Is it Dude Looks Like A Lady?
June 24, 2013 at 8:08 am in reply to: The C3 Hint Thread: June 28th, 2013 – Twenty Questions Edition #402051Does the artist/band have any tracks in RB already, customs or official?
Finally got to play Nightswimming. Keys and Vox.
Great job, Farottone. Never thought I’d see this song on RB.
Live and Let Die was awesome on Keys and Vox.
Then a few hours later Grosse Point Blank came on at the convenience store part with that song.
Perfect.
“Who are you? What are you doing here? Where do you live?
How long have you worked here? Where’s your manager?
Where does he live?
Ok, what’s done is done.”
because they’re in Rock Band, but they’re not really, because it’s not *really* them as we all know and love…I don’t follow. don’t we have a whole Chinese Democracy something or other from them in the game?
Because the Chinese Democracy version of the band is the “not *really* them as we all know and love”?
[*] This track by an artist already in Rock Band is a cover of a track by an artist that is in Rock Band (but the track isn’t).Guns N Roses – Live and Let Die
And here I am, playing the song since last September, MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!Not being able to play Nightswimming yet is making me all like…
This Boy exists by way of Orange Harrison and it’s awesome.
He did Rain too.
Pass again. The streak continues…Ugh. I know the whole point of forums is for every to contribute their feedback and what not, but this was annoying when it was legit dlc that was purchased as a customer. I know you’re entitled to your opinion, but these posts come off so much worse now that EVERYTHING IS FREE and LITERALLY ANY SONG can be created by ANYONE.
At this point, any version of “Nothing again. X weeks in a row now.” is just less than useless.
Every time I read a post like that, I picture the person sadly kicking rock as they shuffle away with The Incredible Hulk’s “sad, walking away” music playing all around them.
Apologies if I’m coming off like a dick, but I seriously can’t see how people can still have complaints like this with the situation being the way it is. Seriously. I am being for serious.
For my part, I’ll just ignore these types of posts from now on, but I figured I’d allow myself this one time to call it out. Thanks, yo!
We can always use more playtesters. Always.Am I the only one who dreads vocals charting and venue animations but doesn’t mind reductions? Reductions take like 20 minutes per instrument tops for most verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus songs.
Well I hope I can help you with those in the future!
As for playtesting, I’m all for contributing there too, I just thought you were pretty much filled up.
As I mentioned earlier, I play everything on Expert except Drum/Pro Drums & Pro Keys on Medium/Hard.
If that’s of help and you still need people, please sign me up!
Ok so, reductions, venue animation, dry vox, & play testing.
Any and all of these skills that I can get a handle on, I will happily do for CCC songs.
Hopefully after a little while at getting familiar with those processes, it will make it easier for me to jump into full custom making later on when I can devote more time to it.
In the same way Farottone gave me a sample for reductions, can someone post a practice file for doing venue animations and dry vox?
Thank you all for your suggestions.
After I play around with these over the next few days, I’ll send my work to a few of the admin to see if it’s up to snuff and if it is, then count me in.
Yeah, I’m always willing to entertain more playtesters, but I have a preference for keys/pro keys/vocals testers and/or people with broader musical tastes.I can give it a go on Keys and Vocals on Expert and Pro Keys on Med/Hard.
I guess I’d prefer to try my hand at a couple Guitar/Bass songs first since those are my primary instruments, but if it was not too crazy a Keys song, like 4 or below, I could most likely get through all of it in one piece.
Vocals are not a problem, as far as difficulty in game, but I think I’d need just a quick heads up what to look for there as I don’t play it often. If I get my wife to help out, that’s a different story.
She plays Expert Vocals, and that’s it, from the very first RB. She’s pretty damn good too, consistent Gold Stars to this day, so she could be a big help with this and I’m sure she’d help out with that occasionally too.
I also have a pretty wide music taste and I don’t mind play testing songs from genres that fall outside that.
NIGHTSWIMMING
Are you serious?
You really picked one of the best songs ever with this track, Farottone.
Easily, one of, if not my absolute favorite song by R.E.M.
LOOOOOVE that piano. Damn, dude. Well done.
This is a file missing EMH:http://keepitfishy.com/farottone/twilightzone.rar
Fairly easy, this should get you acquainted with a Reaper project. Also, since it was asked, feedback is welcome:_ doing reductions I most of the time discover things I missed in a previous pass.
Thanks! Will get on practicing this over the weekend.
Other ways to help in addition to reductions are:– become a specialist for creating venue events such as the lighting, close-ups, camera angles, etc. It is a little like being a producer of a music video. It is not difficult at all. Just a bit tedious. (Reaper required)
– become a specialist for recording dry vox for songs where there is no isolated vocal track. You would need to be able to nail the phrasing of songs perfectly (expert level singer.)
Definitely will do venue events & dry vox if I can swing it, especially venue stuff.
Between these two and the reductions, that’s a really good start.
Here’s the thing, is it anything like playtesting? Because if it’s is, I may have difficulty. Once I hit Expert, all lower levels seem too slow and I screw up even worse when I try to drop down. Hard is sometimes manageable, but Easy and Medium feel too wonky. I’ll do my best to adapt, but it could be a hurdle. I’d love to get in touch with you guys about doing reductions for the lower difficulties of the CCC output.
Reductions are done entirely in Reaper. Someone would give you a Reaper file that has the Expert instruments charted, then you would be making the lower difficulties inside that file. You don’t need to actually play the charts. Vocals would not need touched since the scoring is the only thing that changes. The other four instruments, however, involve some basic Reaper knowledge as farottone mentioned, but you don’t need any musical knowledge and you may even be able to get by without an audio file in some cases.
Ok, Reaper is where to start. I found the reduction info. And Reaper is on mac too, so that will make this a lot easier for me. Downloading it now. Can someone send me a reaper file to practice with? Like some previously released and super easy/short song?
Thanks!
