I got your point. But some jailbroken users (like me ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> ) uses the stock 120gb internal and hooked a 1TB external wd hdd for the games. Then the cool concept of customs came along…

But some jailbroken users (like me ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> ) uses the stock 120gb internal and hooked a 1TB external wd hdd for the games. Then the cool concept of customs came along…The customs use the directory of the free songs pack by Harmonix (please see instructions mentioned at the beginning of this thread). When you convert a XBOX-con file to PS3 TrojanNemo’s C3-Tool uses a licence code that is based on that free songs directory.
So you have to tell your PS3 this directory can be found on your external hdd like the rest of the rockband game.
This should be the only way to use an external hdd, I guess.
June 30, 2014 at 10:20 am #423685Alrighty. Thanks for your prompt response. Another thing, can I install the rap file via ReactPSN instead of PSNPatch? Again, thanks and keep the customs comin’!
June 30, 2014 at 11:12 am #423686I don’t have any experience in installing via ReactPSN.
I got a PS3 with a Rogero Firmware on it and I was connected to the PSN using the PSNPatch to download the free pack. After that I followed the description of option 1.
There was no problem doing it and the console was not banned but of course there is always a risk to be banned.
It’s important to get the latest Rogero Firmware corresponding to the original one when you start downloading stuff from the PSN. And do not forget to switch on the PSNPatch before connecting to it! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
July 15, 2014 at 11:51 am #424697Hi guys!
I’ve been studying this forum (and others) for about a week now, so when I got my new ps3 I would be able to get customs working.
I’ve been trying to get it to work but I’m having a problem following the instructions. First of all, I would like to point out that the Klicensee Dumper link doesn’t work – the one on this thread does: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f118/ps3-homebrew-pc-tools-collection-3-41-4-xx-118847/
The thing is, in the very first step – to connect ps3 and PC via FTP – I was only able to establish a Passive connection. Now I see that an Active one is probably needed because Filezilla does not allow me to get the libsysutil_np.sprx file off the ps3. [About this file: I didn’t find it on the same folder it was supposed to be in; found it on /dev_flash/sys/external – is this normal? is this the same file needed to be replaced by the one provided on Klicensee Dump?]
Another step that I had to do slightly different was installing the rap file for the Free Pack. After searching for a bit, I decided to use reActPSN and I believe it installed the files properly from the usb stick – is there a way of making sure it did?
Lastly, as made obvious by my need to use Klicensee, I’m a PAL user, and I really want to make this work as I have the PAL disc as well, bought loads of official DLC which I want to re-download. I know there’s the workaround of using a NTSC disc but I would rather try it the hard way.
I’ve messaged the user ijax54 who posted a while ago about making PAL work with different instructions but as I’m unfamiliar with this forum I think I ended up pm’ing a bunch of other people too xD sorry!
Any help is much appreciated.
And thank you to all the ones involved in this project, it’s truly inspiring!
July 17, 2014 at 12:24 am #424779OMG I FINALLY GOT IT TO WORK!
Sooo happy!! OK so… PAL users: it’s much easier to learn how to spoof your cfw and go to PSN get the Free Pack (and the rest of your dear DLC) than trying the offline method.
After a really intense three-day trial and error, this much I know: you guys rock for making these amazing customs!
If anyone needs help, being a PAL user with no Free Song Pack installed to get this going… and with no experience in ps3 software whatsoever, I consider myself a hero! haha ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
July 17, 2014 at 10:03 pm #424821Hello,
My first time posting here, I have read all the instructions and each post on this thread.
However, I am having a weird issue with the C3 Tools – PS3 Converter.
All the files i DL’d are from the C3 Database, I have extracted each rar and put them in the “Songs to be Merged” folder, I also added each song.dta within their respected folders.
I go into ps3 convert -> Tools -> Merge songs
and get hit with an error stating that something is missing “name” /gen/gen when i look in the the “Merged Songs” folder, I see the particular song gen folder. What i end up doing is copying the gen folder and putting it back into the “name” folder and re do the merge option.
This allows me to merge the “song” folder into the songs.dta but seems very long and tedious to do each song one by one.
Can someone help me figure out what im doing wrong I have about 100 ps3 ready files in the “songs to be merged” folder but the process allows me to do only one by one with the work around mentioned above.
July 17, 2014 at 10:05 pm #424823I also forgot to mention that i am on a mac using VMware to run windows 7.
July 18, 2014 at 12:17 am #424831I also added each song.dta within their respected folders.Where did you get that step? You need the initial pack songs.dta file in the Merged Songs folder. Then put the converted songs in the Songs to Merge folder. And that’s it.
Then again, I can’t tell you that anything will work as intended when running virtual Windows. That’s not something I offer support for, so if the problem is caused by your setup, you’re going to have to figure out a fix on your own, sorry.
July 18, 2014 at 12:47 am #424835Where did you get that step? You need the initial pack songs.dta file in the Merged Songs folder. Then put the converted songs in the Songs to Merge folder. And that’s it.mm, maybe i should explain a bit better.
Initially i followed these steps:
FTP into PS3 and take the “songs.dta” from “dev_hdd0/game/BLUS30463/USRDIR/HMX0756/songs/” and put them into the Merged Folder.
However this is where i got lost when adding the DL PS3 Customs.
i extracted the rar, and put the song folder in the “Songs to be merged” and added its seperate songs.dta into the Merged folder.
(I would have the orginal songs.dta and the songs.dta(2)
whenever i tried to merge songs, it would say error missing gen/gen folder, which pops up in the Merged Folder.
this is why
I took this Gen/Gen Folder and just stuck it into the song folder and overwrite it.
and try to merge and it would say error missing songs.dta from the same songs folder.
i dont understand why i kept getting the gen/gen errors. its as if it gets lost, but whenever i replace the gen/gen folder and have the songs.dta in the same song folder it gets added on into the primary songs.dta and the songs work when loaded. i tested this for 10 songs, but it does become time consuming.
July 18, 2014 at 1:05 am #424837You’re not paying attention to the instructions.
Before you begin, get the songs.dta file found under the ‘/dev_hdd0/game/BLUS30463/USRDIR/HMX0756/songs/’ folder on your PS3 and place it in the ‘Merged Songs’ folder. That means in the Merged Songs folder you have ONE songs.dta file. That’s it.
copy/paste all the songs you want to merge into the ‘Songs to Merge’ folder. That means in the Songs to Merge folder you would have nothing but a bunch of folders, i.e. “Maroon 5 – Harder to Breathe” and “Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven”
You then go to Tools -> Merge songs and that will merge each song’s DTA file with the ONE songs.dta file in the Merged Songs folder. It will also move the song folders over to the Merged Songs folder, but this is moving the internal folder, so now you should be looking at stairwaytoheaven and hardertobreathe, plus only the ONE songs.dta file.
At no point there, should you be having multiple songs.dta with (2) (3) etc. If you do, you’re not doing it right.
July 18, 2014 at 1:19 am #424839I understand what you are saying, but thats where im having issues.
My Merged Folder has the primary “songs.dta” i understand this is the one being merged.
My Songs to Merge folder are a bunch of folders. ie. flyaway, fallingtopieces, etc.
within each song folder has the “gen” folder, .edat, .mogg. (the rar’s seperated the song.dta so i had to put them in the folder) (if this is wrong please let me know)
I felt like i had everything in the right place. but as soon as i hit tool > Merge songs,
Within my Merge folder a folder called “gen” pops up, and i get an error for the first song on the list,
” ERROR says: Could not find a part of the path ‘C:Users’ name ‘ DesktopRockbandps3Songs to Mergeflyaway/gen/gen
But when i look in the MERGE folder. the “gen” folder is sitting right there underneath the songs.dta
this is the issue ive been having, and when i look in the SONG to MERGE folder the folder flyaway will still be there with a gen folder, but its missing its content which was transferred to the MERGE folder.
July 18, 2014 at 1:34 am #424840I understand what you are sayingNo, you don’t. Otherwise you will see why you’re causing the problem.

How is that what I told you above? I said in the Songs to Merge folder you wouldn’t have any DTA files. You extract the RAR file to its own folder. And that goes into the Songs to Merge folder. If you do just that, there is no songs.dta file in the Songs to Merge folder. The songs.dta file of each song is contained within that songs’ folder.
Let’s try this another way…your folder structure should look like this
Songs to MergeMaroon 5 – Harder to Breathe
inside that folder, you should have songs.dta and a folder, hardertobreathe
inside that hardertobreathe folder, you should have a gen folder, a mid.edat file and a .mogg file
inside that gen folder, you should have a milo_ps3 file and a png_ps3 file
That’s how it should be for all songs. You keep ignoring the instructions and merging the wrong folders and having multiple DTA files or just straight up overwriting one DTA file with another. That’s not what you’re being told to do.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, I am extremely sorry that it took this long for me to figure out the issue.
Apparently my issue was step 1: the extract process. for some reason when i extracted it didnt include the first folder.
again, i am very sorry that this issue was dragged out by stupidity on my part.
Thank you so much for your help, i greatly appreciate it.
July 18, 2014 at 6:33 am #424848Just another thought.
The way I convert to PS3 is to download the CON file from the amazing C3 library.
Place as many as you want in the CON folder and then the converter finds them all.
If you select the Merge Songs tick box in the stunning tool it will convert and merge them all in a single step!!
Magic!
Original Songs.dta file to be located as stated by TrojanNemo above.
