Chart-a-thon 2023Releases

Chart-a-Thon 2023, Day 7, Slot 1: Black Eyed Peas 01!

I know I often say with such surprise “Why has no one charted [short-lived British rock band of the 00s] yet??” but (The) Black Eyed Peas have got to be one of the best selling artists of the digital age!

Rock Band 4 brought “I Gotta Feeling” as DLC in 2016 which is too little too late if you ask me, and there are actually a couple of their biggest hits in the database, but there is so much more to go! So here are 8 more from their 3 big albums…

2003 (Elephunk)

This is the album version of Hey Mama, Guitar is Sparse and I did consider mirroring keys on guitar, but I’ve gone with authenticity. The single version contained more Fergie, steel drums and was featured in the live action Garfield film with Bill Murray as a pretty pivotal plot point.

Anxiety features Papa Roach, giving it hard guitar riffs and absolutely no Fergie.. She might have just wanted to be out of the room while will.i.am “wanted to slap somebody, just turn about and bitch slap somebody” due to *checks notes* the anxiety…

And Shut Up has such a great duel duet, making it a great party choice.

2005 (Monkey Business)

Don’t Lie was the song that made me start charting the pack, clear guitar, soothing harmonies, It’s just one I really enjoy playing.

Don’t Phunk With My Heart is another classic, they all are! It was their highest charting single at the time, and probably helps like many of their songs, they interpolated (which I think is the legal term for stole) a couple of Bollywood tracks and an 80s single, which primary school me would have no idea about!

2009 – (The E.N.D)

I’m sure many people wish this was the end of (The) Black Eyed Peas, and I count it as such.

Meet Me Halfway I finished right at the end of this pack as it was so popular, I don’t think I could have passed on it. I was a struggling with the drums a little until I found out the drums and guitar come from Maps by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, which is already in Rock Band so that helped.

Now Generation is another I really wanted to chart for me, It’s a proper band song, even if the lyrics are a little cheesy and dated “Facebook is that new place” and the classic “Google is my professor”

Out of My Head is a Fergie centric song and this isn’t the censored version, This is just how it goes “I am tired of all these mother – I don’t give a-” and the lyrics sound like DashieXP freestyling. But the bass is funky, you can’t deny that!

A little trailer 🙂 Full chart videos on each song page

So that’s it for now! will I do a pack 02? It’s on the list! There’s a few of my favorites I’ve not done yet, and some hits too! A HUGE thank you to TomGuy who I dumped with expert charts to get them made into full customs, adding OD phrases, Practice Sections, detailed Lipsync, Difficulty Reductions, and amazing venues! (Shut Up, Don’t Lie, Don’t Phunk With My Heart and Hey Mama)

It’s a lovely Christmas treat that we all bring a so many customs to the community, and if it inspires you to donate to this year’s Chart-A-Thon cause, then all the better! This year is in support of Down Syndrome and if you’d like to donate what you would have spent on these, had they been DLC, you are free to do so here 🙂 https://dsaom.org/

I will see you soon in another collaborative release from the AIRHeads…
