November 26, 2014 at 3:40 am #433491first, I just want to say thanks to everyone involved in C3, with special thanks to those making the PS3 work, especially when some of you don’t even have one! I used to buy a ton of DLC, and the constant stream of new content kept me playing the game all the time. Since that stopped, our rock band play has dwindled, but sunday I loaded it up with a bunch of your customs and we had a marathon 8+ hours of play. what a blast! looking forward to future releases, and helping however I can.
So PS3 songs usually have 3 or 4 digit song IDs? That’s very different from Xbox. The process now is based on Xbox song IDs, so it needs to be edited for this difference. Can you confirm what other kinds of IDs I need to be looking for on PS3s?i’m working on this now. i started poking around on the hard drive and found a few other directories containing song info outside of BLUS30463 (I was mostly looking at this for getting RBHP stuff going, but that’s a separate discussion). So far I’ve mirrored several of the directories, which makes for easy grepping on this sort of data. a few notes on what i see as it relates to this:
1) not all songs.dta songs appear to have a song_id… not sure where this comes from as I’ve noticed when there are RBHP versions of the song they have a value here.
2) I see songs with 3 digit, 4 digit, 7 digit, and even just the number 0. 7 digits seems the most common. I need to look closer since I’ve got a whole mess of RB stuff (RB1-3, TBRB, blitz, RB:GD, tons of DLC) and this could be related to that.
I’m hoping to push all this into a database or something for more exact info and associating things like the path, song name, etc for scripting RBHP installs. happy to provide the info here in a day or so once i’ve had some time to munch on it.

On the Xbox at least, this was RB1 era songs. At that point, songs didn’t have an ID line on the .dta. On disc RB2 and RB3 included upgraded DTA files, which assigned all the missing information.

Damn it PS3, get your shit together. I’ll make it accept as valid IDs with those kinds of IDs when doing it for PS3 only.

It should be pretty straightforward as far as programming something to do it, if that’s what you mean. If you’re working on C# or something that is similar in structure I can provide you most of the code.
Welcome aboard.
November 26, 2014 at 5:48 am #4334932) I see songs with 3 digit, 4 digit, 7 digit, and even just the number 0.Done adding support for 3 and 4 digit IDs on PS3, as well as the number 0. All of those will now be ignored along with the 7 digit official DLC and 10 digit C3 song IDs. I’ll wait to hear if anything else needs changing before I push an update for testing. Let me know if you find anything else.

Will the new update automatically update the ID’s during the merge? If so, it might be good to spit that fact out on the listbox where the tool messages are displayed. Something like ‘200 songs merged’, ‘200 IDs updated’.
If the merge, ID count did not match, that would be a good clue that something went wrong and may help debugging later, if needed.
That info might be useful when using the batch tool as well.
Are you looking for some other ID scenarios on existing RB songs?

ok, I think i’ve found all the songs on my ps3 hard drive, and that’s the only formats I see there. However, cross-referencing with the RBHP songs.dta files, they also have 1 digit and 2 digit song_ids on some tracks (mainly the old RB1 songs). So it might just be easier to have it tolerate any valid integer.
November 26, 2014 at 5:59 pm #433508Thanks a lot for all the support given to the PS3 community!I go where the love is!
Will the new update automatically update the ID’s during the merge? If so, it might be good to spit that fact out on the listbox where the tool messages are displayed. Something like ‘200 songs merged’, ‘200 IDs updated’.Yes, and will do.
Are you looking for some other ID scenarios on existing RB songs?Sure.

However, cross-referencing with the RBHP songs.dta files, they also have 1 digit and 2 digit song_ids on some tracks (mainly the old RB1 songs). So it might just be easier to have it tolerate any valid integer. It seems that it’s just counting from 0 up, without a prefix. So where on the Xbox it’d be 1000001 and 1000002, it’s just doing 1, 2. So I’ll make it understand that.
November 26, 2014 at 7:49 pm #433511hopefully not a totally obvious question, but I haven’t found this specific question elsewhere…
So I have all this DLC from before I went CFW and some of it works, but unfortunately some of it doesn’t. Looks like the stuff that works is the usual combo of a songname.mid.edat and a songname.mogg. However, i’ve got a whole bunch that don’t work and in addition to the .mogg they have songname.pan, songname.usr, songname.vnn, songname.voc, and songname.xvocab. I’m betting these latter ones are somehow associated with the original userid or similar (I’ve run a resigner on old save games to get them working as the current userid). Anyone know what to do here? Is there a simple workaround to get these working again?
November 26, 2014 at 8:23 pm #433513No idea what you’ll need to do to get them working on the PS3, but those extra files came with RB1 customs. RB2 eliminated most of them. By RB3 we were down to only 5 files (dta, midi, mogg, png, milo). But you need all those files present for those songs to work.
November 26, 2014 at 10:39 pm #433523What message do you get on the songs that do not work?
November 26, 2014 at 10:41 pm #433524I don’t remember if we get any messages. Typically what happens is 1) the game crashes when you try to go into the song setlist to select songs, or 2) the game will crash when it’s loading a specific song, or 3) the game tells you something like “this song is no longer available” and sends you back to the setlist.

November 27, 2014 at 2:04 am #433536What message do you get on the songs that do not work?I get the “unable to load song, skipping” (or similar) message, after selecting the song+difficulty.
