I spent some time to test again all these songs mentioned by TrojanNemo and I can confirm following songs work fine on my PS3:
– Bruce Springsteen – Born to Run (after all it works now – don’t know why it didn’t at the first time)
– Hootie & the Blowfish – Hold My Hand (after it was patched with TDCMarks update)
– Maroon 5 – She Will Be Loved
– The Rocky Horror Picture Show – Hot Patootie – Bless My Soul
Did you play The Rocky Horror Picture Show – Hot Patootie – Bless My Show and Maroon 5 – She Will Be Loved from beginning till the end of song? Cause I have problem in the middle with those, where you have corrupted sounds in the middle of song and then ps3 freeze.

Heya
First is it all songs? There have been several ( maybe a dozen or so), that I have came across that have been problematic. Once I had even corrupted my song list and had to start over.

Could it be your PS3 got a RSOD (red screen of death)?
There is a function in Rogero firmwares that switch of the RSOD and let the system boot like it works fine, but there are several functions in the system that will not work anymore (like saving data in games).
I know it, because I once had problem with my PS3…
April 27, 2014 at 12:47 pm #418960I dont think that the RLOD thing is the problem because I’ve already played custom songs in my PS3.. This is the scenario:
I try to convert my DLC from my xbox 360 using the “PS3 converter” and merging it with .CON custom songs (the DLC song from my xbox 360 is the package which include the song hands down) and it works so fine.. When I found out that those things are possible, I’ve decided to add another DLC from my xbox 360 (which again I do the same process). The DLC that I am talking about is the “fall out boy” package.. What I have seen is that when I convert all of the songs (including all the custom songs and the hands down package) only the song sugar we’re going down is the one that doesn’t have its own folder, instead the file goes like this “sugar weregoing.edat”.. Do you think this is the problem why I get stuck? Any solutions for this? Thank you so much for your time and effort

I too used Xbox dlc. Had some big problems and corrupted my song list. I had to start over and make that I extracted the cons first from any Xbox multi-song packages before adding them. And I tell you that even after doing that I still found the odd legit song which didn’t work after being put on PS3… “unable to load, skipping song fault”. But majority the worked.

April 28, 2014 at 2:28 am #419002If you keep all you working files… I would start over. First with all your doc and test it… none of the doc locked my system, few songs were “unable to play, skipping”. Then I would create a second song list and test the files you want from here before adding them to your main list. There’s only a frozen songs that I have issues with. I create a test list before adding any songs to the main. And the good thing is all you have to do is rename your “merged songs” folder, don’t even have to delete it. Then when you know which songs work and don’t, change your main song folder back to “merged songs” and add them. Even on the PS3 side you can have multiple song folder. Rock band will only load the current one labeled “songs”.

April 28, 2014 at 4:55 am #419009I’m personally encountering the “can’t load, skipping…” error on Metallica – Dyers Eye, which is strangely the only Metallica multi-track that this happens with. I’m going to try the alternative conversion method using C3 3.3 to see if that fixes it. I’ll report in later today.
But I have a far greater problem, and that is a large portion of songs have a dta in a layout that highly differs from the original PS3 dta layout.
Here’s a portion of a song that has a working dta (looks just like a genuine RB3 dta):

)It seems the song with invalid dta files all have a “The following values will be read by Visualizer” comment section tacked on the end. Is the error because of a certain tool that was used to author the song, because the comments are throwing off the conversion process, or something else entirely? Any ideas?
I’m surprised that no one else seems to be having this error, as it has nothing to do with my conversion process, as this happens whether I download a pre-converted PS3 package, or convert an XBOX 360 version manually.
Am I just being slow, or is this a monumental problem for the PS3 customs project?

Well I personally didn’t download that song from Metallica, but the ones I’ve downloaded worked fine. So maybe people didn’t try that song, and that’s why no one else reported that song. But for the problem you’ve encountered there where several songs reported with identical error.
On Ps3 so far there are 3 kind of problems that’s appearing:
1. Unable to load skipping error – could be error with song .dta or .edat file
2. PS3 freezes in the song library – probably error inside .mogg file
3. PS3 freezes during the song and gives corrupted sounds in the middle of it – probably error is inside .mogg file
April 28, 2014 at 12:40 pm #419018Just for clarity sake, the Metallica Dyers Eve error and the general widespread error I was describing are two entirely separate issues.
Dyers Eve has the “skipping” error that everyone seems to be discussing. But the dta format issue no one seems to have mentioned, period, even though it’s present in about 70% of the songs.
The corrupt dta format doesn’t cause any of the other reported problems of things freezing up, or the “skipping song” error. It prevents the song from being listed in the library, as well as any songs listed after it in the mutual songs.dta. So if you have 100 songs in your master songs.dta file and put a corrupt dta in at 10th place, then the first 9 songs will load fine, but the remaining 91 songs will never be listed at all. It would be as if you copied the song data to the PS3 and forgot to merge the dta files entirely.
As far as the suggestion that I convert the RBN/Custom style dta to the standard dta goes:
Yeah, that’s what I’d like to do. But how? And can we automate that for 800+ songs? I guess I can’t hope that it’ll be added to C3, if that project is closed and not being updated, but if anyone has any other practical solutions to this, then I’m all ears.
I really don’t get why no one else has reported this. Has anyone else tried any of the Alanis Morrisette songs, or The Beatles Export pack, or Tool – Eulogy and got them working? These are just a few of many that will not work using the normal conversion routine.
A big thank you to anyone that has either contributed to making customs, by the way. It’s quite wonderful. I know how much time projects like that can take.
April 28, 2014 at 1:37 pm #419022Good question but it seems to be beyond my understanding. Perhaps someone better can help us with this.I find it hard to believe that some songs work and others don’t though. If that was the case, no song produced by Magma C3 (all of our songs are) would work.
