I was afraid you would say that… I suppose at this point starting clean is the way to go, but reloading 750 songs isnt that appealing.
It will fail building a song cache if the DTA has certain errors. Take out songs until you can identify the problem files.
So… a year and a half later…. I’m still having this problem, and I had just given up, but all of the recent releases have me psyched to play again. I’ve deleted a bunch of songs, going way back to months before this problem started and then I reset the cache, but the problem remains. The game loads fine until it attempts to build the song list. At that point the screen simply freezes and all I can do is unplug the Wii.

It’s freezing as songs are loading? Otherwise, if bad data is cached, the game will always freeze at the setlist.
Yes. So do I need to then delete the cache after I delete the songs, and add them back one by one? It takes forever to rebuild, once you delete the cache…

Spoke too soon… Once it finished reimporting my songs (since I had reset the cache), it freezes Rock Band right when it starts to build the song list to select from. I restarted and tried again three times, and it locks in the same spot each time.
I am still having this problem. I deleted a bunch of songs from the SD, but it still freezes when it goes to build the song list… I was going to give up and redo everything in Dolphin, until I saw that you can’t use a mic with that.

June 6, 2016 at 6:09 pm in reply to: Prince Retrospective Part One and Part Two Now Available #469952thanks for part one i downloaded 3 songs –
Let’s Go Crazy
1999
Little Red Corvette
i hope part two has:
When Doves Cry
Batdance
Purple Rain
Alphabet St.
The Most Beautiful Girl In The World
As a huge Prince fan, I can’t thank the authors enough for their efforts. It is really amazing to have any of these classic tracks available to us. Trying to limit pt 2 to songs that a lot of people will know and that will translate well to Rock Band makes it pretty tricky. For example, my wife loves “7”, but it seems to me that the song would be a bore on instruments. Alphabet St and TMBGITW seem similar to me, but maybe I’m wrong. Batdance seems too electronic to translate well either. Purple Rain seems like a slam dunk though. Since pt 1 had six songs, I’ll take a crack at it, just for fun.
1. Purple Rain
2. Baby I’m a Star
3. Sign O’ The Times
4. U Got The Look
5. Partyman
6. Colonized Mind
I left off most of the ballads and songs that don’t seem to feature a lot of instruments, but this is just going from memory rather than a true knowledge of the makeup of the songs. Colonized Mind seems to fit into the slot of Hardrocklover in pt 1. Other songs I considered, but left off my list/guess are:
Dirty Mind, Uptown, Pop Life, Housequake, Starfish and Coffee, I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man, Glam Slam, Dance On, Batdance, Lemon Crush, Diamonds & Pearls, Cream, Sexy MF, My Name Is Prince, Cindy C, Loose!, P Control, 319, Jam Of The Year, Everyday Is A Winding Road, Musicology, Life O’ the Party, Fury, Guitar, Dreamer, There’ll Never B (Another Like Me)
Honestly, I’ll be thrilled with whatever gets featured in the release. Can’t wait until Sat!
#1: All The Kids Are Right – Local H
This is extremely exciting. Assuming these are the artists, I’ll guess one each, then give way to better surmises:
-Sting – Desert Rose
-Aerosmith – Janie’s Got A Gun
-Billy Joel – hardest choice by far, but I’m going off the beaten path with “This is the Time”
Can’t go wrong, really. Looking forward to it!
I’m going with
Aerosmith – Back In The Saddle. I don’t have a guess on Sting or Billy Joel tracks.Nevermind… That’s an official release…
April 28, 2016 at 2:33 pm in reply to: Prince Retrospective Part One and Part Two Now Available #467800Oh wow! I could not be more excited for a project. I can’t wait to see what is going to be included. He has such a great and varied catalog, so you can’t really go wrong. Big thanks in advance to all who are helping out!

I’ve had this same problem many times, and I finally found a solution that always works for me.
Go into your Wii settings, then data management, and look at the Wii save data. Find any data that can be copied to the SD card (even homebrew channel save data works), and copy it. Then you should be able to play RB3 without the error. Let me know if this works.
Looks like that worked! Thanks a million! Stack should add that to the FAQ.
I’m not sure what causes the error that disables SD card mode. Could you use WiiXplorer to check the DLC directories on your NAND? It might actually be trying to transfer content.
I can try. What exactly am I looking for? Pardon my ignorance. I hacked my Wii ages ago, and haven’t had to dive into it in a really long time.
I’ve added a bunch of songs, and just now had a chance to try them out. Unfortunately something’s wrong. When I load the game and enable the SD, it says that there is content that needs transferred from the SD, which I expected. When it goes to do the transfer though, I get an “unknown error” message which then disables the SD.
I tried removing the newer songs from the SD card, but I’m still getting the same error. Maybe I didn’t go back far enough, but I am pretty sure I got them all. I also tried resetting the cache, but that made no difference.
BTW, I am not using emulated NAND. I load the game using USB-Loader.
