To anybody who watches gameplay videos or plans to do a play channel, be advised…
December 7, 2013 at 12:06 pm #410322I’m ok if this puts an end to 99% of the people who make money off youtube.
December 7, 2013 at 3:37 pm #410327I find all the rage hilarious. How dare a company impose its own rules on letting people reach a huge audience for free!
December 7, 2013 at 4:14 pm #410329I find all the rage hilarious. How dare a company impose its own rules on letting people reach a huge audience for free! And how dare people make money!
December 7, 2013 at 8:06 pm #410336So… coming 2014, uploaders will see a drop in the income they receive from uploading walkthroughs of video games, and this change will somehow discourage people from uploading content just for the sake of making moolah?
It’s just a wild guess, please refer to my signature.
December 7, 2013 at 8:58 pm #410338I can see how playthrough’s are killing sales of games. People watch a full level of a game and say to them selves, “I sure dont want to buy that game now”. I’m really surprised gamefaq is a free service because it sure puts out those company’s who make strategy guides for games.
December 7, 2013 at 9:16 pm #410342Speaking of that…I never played any of the Uncharted series but know exactly what happens in those games because I watched the entire “movies” on YouTube. I did that for a few games and might do for some more that I was interested in but didn’t want to buy a PS3 for.

While I don’t have numbers, it’s likely that the verified channels will be above this policy and can still upload without going through any procedures. One could say it’s “playing favorites” while others would say it’s a pass for those who have made it big already.
December 8, 2013 at 12:55 pm #410369The thing that sort of ticks me off about this has nothing to do with copyright and video game walk-throughs. It’s that this process could delay the upload of your video by a few hours to a few days. While they do give a detailed walk-through of how to manage that, what about channels that rely on in-the-moment content, such as news channels and vlogs? That is where I can see people getting pissed off the most.
I am also not really for or against people getting paid for their content on YouTube, so I have no opinions on that aspect.

I did that for a few games and might do for some more that I was interested in but didn’t want to buy a PS3 for.Honestly, the only PS3 that caught me’h interest was “Last of Us” and I watched someone else played it on his PS3 and even got the ending and all to it. So I’m about the same with ya with PS3 stuff.
December 8, 2013 at 3:51 pm #410375Last of Us is the only game I seriously considered buying a PS3 for. I should hurry to “watch the movie” before YouTube starts removing stuff.
December 8, 2013 at 4:22 pm #410377I’m ok if this puts an end to 99% of the people who make money off youtube.I honestly don’t understand that kind of attitude. There are some content makers on Youtube that put a lot of work into their videos, even in the gaming side of things. Putting an end to them making money off their videos could very well put an end to them making said videos because why would they put so much work into the video for literally nothing? There’s no way to spin that to be a good thing. As somebody who watches a lot of random gaming videos on Youtube, I don’t mind them getting paid. It makes sense and it costs you nothing. But I’m guessing making money for something you like doing is just blasphemy these days?

December 8, 2013 at 6:38 pm #410384I’m not sure you’re preaching to the right audience ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />Like Nyx said, preaching to the wrong audience.I don’t really see how, I’m just stating my thoughts on the opinion that people shouldn’t be allowed to make money off videos they create on Youtube. It’s done via ads which means it’s no cost to the person watching the video (minus maybe 30 extra seconds of their time). Considering the amount of work put into customs it wouldn’t bother me at all if something similar were done, but it’s a completely different model and I’m not even gonna pretend like I know how all of that works or could be done. All I was trying to point out is, it doesn’t hurt anybody for video creators on Youtube to get money through ads so “putting an end to 99% of the people who make money off Youtube” would simply cause a lot of content to go away for no reason or benefit.
