      a) If it put 500 demos of songs you don’t own, that tells me you added more than just files for songs you own, but they should disappear when you delete the dummy file as the last step of the process.

 You put the songs in an input folder, as described in the guide, and then run the packager, using only the updates you want. You then put the files created in the output folder (a dummy package, and a larger upgrade package) on your USB stick, also as described in the guide. Then you go through the steps detailed in the guide to get the cache to build (delete song cache, build with hard drive disconnected, build with hard drive connected, delete dummy). If you’ve followed the guide thoroughly, barring some weird config I haven’t encountered, this should work — please list the steps you are taking and I can see if anything seems out of sorts.

      c) I would need more detail than just ‘will not play’, because there are many different types of ‘will not play’. There’s “freezes my console on cache build” (does not seem to be the case), “shows white album art/has no preview + ‘unable to load song, skipping'”, “crashes on song load animation screen”, “does not return from black screen after that animation”, and “crashes in the middle of the song”, all of which can have different triggers. If you’ve got the specific behaviour, I might be able to identify a cause.

Looks like I had a dummy I never removed hidden in my flashdrive. That was both the cause of the 500 demo songs and that also fixed the issue with the songs pre RB3. (Sidenote: The error was “Unable to Load Song.”).

Here is the steps I go through to attempt and add harmonies:

      1. Download the songs I want to upgrade

      2. Grab the songs from the folders and put it into the input folder. The input folder looks like this inside:

      dammit (folder)

      summer of 69′ (folder)

      etc

      3. Compile/Build the harmonies package

      4. Injected both packages into the flashdrive via Party Buffalo (in the saved data folder)

      5. Put the flashdrive into the 360

Is the cache the problem here? And do I need both packages?

Both packages need to be present for the first two builds, then you delete the dummy and play.

The existing cache needs to be deleted first, and the storage device with all your songs needs to be disconnected for the first build and connected for the second build.

Though the vibe I got from your message is that it seems to be working now — is that the case?

        #417151

Its still not working for me.

Here what I did this time:

        1. Built the pacakages

        2. Injected both of them into the flashdrive

        3. Checked to see if there was any caches on the flashdrive

        4. Booted up 360 without flashdrive. Deleted the song cache for RB3. Turned it off.

        5. While off, I removed the hard drive, I put the flash drive in so the song cache can build on the flash drive.

My 360 would never boot. I must be missing one crucial step/thing.

Espher, just letting you know that you have 2 different folders named “monster” in your tree: first one is in LRB (song from The Automatic) and second one is in RB DLC 2010 (song from Lady Gaga upgraded this week).

Good catch, thanks. The other should probably be monstergaga or whatever the actual song is named — I’ll upload some fixed files.

Yeah, I’m not sure. The steps I use every time are the same steps in the guide.

          1. Build packages.

          2. Inject them into flash drive + delete old song cache (since it’s on the flash drive).

          3. Unplug hard drive + customs USB stick. Connect RB:HP stick.

          4. Boot console. Build cache. Turn console off.

          5. Plug in hard drive + customs USB stick.

          6. Boot console. Build cache (adds DLC + customs).

          7. Exit to Dashboard and delete dummy from RB:HP stick.

          8. Boot game and play.

If you check the status of the songs after steps 4 & 6 above (as the guide notes, under steps F & G), what are you seeing?

Is it possible to get the keys and pro-guitar upgrades for Buddy Holly and Roxanne, or do we have to choose between keys and pro guitar?

The keys upgrades should include pro guitar if I packaged things correctly.

Pro guitar/bass does not ‘impact’ anything like keys do (backing audio), so that’s how I bundled them.

Harmonies (+ Pro Drums for RBN)

Harmonies + Pro Guitar/Bass (+ Pro Drums for RBN)

            Harmonies + Pro Guitar/Bass + Keys/Pro Keys (+ Pro Drums for RBN)

Not sure how I’ll deal with other stuff like fixes and variants — those may need to be done by hand.

Ah, gotcha, so I’ll use the keys upgrade for Buddy Holly. Should I get Roxanne’s keys upgrade from the master package? Only the pro guitar upgrade is in the new release update.

I gotta thank espher and everyone else involved for this project. I download all the updates every month and apply them to my song packs. I don’t really play vocals much, or even have extra mics (or a pro guitar) right now but I love expanding my game options and I’ll eventually have more mics for my friends that play with me, so keep on doing what you do. It’s alot of work on my end every time since I update my pack dta’s and inject the upgrade midis and takes forever for my 2-3+gig packs to rebuild on this old computer, but it’s worth it to me.

Yeah, assuming I did integrate it properly. The .mid file should be larger than the pro guitar one.

I was bundling these all late on Thursday night so I may have missed the odd song. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>

@espher Sorry for the delayed response but…Thanks for the help! Finally got it working. The issue was I wasn’t building the song cache to my flashdrive without the hard drive in. Now it works! 2 more questions:

                1. For the optional key packages, do they include harmonies in them? I wasn’t sure and I couldn’t check since the only song I did my test was Dammit, and the song doesn’t have harmonies.

                2. Do I need to rebuild the song cache every time once there are more songs I want to add?

                  1. Yes. I have tried to pack them layered as follows:

                  Harmonies Upgrades: Harmonies

Keys Upgrades: Harmonies (if applicable) + Keys/Pro Keys

Pro Guitar Upgrades: Harmonies (if applicable) + Keys/Pro Keys (if applicable) + Pro Guitar/Pro Bass

Pro Drums for RBN songs (if applicable) are factored in to all of the above. Other optional upgrades (e.g. fixes) don’t include anything but harmonies, if they have any at all, so you’d have to start merging .mids together in Reaper or another editor of your choice. At some point I would like to set something up where you just put all the ‘pieces’ you want in a folder (e.g. buddyholly.keys.mid, buddyholly.pg.mid, buddyholly.harm.mid) and the packager merges all the .mids together, but I haven’t had time to sit down and see if that’s viable/feasible.

                  2. Yes.
