Yes! This song is awesome! The drums are going to be bonkers.
Damn straight! I’m really happy with how the drum chart turned out too, but in fairness they’re an easy band to chart drums for due to Ben Koller using such a simple (but effective) setup and Kurt Ballou’s production having every piece of the kit perfectly aligned in the mix on this album.
August 16, 2016 at 8:57 am #473437You’ve released some of my favorite customs so far, seriously. I actually grabbed a handful of your stuff that I’ve never heard of just based off your tastes and charting. (Chinchilla won me over on guitar.) Stoked on Strange Terrain.

That’s great to hear, man. Glad you’ve been digging some of my stuff. I’ll move that one up in the queue, it’s pretty close to completion.

Excellent news. I also forgot to thank you for more Converge. Dark Horse was not nearly enough, I actually really enjoy the Aimless Arrow chart on guitar. (Drums seem hellish and way beyond me.) Always, always up to see more of them in the game – there’s so much potential scattered across their discography. Cheers to your great tastes.

I agree, man. I have a ton of songs by them I’d love to do, but they’re a very difficult band in general when it comes to tempo mapping. Aimless Arrow wasn’t too hard since it’s a (mostly) steady 3/4 the whole way through. You can bet I’ll immediately start working on anything I can wrap my head around, though.
August 18, 2016 at 12:14 am #473514Absolutely don’t blame you on that one bit. Anyone looking to accurately flesh out a Converge track will have their work cut out for them. Have you considered some of the less frantic jams or are they of less interest to chart? Worms Will Feed or Coral Blue, etc.
If you didn’t have it yet, I found the title track off AWLWLB floating around on here. Crazy finger workout, as to be expected.

I was actually considering Coral Blue for that exact reason. I might do Wretched World some day. I do love their more varied and slowed down songs, but for gameplay purposes a lot of them aren’t high on my list. As for their more usual fare I’d really like to do Fault and Fracture, Black Cloud, and A Glacial Pace.
And yeah, I actually linked the thread AWLWLB is contained in on my Aimless Arrow custom page, just in case anyone was looking for more Converge but didn’t know to search the forums for customs not currently in the database. That was the first and only other Converge custom I’ve found.
August 18, 2016 at 1:16 am #473518I don’t know if it’s of any relevance or use to you, but a user over on the FoF boards charted Concubine / Fault and Fracture together. Dude took the time to chart some amazing stuff that gets overlooked notably Isis, Kvelertak, and some (presumably) super fun Baroness tracks. It’d be a miracle to somehow port his work over – with his permission, of course – because a few of those I’ve been waiting literal years to play.
Counting RBN’s Dark Horse, I have a total of 3 tracks from an incredibly talented band that’s been churning out music for 20+ years. The humanity, man. I’m grateful for what you and others are taking the time to bring to the table, though. The RB players who are eager to see more Converge in-game may be few, but I think we’re especially passionate about the idea. I look forward to more tracks, tentatively… chill as they may be.

Word, man. Those are all bands I dig and have considered charting too. Maybe I need to start learning how to do FoF converts! And props to him for doing Concubine/FaF together since they’re always performed that way.

Preach it. I reached out to him on the FOF board to see if he’d be interested in converting them or if he’d at least be cool with other people taking a stab at it. Most of them had drums, too, from what I recall. I know there’s a lot of potential errors that occur and need to be hammered out when getting everything to play nicely in Reaper, but the guy took the time to chart some amazing songs, overdrive paths, etc. – it’d be a shame to see those stuck in FOF purgatory. Maybe you could collaborate with another charter or two here on the boards and bring them to life? I’ll shoot some PMs around and see if anyone is interested. I know they’re not particularly difficult, but I want those Isis tracks more than just about anything else as a custom, right now, and the others would be fun as hell too.
