This is a great song and very fun on guitar! Thanks!

Ooooh! It begins! Thanks for all these!

    Some suggestions:

The Hollies – The Air That I Breathe

Beautiful song with some great guitar lines. Some say it was the inspiration for Radiohead – Creep, but I think it’s an even better song.

Richard Hell and the Voidoids – Blank Generation

I’ve been vaguely thinking about doing this song but I’m totally stalled now when it comes to charting and this is such a great song I would prefer if great charters did it anyways. It’s a totally exciting rock song with angry crazed vocals and constant guitar theatrics.

    Praying for Kate Bush!

Can’t really think of anything that jumps out for “tribute song”, except just “Tribute”, but we’ve already got that lol.

    2 and 3 please!

    This game needs more Kinks!

Hey, dunno if you’d be interested but I actually have a Frank Zappa – Willie the Pimp chart from my FoF days that might make a decent jumping off point. It’s tempo-mapped, and with a guitar chart and like, 25% of a drum chart. And pitched vocals too, but they are probably pretty bad (grid snapped to 32nds or something, and the pitches probably aren’t great).

    1. Master of None (one of the best TV shows of the last 5 years)

    2. Narcos (only seen season 1 ATM though)

    3. BoJack Horseman

    4. Making a Murderer

    5. Marvel’s Daredevil

Also, if I can count Black Mirror Season 3 that’d be at #2.

    I’ll go 1 and 3.

The idea of Naked City / John Zorn in Rock Band excites me. Good luck!

Also, did you finish Hammerhead? I noticed it’s crossed out but no link. I realise it probably won’t be much fun in-game (and annoying wait for 11 seconds) but I’d probably download it anyway lol.

OK, thanks for the replies and sorry I didn’t for a bit.

Tempo changes (where the “set time signature” checkbox is not checked) of course do not have this restriction and can be placed in the middle of a measure. So what you mentioned about the bar line not being synced up to a tempo mark is not necessarily an error (as long as it doesn’t set a time signature, and the notes are still lined up afterward).

Yeah, I can imagine you could have them not be on barlines… it was just I imported something from EoF where they were all *supposed* to be on barlines but one wasn’t for some reason. Basically, I was trying to use a new audio source because the old one had a glitch and so was a tiny bit shorter – so the tempo was a tiny bit fast. And trying to fix it just seemed to always misallign the changes from the barlines.

I’m just redoing it now because it’s less headache inducing.

I do this all the time.

    [snip]

Yeah, this all makes sense as well. I remember now doing similar stuff in EoF… though that was only when you needed a tempo marker between a *beat*. It’s sort of annoying we can’t (or I can’t) fanangle REAPER into being able to audodetect which beat I want to sync to, like EoF does.

In my Reaper currently the manual command to insert a tempo change and/or time signature change is Shift+C (on the main window, not a midi editor window). If that does not work for you go to “Actions” > “Show action list…” > “Insert time signature/tempo change marker at edit cursor”, and see what it is bound to or bind a new shortcut if you want.

But that’s not the same as what “Q” does, is it? Because Q moves the barline to be where the change is… if I insert a tempo change off a barline like that, the beats will still be messed up.

    #1 and #3

Mostly play guitar. Used to play a lot of drums but haven’t got a good place to set them up ATM (might try to fanangle it and play them though). Also usually try vocals but I’m crap at them.

FYI You can still work in EOF. Just make sure you change your settings to Rock Band so that it saves the extra Rock Band files. Then just drag your midi over to Reaper to finish it all up

Yeah, I thought you might be able to, but TBH, it’d been AGES since I used EOF anyways so I thought I might as well work in the one that seems the editor du jour if I’m gonna have to relearn anyways… though maybe I’ll check it out. REAPER does feel a little cluttered to me.

Alright, started work on my next song – my favourite Roy Orbison track – “It’s Over”.

I decided I would try EOF for this, and there are so many things I love about it over REAPER to be honest. It’s obvious that EOF is purpose-made for authoring whereas REAPER is really a weird hack. However, seems like it doesn’t do pro keys or vocal harmonies currently. I’m not too bothered about the keys (would be a weird really difficult to transcribe mish-mash of orchestral instrumentation) but having a go at the harmonies might have been nice. I guess I should be able to do THOSE in REAPER in theory?

    Hey, I like this idea.

I think the nomenclature is a bit confusing though. Maybe you should call the one “vote” a “nomination” instead? Seems to make more sense to me. And call the 3 “upvotes” just “votes”.

I’m not sure what to nominate though. Outside of nominating your own customs, which makes sense, what else makes sense to nominate? Just something you think is good and deserves confirmation / recognition? Using that logic, I’ll nominate this:

    Frank Zappa – Alien Orifice [AJFOne23 / nsw1-6 / MrBurpler]

As for the votes… well, another question… can you vote for your own song? I’m gonna guess “no” for now and vote for:

    Chicago – I’m a Man [AJFOne23]

    Chicago – Dialogue [AJFOne23]

Crowded House – Don’t Dream It’s Over [Ed Tanguy]

Not quite sure when we’re allowed to start submissions for week 2 but I’d like to submit:

    Collective Soul – December [bansheeflyer]

Yes, I’m gonna nominate myself but honestly I’m really pleased with the way this song turned out. Plus it’s got one of Ultimate_MANG0s excellent venues (I’ll nominate someone else next week I promise).

BTW, unless I’m wrong, we are still on Week 1, right? The original post was on Friday (at least, in my timezone).

I think this is appropriate to post here? Is there an issue with the embedded pictures? Maybe I’m being incredibly stupid and missing the image, but in section 14 Exporting and CON Production it keeps saying to “use the settings in the image” but I can’t find any such image…
