GOB: “You want us for Use Your Illusion?”
Tony Wonder: “Actually, some band has got the rights to that title, so I’m thinking, like…
Use Your Illusion II?”
Got some hot ham tracks for you this week! So good for Rock Band; and yet there’s a smack of ham to them.
farottone continues Guns N’ Roses’ triumphant party-crashing of the C3 library with three huge songs from Use Your Illusion I.  Appetite isn’t the only GnR album that was sorely absent from official DLC, and nothing will drive that point home better than these tracks. The power ballad “Don’t Cry” opens the pack, with the (Original) moniker to separate it from the (Alt. Lyrics) version released on Use Your Illusion II. “Live and Let Die” — which would have fit right in with our covers week —  invites you to put on a tuxedo, shoot a bunch of Russians, and participate in an over-the-top poker game in Montenegro. The epic “November Rain” closes out the pack, giving you plenty of excuses this week to bust out your lighter and sway slowly back and forth. Though, um, not while you’re playing the songs. And preferably not under a smoke detector.
This week marks Nyxyxylyth’s third ELO song, the catchy “Sweet Talkin’ Woman”. Why did we release these on separate weeks instead of as a pack? Because we could, of course! “Sweet Talkin’ Woman” features some excellent call-and-response vocals, and is a great way to fill out your classic rock library.
RyanHYK steps in this week with another “why didn’t they get DLC?” band: Primus! Apparently Harmonix agreed that Primus sucks, so they only got one song (“Jerry Was a Race Car Driver”) on the RB3 disc. “Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver” brings back the crazy bassline you associate with Primus, and a fun guitar line and 2x Bass Pedal chart with it.
Finally, TrojanNemo brings back three of his best in this week’s From the Vault throwback. Keane is a pretty famous British band, but if you haven’t heard of them, imagine that Muse, Oasis, and the Neon Trees had some kind of weird 3-way baby. “Everybody’s Changing”, “Is It Any Wonder?”, and “Somewhere Only We Know” are all cut from the same cloth, but it’s a really nice cloth! If you like alt-rock at all, I highly recommend that you check these out. (And “Is It Any Wonder?” has full multitrack support!)
Now is the best time to join us and author your own tracks! Check out our forums to get the skinny. A full guide is coming soonish, we promise.
See you next Friday!

  1. I just want to say that I love that you guys publish the new songs at 10am on Fridays. It was a bit strange for those few weeks before you spun up when there was no new Rock Band content to look forward to on Friday mornings. So again, thanks.
Is there any way we can donate to help with your website/bandwidth costs?

    1. Since I totally forgot to have pksage add the information in the blog’s post, reductions for the GnR songs are thanks to bandolero1, who did a great job. Thanks man, I really appreciate the help!

  2. Just curious but would it be possible for Farottone to do the Paul McCartney version of Live and Let Die? I’d imagine it wouldn’t be too time consuming since the basics are in place, maybe just shifting some gems around. I might give it a shot myself actually lol

    1. I would love some Paul McCartney/Wings tracks on here! You guys could release the two GH DLC tracks that were never released for RB….Hi,Hi,Hi and Juniors Farm. I would love them in Rock Band.

  3. OMG Primus! I love this song sooooo much! It was a huge part of my teen years. I cannot wait to play it this weekend! Thanks RyanHYK and C3!! 😀 😀 😀

  4. Awesome pack! Love the GNR and Primus. I’ve wanted Live and Let Die and November Rain so bad. I sense another 30+ song set coming Sunday. GNR Greatest Hits are nearly already covered minus about 4 tracks. Thanks guys!

  5. Wonderful set. Thank you so much for Sweet Talkin’ Woman – I’m still hoping for the complete “Out Of The Blue” album, but this’ll do. Gonna play this stuff tonight if I can muster up the energy.

  6. Very nice..interesting the three pack GnR didn’t come as it’s original video trilogy choices (w/ Estranged). But love Live and Let Die, so I can still smile. Hopefully the last of the trilogy will come later, with some off Use Your Illusion 2.
