I took a quick look at the song and you’ve really done a great job. Drums, bass and keys are close to being as they should be. Guitar I don’t hear the pattern you chose: did you replicate keys? Anyway, I’m sure it’s a matter of understanding what works better, I don’t think guitar is something you can’t do at a good level.

The main issue is vocals. Pitches are fine, which is good. Timing is off, notes start way too early as a general rule. However, the main thing is you don’t use slides, so all notes are flat and they don’t rise and descend. If you want to go through with this the first thing you need to address are vocals: maybe check Nyx’s vocals tutorial, but make sure you understand both concepts (attack timing and slides) because that’s the only thing preventing this song from being a solid release. Good job!

Thanks for the compliments Farottone. Concerning guitar I know the album mix usually buries the guitar part so I tracked down isolated quadrophonic mixes that bring it out and I used that as my reference. It does tend to mirror the piano chords so that doesn’t help. I would’ve left it out altogether but there is that guitar riff in the outro. By far guitar is my weak spot with charting.

Regarding vocals I will say I have done my homework as far as tutorials so if I’m still off which my charting would you or someone mind fixing one measure or verse for me so I can see what I need to do. I’d like to get my technique squared away before I proceed charting more songs.

I’m glad you think it’s close to being ready. After all the work I’ve done and will do on this project I really want it to be a C3 release

Sure, I can do that. This week I have a conspicuous release, but next week I can definitely do that.

Great. I have a few more songs that are close to being done. I’ll work on those in the mean time. I know it’s early but if I get on a roll here do you think it’s best to release stuff as they’re done or wait for one big release as you did with Genesis?

Let’s cross that bridge later on because the amount of songs you want to do poses another problem altogether, which is who would sponsor them and who would sanity check them, which means going through the song one more time before release. Let’s work on one song and deal with that later.

Agreed. With the volume of work it’s going to take I think packs are the way to go.

That’s the thing: we don’t do series of packs/singles at close distance and we don’t tend to do many packs/singles from one artist anyway. Let’s first get your authoring where it needs to be, we’ll then worry about how to deal with the output.

Added the first half of my CTA pack. The rest will be coming this week. Waiting on some more contributions from others.

Has anyone had a chance to review my charts?

Did you do the vocals after my review or are they still “old style”?

They were redone. Not the Wake Up Sunshine song. That’s going to be saved for the next pack of songs. The 3 from CTA are what I’m most concerned about.

Don’t bother with South California Purples. I just realized I uploaded an old project file. Will rectify by the morning.
