“Witchy Woman” is now full-band, with guitar, bass and an improved drum track. Special thanks to oscarj08 for feedback and advice on the drums!
With a band like the Eagles there are always tons of guitar parts to choose from. Hopefully y’all like the ones I settled on. This one just needs reductions before it’s done, but I’m still going to tackle the remaining guitar and bass parts first.

If you had an earlier version of “Witchy Woman” in the game, you may need to delete your song cache and let it rebuild. That’s the down side of playing WIP’s with missing instruments, I’m afraid. Just to make sure, I downloaded my current version and put it on a memory stick without a cache, and I was able to play guitar.

I was taught not to capitalize prepositions in titles, unless they don’t actually serve as prepositions, that is, if they behave more like adjectives (“He Is Down and Out“) or adverbs (“She Threw Up on the Cat”). The length wasn’t supposed to matter: in, out, from, about, across, without… they were all to be treated equally, with none of this four-letters-or-fewer mess that Wikipedia is trying to impose on us.
The RBN docs mention not capitalizing prepositions, but then link to the Wiki guidelines where that “fewer than five letters” rule is given. If I’m told C3 prefers Wiki-style titles, then I’ll prop up the “a” in “about”… begrudgingly… under protest… ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
October 11, 2015 at 10:40 am #457362Proper grammar is not the way to go for song titles and artist names. Titles and names are chosen by the artists themselves, you can’t correct them or change them (well you can but then you are not being accurate). Wikipedia usually is spot on, iTunes also helps for those “1 in a 100” cases where the name is not on Wikipedia. With that said, hopefully the last.fm API integration will take care of that.

Just a heads up: this is bad planning. When an author changes metadata information (anything cached, anyway), it should always be up to the author to compile the new version with a new ID to avoid the issue. Obviously you can say “fudge it, anyone who really wants to update will figure it out”, but since you’re taking this very seriously, you might want to follow a different route. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>

I have the same problem. I only see the drums and vocals….and ive rebuilt the cache. It’s really strange, all the others work fine. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />

So… the RBN docs are wrong?
I’m kidding… mostly. I don’t take this as seriously as I’m letting on, but as the son of an English teacher, I do try to be correct about such things. I think most of the time the artists just leave it up to the typographers and/or follow the rules as best they understand them. I suspect if we followed exactly how names and titles appear on the original releases, a lot of things would be ENTIRELY CAPITALIZED.
If an artist has obviously stylized a name or title, tobyMac’s (portable sounds) or the words of e e cummings’s “up into the silence the green” set to music for examples, then of course I will follow that. Otherwise I’d like to follow the correct rules, not Wiki’s. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

Ooookay. That’s going to affect how I have my project directories organized, but I’ll work on it. This is why I have a memory stick dedicated to WIP’s so that things in flux won’t affect things that aren’t in flux.
Maybe I’ll use the ten-thousands digit to represent cache-affecting revisions. 0xxxx for the first release, 1xxxx for the second and so on. I suppose having only 9,999 slots for songs instead of 99,999 is a minor sacrifice. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
I’m not at my XBox right now, and I’d like to give it a test before releasing, but once I’m back home I’ll rebuild “Witchy Woman” with a new ID. Hopefully that will fix the missing instruments.
October 11, 2015 at 3:58 pm #457381“Witchy Woman” has been reuploaded with a new ID. I’ll re-upload “Honesty” and “What about Love” with new ID’s later today, in case those are missing instruments for anyone also.
And in all seriousness, certainly let me know if this doesn’t fix the problem. I don’t wish to deprive anyone of songs they want to play, no matter how anal I can get. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
October 11, 2015 at 4:35 pm #457384Thank you for reuploading! Ill give it a try later today and let you know if that fixes it. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
October 12, 2015 at 2:31 am #457405It works! Thank you so much for the re-upload. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
October 13, 2015 at 12:48 am #457473Excellent! I’ve posted new files for “What about Love” and “Honesty” with new ID’s as well, in case those were giving anybody grief. I’ll be sure to change the ID on the remaining four songs once they have all their charts as well.
In the meantime, would anyone like a sneak peek at more customs? If so, read on!
samjjones, remember when I said you guessed three of my projects correctly? You were very, very close on the fourth…
(Edit: The Eagles’ “Heartache Tonight” is now in the database. Find it here!)
(Edit: ELP’s “Lucky Man” is now polished and in the database. Find it here!)
I haven’t forgotten my promise to finish the current batch before Halloween. These will come next, maybe among others…
October 13, 2015 at 1:09 am #457474Good stuff and thanks for the extra effort, it sure will be appreciated by all your fans. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
