Upon further testing, seems the PS4 has a limit of 2500 entitlement (I hope this is per game, but never know. Cant really check as Rock Band 4 is the only use of my 5.05 ps4 atm). If you convert your song 1 per package, that’s a maximum of 2500 added songs.
Rock Band 4 also seems to dislike big package, at first I tough it was based on amount of song in pack, but currently testing to see if it’s based on size.
Edit: After more testing, it appears the pak limit is on size, keeping it under 100mb seems to provide working paks. (So about 100mb worth of con files)
Thanks for these!
Got all of these songs to convert for PS4 use (with no lipsync and animation), except “Day Tripper” which crash the converter due to some unexpected midi error, but using an older version from Petriz worked fine.
Thanks again, with these, I can finally unplug my PS3 for good!
In case people want to get multi-track song working properly, each drum parts need to be on their own line in the DTA, depending on the drum mix used
example:
(tracks
(
(drum (0 1))
(drum (2 3))
(drum (4 5))
...
Yes, they do crash on solo. It’s the quick no-gap pitch shift that is the culprit, since I fixed them all by manually adding gap in reaper. Haven’t really seen problem with harmony, but then I don’t really know what these songs are supposed to look like on RB3, but then I only tested a 100-ish out of the, let say, multiple thousands song I converted.
The crash happens on song with no harmony, with 2 part harmony, 3 part. As long as the part you are playing has a no-gap quick pitch change, usually back in forth like in my picture. Downward. Never seen it crash on an upward only no-gap pitch shift (like the “a-” in the picture)
Also keep in mind, that it’s not guaranteed that it will crash if you have one of those in your song. Sometime, even on the same song, without modifying it, it will crash the first time you play it, but won’t the second time. Let’s just say it was a pain to figure out what was causing the crash, until I encountered the song I took the picture of, that was pretty obvious.
Been fixing a bunch of Avenged Sevenfold so they stop crashing on PS4, just hope it’s not too common of an occurrence in other band/author/songs
And just figured out that the command line tool creates package that will install, but not show up in the game (when finding new song, the counter goes up, but they don’t appear in the song list).
Created a pkg of the same song with the command line tool and the gui tool, and compared the files. There seems to be a lot of difference between them.
Edit: Another problem I found. Any Multitrack song (both Guitar Hero conversion and Original C3 release), the sound track are messed up.
Playing drum:
Missing the Bass Pedal note mutes the whole drum track, and it won’t come back until you hit another bass pedal note.
Missing Red/Snare mutes the Bass track.
Missing Toms or Cymbals (Yellow, Blue, Green), mutes the guitar track.
This is using single converted song via ForgeToolGUI-0.1.163
Tested with a bunch of Guitar Hero: Metallica conversion and one of the latest Multi-Track C3 release (Thin Lizzy – Jailbreak)
While this is not too bad once the drum kicks in and you don’t miss too many notes, intro of song that have no drums are mostly silent.
Sorry to bump this, but it does say “Please report all the issues you run into either in this thread or on GitHub!”
So just gonna dump this here in case it provides some useful data.
Out of about 8 song I tried (all GH:Metallica convert to RB3 custom taken from the database here), 4 of them crashed during the middle of the song. IE: Master of Puppets crashes right at the end of the 2nd solo. It’s not random, it crashes at the same spot everytime, no matter what instrument you are using.
It’s not a full system crash, I can use the PS button to close the game and restart.
I’m running 2.13 (latest patch for 5.05)
Song that have crashed so far are
Master of Puppets
The Unforgiven
Fight Fire with Fire
No Leaf Clover
Song that haven’t crashed so far include Welcome Home, Fade to Black, That was just your life (which always crashed for me on RB3 ps3, but that’s not related)
Edit: Out of the remaining 29 GH:Metallica songs, only 1 more crashed (what are the odds of that after going 4/. The song is “From Whom the Bell Tolls” and crashes a few seconds in.
And they all work after passing the CON through Midi cleaner in C3ConTool.
Check for a line that starts with “;ORIG_ID= ” and where the rest of the line (the actual ID) is on a separate line.
;ORIG_ID=
xxxxxxxxxx
('song_id' xxxxxxxxxx)
Giving you a faulty dta. Either delete the first id, or remove the superfluous new line. Making it look like.
;ORIG_ID=xxxxxxxxxx
('song_id' xxxxxxxxxx)
Happened to me when bundling RPHP upgrade to “retail” con and then merging with the “Change song Id to numeric value” is ticked
Edit: And if anybody is still maintaining C3ConTool and want to reproduce. Grab any RBN song CON that has an RBHP update, use the upgrade bundler bundling the upgrade to the Con, than merge with “Change song Id to numeric value”. The dta will have a newline inserted between ;ORIG_ID and the actual ID.
Small update on my big rant about the song limit (and my convoluted idea how to get around to it). Seems webman leaves a ftp server running while in game, so switching songs.dta while the game is running is a posibility. Now just need to find a way to reload the song list in-game, without needing to log into psn.
For our PAL users, I need you to search your PS3’s HDD and list the folders used by Rock Band. On NTSC systems, these three folders contain all the RB games and exports:
dev_hdd0/game/BLUS30050
dev_hdd0/game/BLUS30147
dev_hdd0/game/BLUS30463
Would love your help in getting those folders for a PAL system.
The first post, under the PAL USER spoiler panel has these number
"/dev_hdd0/game/BLES00986/" (RB3 DLC)
"/dev_hdd0/game/BLES00385/" (RB2/RBN1.0 DLC)
"/dev_hdd0/game/BLES00228/" (RB1 DLC)Half-Life 3
I’m out of idea atm, maybe Pro-Drum upgrades are not compatible with ps3, but then they did fix a bunch of early dlc with on-disc pro drum upgrade, so that is doubtful.
And there is a few formating difference between the 2 songs.dta, unsure if they matters, ‘song’ and ‘name’ etc as opposed to song and name
And there is the rating line, but I’m guessing that’s the rating we give the song in game, lol…
To Blackened and Hamburgerjung – I want to throw out a huge “Thank You” for the in-roads you guys have made with harmony upgrades!!!That said, I’m hoping you guys will help me over the rough spots as I’m getting started with this ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
I’m trying to upgrade for the RBN Pro Drum fix on Creed’s “Higher”. I followed the steps you guys laid out (creating the songs_upgrades subfolder, encrypting the mid.edat file, substituting the songs file in the Creed folder, etc.) Problem is, the song listing shows up but is grayed-out in the index. If I click on it, the PS3 freezes. I tried a little troubleshooting and restored the Higher songs DTA file back to the original (but left the songs_upgrades folder intact). That un-grayed the listing, but now I get the “skipping song” message. The mystifying thing is, the two DTA files appear to be exactly the same
Have either of you tried this process with a RBN file?
Any other thought???
Thanks!
In which folder did you put the songs_upgrades subfolder? I highly suggest putting it in the same “HMX0756” as custom songs, because that make the encrypting requiring the same kLicense/rap/contentid as regular custom.
Also, keep in mind that encrypting *_plus.edat will most likely suffer the same problem as some custom song, namely, some file will fail unless encrypted using method 2 with a higher delay, and even then, I am unsure the “encrypt replacement midi” uses method 2, so you might have to do it manually using true ancestor.
I will try “Higher” right now, see if I get it to work myself.
Edit 1: Just following the Pro bass/guit crappy “tutorial” I wrote above (aka not changing the songs.dta) make the song show regularly for me with pro drum activated, but fail to load. I will try encrypting it with method #2 see if that fixes it. I think the only time replacing songs.dta is needed is when you have Harmonies and/or keyboard added (and obviously the song info fixes).
Edit 2: Manually encrypting it didn’t work either. I’m not too sure what is going on. I’m a bit short on time, did you get any other RBN pro-drum upgrade to work, or this was the first one you tried? By the way, to get the song back to working, you will have to delete the part about “Higher” in the upgrades.dta so the game stops trying to load the “faulty” _plus.mid.edat.
Here we go:
1. Is there a way to get all same songs I previously purchased into new ps3 modified system, I’m assuming I can simply re-download all original dlc HMX had on this site and much more?
A: Already answered, you can’t from here, but you can redownload your own dlc on CFW using a psn spoof, that’s what I did.
You are legally allowed to have 2 active ps3 with your download on it (it was 5 a few years ago, so some of your dlc should fall under that, but doesn’t matter). If you already have 2 ps3 activated for your dlc, you’ll have to deactivate 1 first. Then using psn spoof, just log into your account, and go to download list and redownload your dlc. As long as you dont do anything else with your CFW ps3 while you are logged onto psn, it should be safe. It was for me anyway.
2. Can I restore my save game files on new system?
A: Yes you can, you’ll need a save game resigner. That also worked for me
3. Is there a way to get all the songs via ftp for ps3 only? Is there special steps that is needed to dump them on ps3? It will take me a very long time to click each link individually to get same library I had and more… My plan was to install rb3 game on hdd and simply ftp the song/db on local ps3 drive.
A: You need to use C3ConTool, that process is explained at http://pksage.com/ccc/forums/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1678, and yes FTP is the way to go, but there is a few somewhat simple step before that, which can do batch jobs.
4. What is the basic step/procedure to get songs on a weekly basis going forward once setup, there is no conversation or pre-req steps needed, simply download and place them in specific folder location and play?
A: Same url as above
5. I’m assuming all existing rock band / madcatz gear will work like normal? I currently have real drums (roland hd-1) connected via usb/madcatz midi adapter plus official rock band 3 guitar and wireless bass, 2x mis and rb3 keys…
A: Yes as already answered
6. I just want to know if entire process is worthy as I host parties once a month and want to keep with songs you guys have are simply amazing (no license restriction crap).
A: It is, once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty easy. Just remember, Rock Band 3 can’t load more then 2952 songs, so you’ll never have access to it all at once, you’ll have to exit the game, swap a file and reload game to switch between song “bank”, if you plan on having a huge database of songs.
7. Is there a formal request process, I would be grateful to see “Prince” best of… pack. “PurpleRain” a must… ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
A: There is a song request forum, but it’s mostly for show, people tend to chart songs they like if I’m correct.
8. Still no way to have other buddies on modified ps3 to play over internet right?
A: You could play online on CFW with psn spoof, but that ramp’s up your chance of getting your console/psn account banned. I highly suggest against it. If you both have the same song, with the same song ID, you might even be able to play custom online, but that is just what my mind tells me, I don’t really know.
Also, once you got your stuff going, I’d take a look at the Rock Band Harmonies Project
And a rough “how to get the stuff to work on PS3”
I’m thinking of a workaround other then having to exit the game completely and swapping songs.dta.
Songs load from the song.dta file, and if I remember correctly, when you enter the Rock Band Store and exit, song list reload. If there was a way to swap between 2 songs.dta in our custom folder with the press of a button combination (or any other way, sending a command via the network to an apps that run in the background etc…), then entering/exiting the store would swap between our 2 songs.dta, giving us access to the other part of our songs without having to fully exit the game.
Keeping in mind that on ps3, you have to have CFW to play customs, so this isn’t all that far fetched.
Also, I’m thinking of decrypting all my official dlc and re-encrypting it to custom to make them all fit into 1 songs.dta to make the loading process that much faster. I’m pretty sure loading 1 songs.dta containing 2952 song is much much faster then loading 1000+ dlc folder containing 1 to 3 songs each. But that would be such a long process (days of works getting the KLicense info to decrypt it)
Combining the 2 above, would make a decent workaround to the song limit by giving us the ability to swap between 2 songs.dta without closing the game, and , possibly, much faster loading of said songs.dta
I’m just brainstorming randomly here, sorry. When I hit the 2952 songs limit, my hope of one giant Rock Band game with almost all the song available in it were crushed!
