May 10, 2013 – Audioslave, The Beatles, Neil Young, and White Lies!
Note: Videos may contain authoring issues that have been fixed, and are for preview purposes only.
The best weeks of Rock Band DLC are weeks full of “oh man, THAT song!” The only thing better is when a week seems custom-tailored just for you, but since we don’t know how many of you are into post-zydeco goth funk, we’ll keep trying to release famous songs that are fun to play on Rock Band instruments. This week’s songs are:
New! Singles
- Audioslave – “Like a Stone” (TrojanNemo)
- Audioslave – “Show Me How to Live” (TrojanNemo)
- The Beatles – “Rain” (Orange Harrison)
- Neil Young – “Rockin’ in the Free World” (TrojanNemo)
- White Lies – “Farewell to the Fairground” (GHtoRB3)
Everyone’s “oh, THAT song” mileage varies, but “Show Me How to Live” is a big one — you may know it as “NEYHL IN-UH MYY HAA-AAND, FROM MY CRE-AY-TUUHHRRR”. As a big radio single from 2003, it rode the wave of the nineties’ grunge sound, and will be familiar to anyone in their 20s. (And probably the rest of you, too.) C3 author TrojanNemo brings the Audioslave in force with that one and “Like a Stone”, another hit from their triple-platinum debut album.
Is classic rock more your thing? TrojanNemo also brings a new (though often-requested) artist to the game with Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World”, with charting and multitracks from GH6. This song didn’t chart as well as his earlier stuff, but remains a classic rock anthem. (Oh god, it came out in 1989. Is Bowling for Soup right? Are the ’80s officially classic rock now?) We’re also incredibly pleased to feature another full frequency-banded multitrack release by C3 contributor Orange Harrison: The Beatles’ “Rain”. Originally released as the B-side to “Paperback Writer”, you should absolutely check out this song’s Wikipedia page; there’s a lovely John Lennon quote about smoking huge amounts of weed to come up with the final verse’s backwards vocals.
The GHtoRB3 project brings us White Lies’s “Farewell to the Fairground” as an original custom this week. White Lies is a British post-punk band that you, like, probably haven’t heard of, man, but this song will rightfully change that. With catchy vocals crooning and a fun disco beat on drums, you should definitely give it a shot.
Finally, we’ve also got new Rock Band Harmonies Project releases today, with more LEGO: Rock Band songs and a ton of legacy Pro Guitar upgrades! Check out the full list below the fold, and visit the RBHP project for downloads.

Yes, backward singing! Very cool release all around mates, congrats to you all.
Yes! Picking up those Audioslave songs so fast! I can’t believe Harmonix only ever got one of their songs in Rock Band. Also, getting those harmony upgrades. Thanks guys!
Hell yeah White Lies! If ever you want to do more of them a couple songs off their first off album, “Death” and “To Lose My Life”, would be awesome in RB.
Glad to see Audioslave songs getting vocals =)

So does this mean that the encoding for Warriors Of Rock has FINALLY been broken?
My guess is that they’re from the Wii version, which used the same as the previous version.
correct. nobody has decrypted the audio and seeing how the game has been out for 3 years now, it looks like there is no interest, so I use Wii audio that I resample and enhance for the best audio quality possible.
Ooh, nice. Have heard the White Lies track before – it was on the soundtrack to Forza Horizon. That and Neil Young are probably the two I’m most interested in this week.
Im so happy for the beatle’s Song, Thank You so much (OrangeHarrison) and “Like a Stone” (Trojannemo) 😀
Audioslave! Awesome stuff. And I’m now actually listening to the rest of that White Lies album (never heard before) – quite good on first listen! Thanks for all!
Ooh, White Lies! Nice. I was introduced to them thanks to the Forza Horizon soundtrack and you just so happened to pick the one song they had in that game, rad. Can’t wait to sing along to that one!
ohhhh yaea thx guys audioslave and more beatles
“Are the ’80s officially classic rock now?”
My classic rock station plays Nirvana.
Nirvana is consider Grunge.
Man, maybe I just don’t understand how this works at all (very probable, since I don’t), but how the hell did anyone get their hands on a Beatles song with multitrack audio that wasn’t actually in the game?
Also, Rain has been on my request list pertaining to Beatles songs for ages, it’s basically Ringo at his best. She Said She Said is another one, as it has the same drumming style. Other than that Tomorrow Never Knows, Hey Jude, and It’s All too Much are very high up on my list of songs I wanted from TBRB at some point…
You guys already took care of Let it Be and Help! for me, and that’s fantastic. So basically…keep up the good work!
We didn’t get our hands on multitrack audio, we CREATED it. OrangeHarrison is a brilliant audio engineer who happens to love The Beatles, so we can release awesome Beatles songs in multitrack glory.
So without sounding ungrateful or anything, do you think any of the other customs that are just normal audio will get this treatment as well? Since drums are my main instrument, being able to do the freestyles without the backing audio is awesome, although not a deal breaker (I can’t really deny wanting to play the fuck out of Led Zeppelin, or Let it Be just because the drums don’t cut out during freestyles).
Of course, I can only imagine this is a very arduous and time consuming task, or I imagine it would be implemented more often to customs outside of imports, so I don’t expect this to be the normal or anything.
I guess another question I have is that if this is always possible to do? Like are there some tracks where creating a multitrack out of it is pretty much impossible, or close enough to it to not even bother?
If authoring a custom takes more or less a couple of days, getting separated audio stems takes from 2 days to 2 weeks per song. And it takes tools and knowledge, so basically you may see more multitracks if OrangeHarrison wants to do that for his songs, but don’t expect many, if any, and not from other authors. We’ve gotten our hands on a few other multitracks though, so you can expect a selected (very) few customs in the future to have multitrack audio.
Oh god. White lies!!! I never thought I’d see them in rock band. Thank you!!!
Is there any chance we could get some more? They have so many songs that would fit really well into the RB format and play really well to boot.
Any chances we get “Be Yourself” later? Dampiz charted it too.
not from me…I’m a very weird person when it comes to music, I love the two I did, never heard the other one, so chances of me doing it are very slim. hopefully someone else will.
Woohoo Rain is awesome!
You guys rock. I love this website, and everything your doing for us.
i would love for you guys to chart audioslaves “Doesn’t Remind Me” that solo would be so fun to play
