comparing the .dta’s, the only other quirk i noticed is that the original songs.dta has all paths starting with “./”, and they also have a (song_location 2) field. The rock band 1 export songs seem to be the only ones that have this, so perhaps if you include song_location 2, you must have the ./ on the paths. So I’d try 1) adding ./ to the paths or 2) commenting out the (song_location 2) line by putting ; at the front.
edit: I replied over here: viewtopic.php?p=40707#p40707
December 15, 2014 at 8:55 pm #434585Well I tried adding the 2 songs via merged songs folder and successfully assigned new ids. Yet both still gave me the unable to play skipping. Odd.pushing discussion over to the RBHP thread… my reply is here: viewtopic.php?p=40487#p40487
December 21, 2014 at 4:06 am #434955Small update on my big rant about the song limit (and my convoluted idea how to get around to it). Seems webman leaves a ftp server running while in game, so switching songs.dta while the game is running is a posibility. Now just need to find a way to reload the song list in-game, without needing to log into psn.
December 21, 2014 at 4:08 am #434956Well, deleting a song reloads the DTAs on the Xbox. I also think just plugging in a USB with songs triggers a re-scan, but obviously that won’t work on the PS3.
December 21, 2014 at 6:10 am #434960You guys aren’t far enough with the PS3 to edit the memory, right? That would allow some further modification with some knowledge. Is not even a temp cache stored somewhere while the game is running?
January 9, 2015 at 3:28 am #435865just curious, what is the fix again for songs that have unable to load?
the new release – The Fray – Over my Head does not seem to work on my ps3.

You can report the song here for quick resolution:
If you are in a hurry and want to fix it locally, and assuming you’re getting the ‘unable to load…skipping’ message, I try 2 things.
1. Check the folder names for the song in the Merged Files folder. If it has capital letters in any of the folder names, change them to lower case.
2. Try reconverting the CON file using Type 2, 10 Second Delay (instead of type 1)
January 12, 2015 at 2:36 am #436023Came upon an issue adding songs to my long list today. Previously had 1709 total on my ps3, tried adding 22 more today. I only download the Xbox cons lately and covert them, which I did and added them. To my surprise only 4 songs were added to my total, now 1713. Only the “funkydunkleman” songs in the list added successfully, even the C3 official releases failed to add.
So I edited my list, removed the 18 that didnt work and reconverted then via type 2 with 10 second delay, and added the 18 again. No joy.
So once again edited my list, removed the 18 that didnt work. So for shits and giggles I converted them again, type 2 and selected “not” to re-number them. And all the songs added.
I wonder if this has anything to do with previous failed attempts that I had to add songs.

Not to be snarky, but I guess I’m wondering why you would download C3 official in CON format.
The folks here are doing a good job of keeping the PS3 releases up to date as new stuff is published.
Hamburgerjung, I believe, is maintaining these.
I would be curious what numbers the ‘manage DTA’ option reported on your system.
I use that a lot to double check my merges before I transfer over to the PS3.

Yes, you’re right I’m doing this job and I do the best to keep it up to date as fast as I can, but it has to be possible to convert songs on your own with the C3 tool (e.g. for customs out of the database).
I started using the C3 version 3.62 since the last songs from 9th Jan. I cannot confirm what happened to NeedDreamer but I haven’t added songs to my songs.dat yet.
@ NeedDreamer:
Which version did you use?

Gotta correct you there. Hamburgerjung is not doing a good job, he’s doing a GREAT job. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
January 29, 2015 at 5:19 am #437274I’m sorry if this is a dumb question….I’m new here.
I have a nodded PS3. I have downloaded many songs from the C3 database and many custom songs from users in the forum, and I have around 100 or so out of those that will show up in my library, but: won’t play a preview, gets stuck on the loading screen, or just crashes the game entirely.
I feel like I need to do something to these songs because I haven’t read anything from anyone else experiencing this issue. I followed the tutorial and, like I said, many songs work, but many songs don’t.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
January 29, 2015 at 8:21 am #437278Well, indeed there are a few songs that will not work with the PS3 as I realized.
For example there is one song at the database I cannot force to run to save my life.
It’s Beyond Her Tomb by Mic The Microphone and I cannot tell you why and what’s the difference between other songs and this one.
You wrote there are some songs out of the database that don’t work.
Can you name one or two?
And by the way, welcome aboard! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
January 31, 2015 at 1:18 am #437456Both of this weeks Linkin Parks song lock on the loading screen for me. Using normal version convert and the 10 sec delay convert.
:'(

Thank you for the welcoming words, and THANK YOU ALL for all of your guys’ hard work. I figured out the issue I was having. For some reason the many songs that gave me issues wouldn’t work if I used the CON. I downloaded the package file instead, unpacked it, placed the file into the CONS folder in C3Tools, clicked PS3 Converter, then Tools, then “merge songs”. I found that in one of the threads. Thank you for being welcoming to newcomers, and being so helpful. I hope to one day learn enough to help contribute songs to the community.
