You just get another song.ini file and edit it to insert the data for your song. As far as I know, there isn’t any relevant difference between Phase Shift’s song.ini and CH’s song.ini.

Also, if you’re using a .chart file, you can just not have a song.ini file (reminder that your .chart file must be named notes.chart). However, your song will have less metadata (no album name, for instance, if I recall correctly). So a song.ini file is better in that regard, but not essential.

That said, apparently Moonscraper already generates a song.ini for you (judging from the “Moonscraper generated Song.ini” screenshot). If it does generate it, then you shouldn’t really worry.

Also, a brief reminder that (at least for now), this is a forum about Rock Band 3 customs, not Clone Hero. I don’t know if you’re breaking any rules (a bit too lazy to double-check, and I’ll be honest, I don’t really care), this is just a heads up. Clone Hero has a Discord server full of people willing to assist you (probably? maybe), so join that if you wish (the link to join it is in the game’s main menu, iirc).

 

Edit: I misunderstood your issue, sorry. Moonscraper’s autogenerated song.ini was supposed to work (CH requires way less data than PS), idk why it didn’t. But the only solution I can come up with is what you did; fix it yourself, using a working song.ini file as base. AFAIK there isn’t a song.ini generator (C3CON Tools converts rb3con files; it won’t work on .charts and isn’t a song.ini generator itself). I know there’s one for Frets on Fire – a quick Google search will lead you to that – but that’s probably outdated, so I wouldn’t recommend it. If you want something to generate song.ini files, I would suggest looking for a Phase Shift-specific song.ini generator.

I’m a bit late, sorry, but yes, it’s possible. You’re gonna need a USB to MIDI device though, I have a ESI RoMI/O my dad gave me a while ago, but anything works, really.

 

You’ll need to:

1. Plug the keyboard into your PC, via USB;
2. Plug the USB to MIDI device into your PC, via USB;

3. Plug the MIDI OUT from the USB to MIDI device on the MIDI-PRO Adapter;

4. Plug the MIDI-PRO Adapter into your XBOX, PS3 or Wii;

5. Use MIDI-OX to “route” the output from the keyboard to the USB to MIDI device.

 

To do that,

1. When both cables are plugged onto the PC, open MIDI-OX;

2. Go to Options > MIDI Devices;

3. On MIDI Inputs, select your keyboard;

4. On MIDI Outputs, select your USB to MIDI device (all of them, if it appears more than once);

5. Play a few notes to ensure it is working. The events should appear on MIDI-OX’s screen, and a small light will blink on the MIDI-PRO Adapter.

 

If the MIDI-PRO Adapter blinks in a SOS pattern, it means it’s not picking up the keyboard’s input. Check your connection, but it’s probably the USB to MIDI device, or MIDI-OX isn’t configurated properly.

If no MIDI events show up in MIDI-OX when you play on your keyboard, ensure you’ve configurated MIDI-OX properly, or that the keyboard’s USB cable is properly connected.

Troubleshooting dropped notes, if it ever happens, might be a bit more troublesome, since it can be anything.

 

It’s a bit of a mess, initially, but once you get it to work it’s alright, really. That’s how I play drums on my Yamaha DTX-400k.

Again, sorry for bumping this, but it might be helpful for people searching the forum for an answer (and for the OP, of course). So, here you go. Feel free to shoot any questions, if you have them.

UPDATE

• If the program is unable to read a midi, it’ll try to use midishrink to fix it.
• (MIDI2ProGuitar) If two notes share the same string upon conversion, the converter will try to adapt that, and throw an error if it is unable to (e.g. if it happens on the lowest string).

This should make the conversion process a bit handier. If anyone finds any bug, please tell me!

Thanks for the link! I’m writing this in C#, later I’ll take a look to see if there’s a C# library to read .gp* files. If there isn’t I’ll just try to write it in Python anyway (good excuse to learn a new language!), I’ll just need a library to read and write MIDI files, but I’m pretty sure there are a few handy ones out there.

This doesn’t, this simply converts regular MIDI notes into a rough Pro Guitar chart (or vice-versa), it doesn’t check for sustains or anything else (besides a note being lower than the lowest possible note).

 

I’m not familiar with Guitar Pro, so I can’t really compare. I’ll take a look into it, later, though.

If it’s something that also converts “regular notes” into a guitar tab, it’ll probably just do a much better job than my tool, that’s for sure. In such case, I could just try to write a Guitar Pro to Pro Guitar (lol) converter, if I can find any documentation on how its format works (unlikely), or if I’m able to figure that out myself.

Also, I forgot to mention that this is good to verify the accuracy of Pro Guitar/Bass charts. As it’s easy to insert a wrong velocity value (by miscalculation or accident), just drag the .mid file to the tool and listen to the resulting MIDI. If it sounds accurate, then the chart is accurate!
