Whenever you merge new songs to your existing songs, the entire DTA is scanned and song IDs are replaced as necessary. So you can either merge a song, or use the batch tool on the already merged DTA.
Then search for the song name in the DTA and get the ID to use on the pro upgrade. Or throw the DTA at quick pack editor and it’ll list the songs and their ID.
December 1, 2014 at 1:28 am #433734Well I have good news and some bad…
I never noticed that I was already using the newest version of C3 which added the numerical value at the end. Good news is that the pro upgrades for the most part seem uneffected. The bad news is a few pro upgrades which I tried that were unsuccessful caused some permanent damage to some songs, even after I tried to remove the upgrades, several songs remained with the skipping error. And still after removing the song from rock band and reinstalling them. These were legit songs before.
Train – Drops of Jupiter
Jimi Hendrix – Purple Haze
Foo Fighters – Walk & Rope(causing me to remove 4 pack)
I guess I am just curious if anyone has the pro upgrades of the successfully working.
December 1, 2014 at 1:57 am #433735There is no reason why any of that is caused by these tools. DLC/RBN is ignored and Pro Upgrades should not be used at any point with these tools.
So I’m a bit confused…

i’m only guessing here, but pop open your custom merged songs.dta file and search through it for the following strings:
1006191
1010268
1010269
that’s the “official” song_id for purple haze, walk, and rope (i don’t have the train track to compare). My only guess is that you somehow ended up with one of your customs using a duplicate ID, breaking the official one. As TrojanNemo said, customs never touch the “official” song download (those songs are stored in very different folders), nor their individual songs.dta files, so there should be no way to mess them up. If you remove your customs songs.dta file from the ps3, do they go back to working?
December 1, 2014 at 3:30 am #433745Is it possible to get ftp access out of C3 tools?I got no idea how to implement FTP connectivity, and much less with the PS3. Sorry!
Digging in the thread!!
Anyways, I might be of help for this. See this here:

curious – what does this “do” for you as a user? why would i want a setlist with every song in it? not intended to be a dickish question, just honestly curious as i’ve just never used setlists and don’t see why i’d want one with every song – how is browsing the setlist different from browsing the library? maybe i’ve been missing out on a cool feature…
December 1, 2014 at 2:31 pm #433770Well here’s an update… I found an older merged songs folder before the renumbering of tracks. And tried it… the Foo Fighters songs worked but the Train Drops of Jupiter and Purple Haze still gave the unable to load songs skipping.
So I went back to my current list(new numbered version) removed all the problematic songs and was forced to re-add them from Xbox cons… well this worked for the foo fighters songs too. But still got the unable to load skipping for Drops of Jupiter and Purple Haze. I even tried with and without the upgrades folder present. I checked to see if there was a score assigned to these 2 songs and there is not one present.
Really don’t wanna wipe out entire rockband and be forced to start again. Is there anyway to rebuild these 2 songs so that rockband totally sees them as new?
December 1, 2014 at 2:54 pm #433773I even tried with and without the upgrades folder present. I checked to see if there was a score assigned to these 2 songs and there is not one present.aaah, so you’re trying to get pro upgrades from RBHP working… that’s a tangent from the main customs and not considered generally working yet since it requires more than just the usual routine. Perhaps we should have a separate thread for discussion of RBHP+PS3 and pluck those posts out of this thread. Have you read back through this whole thread? there’s a few posts on RBHP that might have some good info. can you list how you went about installing them? I haven’t tried pro guitar and have only added harmonies to a couple tracks, but so far they looked fine.
December 1, 2014 at 3:40 pm #433778OK I am not gonna go into step by step because I was successful in getting the pro upgrades to work for most songs by following all step by step instructions a few pages back. But a few of the pro upgrades gave me an error “skipping song…” Of those I just removed edat and edited the upgrades.dta to try to restore the songs. This worked for all except Foo Fighters Rope & Walk, Train Drops of Jupiter, & Jimi Hendrix Purple Haze.
At this point I tried an old merged folder before the re-numbering update, and tried these songs again. Only the foos songs worked.
I even tried without any “songs” folder present and got “skipping song” for the songs.
I removed these songs and added all of then from cons to my newest merged folder and found the foos working again. But not Drops of Jupiter or Purple Haze. So I was hoping for help to modify these song to work again.
I believe I understand the procedure for adding pro upgrades because I even had to change the song id number to get some of the custom pro upgrades to work.

This worked for all except Foo Fighters Rope & Walk, Train Drops of Jupiter, & Jimi Hendrix Purple Haze.i don’t think it hurts to list the steps since it may be helpful to others, and maybe someone will notice something amiss. however, if you got most working, it’s likely some difference on those particular songs.
so have you strictly done pro upgrades by creating the songs_upgrades and upgrades.dta? did you also touch the original songs.dta files for the tracks? I know that for harmonies you need to make changes to the original songs.dta file to get them working… maybe there’s something similar here – like something in the .edat doesn’t match up with the original songs.dta file now. The past evidence around “unable to load, skipping” almost all seemed to point to issues with the .edat file – either not being encrypted correctly, or having some incompatibility with the songs.dta file, so that’s the first things i’d check. maybe there’s tracks in the midi that are incompatible with the original songs.dta. In particular, the foos always had harmonies, but the hendrix track says “vocal_parts 1”. the songs.dta for purplehaze that comes with the RBHP lists “vocal_parts 3”, so i’m betting RB is choking when it finds unexpected harmonies.
I believe I understand the procedure for adding pro upgrades because I even had to change the song id number to get some of the custom pro upgrades to work.did you change the ID in the upgrades.dta file, or change the one in the original songs.dta file? i haven’t cross-referenced the two yet, but I’d figure the RBHP is working from the “original” sources as a starting point and thus would have the ids correct…
December 1, 2014 at 4:41 pm #433783That’s the thing… doing these pro upgrades I never changed anything on the original songs. Never even opened their folders.
And after I couldn’t get them to work I just removed them from the updates folder… originally third eye blind never left you go and guns and roses november rain hadn’t worked at all either with the pro upgrades present. But just removing the pro upgrades restored those songs. I dunno what happened with the foos songs but re installing the original cons for those fixed them(even with pro).
But I have tried everything above to fix purple haze and drops of jupiter… no success
December 1, 2014 at 6:11 pm #433785curious – what does this “do” for you as a user? why would i want a setlist with every song in it? not intended to be a dickish question, just honestly curious as i’ve just never used setlists and don’t see why i’d want one with every song – how is browsing the setlist different from browsing the library? maybe i’ve been missing out on a cool feature…You have. It allows PS3 users to finally use Setlist Manager in C3 CON Tools.
That’s the thing… doing these pro upgrades I never changed anything on the original songs. Never even opened their folders. As far as the RBHP/pro upgrades discussion, I think it might warrant its own thread as it’s just going to be confusing to newcomers and maybe turn them off to customs, which this thread is about.
You said you didn’t touch the songs…but you said you converted them from CONs. Setting aside that you’re saying you’re taking official Xbox 360 DLC and converting it to PS3 (which I’m not sure is OK here), here’s some things to think about and double check:
1 – RBHP files are meant for Xbox 360. Make sure you’re encrypting the MIDI to EDAT and make sure all filenames are lowercase in the DTA file, as they’re not on the Xbox and they have to be on the PS3. This is done by the PS3 Converter when converting a song. Obviously you have to do it manually for upgrades.
2 – If you’re using the official PS3 songs, you need to edit the upgrades DTA to match the song ID of the PS3 song, as it’s NOT going to match the ID on the upgrades DTA, which is for the Xbox 360 version of the song.
3 – If you’re using the Xbox 360 version converted to PS3, still make sure that file names and IDs match and they’re lowercase.
4 – To restore a song that isn’t working, simply changing the song ID should work. You can add a couple of letters to it. Then run the DTA through the Batch tool and it’ll assign a new numeric ID. This makes sure you don’t end up with a duplicate ID. You can also try changing the path name on the PS3 FTP and change it accordingly in the DTA file (i.e. foowalk to foowalk2 or whatever).
December 1, 2014 at 7:45 pm #433792That’s the thing… doing these pro upgrades I never changed anything on the original songs. Never even opened their folders.right, but here’s the thing – you’re not strictly doing “pro upgrades” with the songs you listed. If you’re strictly doing an upgrade that ONLY adds pro guitar/bass, then you can simply create the songs_updates + updates.dta files in the usual customs folder and it should (if you’ve got the names in lowercase, matching ids, properly encrypted mid) just work, because originally pro guitar+bass was done as an add-on download, so the game expects this. but it’s only this (very small) subset that will “just work” without touching the original songs.dta files.
In the case of purplehaze, it’s strictly a harmonies upgrade, and a harmonies upgrade will only work if the songs.dta entry for the song says that it’s got harmonies that match the _plus.mid.edat file you supply. the midi provided by RBHP has 3 vocal tracks, and the original songs.dta file has one indicated. without the update to the songs.dta file, it won’t work since it expects 1 vocal track and finds 3. I’ve tested this a few different ways with a few different songs and (as mentioned earlier in this thread) it’s the only way to get harmonies upgrades to work. i believe the same applies to keys but i haven’t specifically tried that yet. Also note that (as mentioned elsewhere in this thread), sometimes the .mid files provided by RBHP will have just vocals, or vocals+keys, or vocals+keys+guitar. so you might think you’re using one and end up with other bits you didn’t expect. Only way to know is to check the midi.
another interesting bit of info is that there are no RBHP upgrades for either of the foo fighters songs you mentioned – so i’d go back to my previous questions about clashing song_id values that these songs are using and one of your customs is also trying to use. Otherwise there’s absolutely no way I can see that you’re touching two songs that neither come from C3 or RBHP.
December 2, 2014 at 12:09 am #433809Well that could be why the Purple Haze didn’t work. Perhaps the others too. I guess igot confused in the list which were harmonies upgrades and which were pro guitar upgrades. But still i applied then as if they were guitar upgrades (never modifying original song). So when reversing them you would think that they work work again.
December 2, 2014 at 1:03 pm #433823So reading the last several posts, is this thread currently the repository for info on getting RBHP to work on PS3?
Now that the merge tool is fixed regarding song ID’s, I’d like to experiment with this.
I’m in the process of getting a spare hard drive for my JB PS3 to do some experiments and just need to know where to start reading up on how to start trying to integrate RBHP.
