Hey thanks for the rush pack, love to see more of my favorite band in the game!

I did notice some things in the drum chart for the big money and freewill.

In the big money, during the second verse when neil is hitting the floor tom and the snare, that there is no added floor tom when he does the double bass part. It’s charted with to bass drum notes, and then two floor toms, when it should be three bass drum notes, and one floor tom.

And during the instrumental section of freewill there should be ghost notes added.

Ghost notes are an author’s call that depends on the feel of the song. The golden rule of having no different sounds being represented by the same notes on screen clashes with what the drummer is actually playing. Personally I tend not to author ghost notes unless it’s a rhythmic thing, because otherwise you see a stream of red notes and in game you can only hear a few of them. However, I’m not the author so I’m just giving you the general rule and my take on it.

By the way, we have a bug report section you can use to submit issues.

Don’t worry, I changed song IDs by messing with the .dta files for ages before I realized there was an easier way. I’m very observant.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is this easier way you speak of? Is the “Change ID” feature the same thing as the “Quick DTA Editor” button? I’m trying to change the song ID for the new C3 version of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath because it seems to be conflicting with an older ‘non-C3’ version that I have. I remember successfully doing this myself a couple of years ago for another song, but It’s been such a long time since I tried to use any of these tools and I could use a little guidance if you (or anyone) would be so kind.

Open the song up in con explorer (the first option in C3 CON tools) and there’s a big change ID button

You’re using an outdated version of C3 CON Tools it seems.

And during the instrumental section of freewill there should be ghost notes added.

There are like a bajillion ghost notes I decided not to author in that section, mainly because there isn’t really much of a pattern to them, and most of them are really quiet.

There are kicks on just about every beat at the beginning of that section, if you author them all, the more distinct hits get a bit muddy.

And because the rhythm is so busy, I thought it would just be frustrating for the player to have to jump all around the kit to play stuff that isn’t clearly heard.

I’m happy with how it turned out, but if it’s really just too easy for you, post a screenshot of an FC, and prove you need more!

Then I’d be happy to fix you up a version with a whole bunch of extra ghost notes

I do not see this option when I open C3 Con Tools. I do see the “Quick DTA Editor” option however but I don’t think I’m using it correctly.

I’m not sure if TrojanNemo was referring to me or iammax in the above quote. I don’t think it’s me since I downloaded the latest version of C3 Con Tools (v381) yesterday from the authoring section and I do not see the “Con Explorer” option. I apologize for asking such a novice question but my searches for an answer just leave me more confused. I know there is a dedicated section for such questions but I thought I’d ask here since there was already a discussion about changing the song ID and my issue is with a track from this week’s release.

So is it as simple using the “Quick DTA Editor” and typing over the Song ID line? I did try this but it didn’t work for me so I assume I’m doing something wrong (usually a safe bet). I know if I delete the cache my issue will be resolved but I am hoping to avoid this if possible.

It’s as simple as watching the tutorial video or reading the change log.

Just drag and drop the CON file to the main C3 CON Tools window and it’ll open up on CON Explorer automatically.

Thanks for the reply Trojan. I did watch the video and read every change log. I did try the drag & drop method repeatedly but nothing happens when I drag the Con file to the main C3 Con Tools widow (I get one of those circle-backslash symbols when I drag it over). Obviously I’m missing something, but 2 days of searching, reading, tinkering and asking questions and I still can’t seem to do what appears to be this fairly simple task. I will try and watch the video again as it was about 2 am when I watched it and I’m sure I missed something. I honestly thought this would be a simple question with a simple answer and I am a bit embarrassed that I still can’t figure it out.

That is the “you can’t drag and drop because this program is installed in Program Files and/or being run in Administrator Mode” icon. Instructions say not to do either of those. If you continue having problems take it to the C3 CON Tools thread, let’s stop cluttering this one.

Alright, so I took a lot of the weekend off the grid to relax and such.

I’ll have all the ID issues and random issues fixed here in the next day or too, and I’ll post when everything is updated and fixed.

As per the ghost notes; it’s one of the things where reality vs game comes into play. As a drummer, who loves to learn rush songs… I’m well aware of a ton* of ghost notes in this pact that weren’t charted. The problem with them is how they translate in game. On true drums, you can “drag” hit the snare off bounce easily to keep beat (ie, LVS and Freewill had these all over where there should* be a snare hit in-between almost every hi-hat). However, RB only has one snare, and most people associate it was a hard snare hit. The chart looks awkward, and it’s usually very difficult to play in game when charting those. Also, the notes are MEANT to be soft and more free form, and don’t correlate great in a judged timing window.

I’m sure Far can vouch; I had a lot of ghost stuff charted that I know exists. Most of the time, we agreed to fix them out since they weren’t always audible or sensible to chart. I might release in the future (in an Other Customs thread) versions of LVS, Freewill, The Analog Kid, ect with the ghost notes all charted for extra difficulty.

Thanks for this pack, but the drums in Hard difficulty in “Heaven and Hell” is very difficult for me. The final part of the song is very similar to expert

              #453648

I was going to report this in the Report Song Issues section, but the list of songs isn’t updated, so I’m gonna post it here.

There is no animation on the guitarist, bassist & vocalist on By-Tor & the Snow Dog. They all remain idle throughout, even when the vocalist is singing the words.

Is “Finding my Way” the only song updated since last week? If there are any more songs updated please let me know.

                #454026

Every con in the Rush pack has now been updated with a new Song ID to hopefully fix any existing ID issues. I believe this all stemmed from me using an older version of Magma, so my apologies. You should all now be good to redownload any songs that were giving you problems. I also fixed up anything posted in here as having problems. The By-Tor issue I believe* is something else as I was originally have a similar issue on another song when testing. They all seem to be working now so if the issue persists after the redownload, try clearing your song cache.

I have also updated the full pack downloads as well, which can be found on the C3 Release Announcement for this as well.
