Ooo… cool pics, now we can spy a bit more on you rubydanger ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” /> Lots of clues…
– you also play Guitar Hero (shame!)
– you live in a fairly hot country/state
– you play MAME games
– you dabble a bit in DIY electronics
– you practice martial arts, songahm taekwondo?
– you drink whiskey
Did I get anything wrong? Hope you don’t mind, it’s just for fun ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
Cool idea by the way, the colored pads/cymbals markers!
June 9, 2020 at 9:08 pm #512020Overhits are often caused by cross-talk.
I don’t know about the Nitro, but the Forge has a cross-talk setting for each pad, make it as low as possible. When you play music you want cross-talk, but for rock band, you absolutely don’t want that to happen. Cross-talk is basically faint sounds from other pads to make sound more like a real kit, but in the case of rock band this sends MIDI data that you don’t want to be sent.
There is also the possibility of the frame of the kit not being solid enough (moving around) and that could cause some other pads to trigger when you hit one, that’s also a thing to look for.

looks like 3 TV’s so maybe a sports fan to watch multiple games at once ?
Nice setup though !!

Lol, Ok let’s see
1) Yes – I have been a guitar hero this entire time, I only just started playing Rock Band in February of this year.
2) California
3) Yes I love my MAME cabinet. Built it all myself – well the controller is a modified TankStick
4) More than dabble a bit!!
5) Daughter is a 3rd degree blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do
6) You missed that the whiskey bottle is sitting on my kegarator
This is my hard work man cave I have been building for the last 2 years. I will be cleaning it up here for a little get together next weekend, will take some pics.
Fuggnutz gave me some great advice for my ekit tuning. Turned out most of my issues were solved by adjusting the threshold settings. Finally got my first FC without losing my mulitplier today – granted on medium but I’ve only had the kit 2 weeks. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />

Awesome!!
June 21, 2020 at 10:10 pm #512255I have the alesis DM6. I had the double hit issue. Unless I missed it, there was no cross talk adjustment. I came across something in my search that lead me to loosen it up a bit. i.e. anything from the nuts holding down the cymbals to allowing some play in the cables. It seemed to help. Hope it makes sense.
June 22, 2020 at 12:07 am #512260Fug taught me about the threshold setting, and that seemed to fix my issues for the most part. I needed to raise my threshold settings – threshold determines how hard you need to hit it to register. Mine was so lo, the wind would register a hit (not literally)
June 22, 2020 at 12:28 pm #512270Sadly with my crew, its kind of hard to distinguish between sucky drumming and phantom hits – lol.
I just bought a Nitro “brain” unit to swap for my DM6 brain so I can bypass using a laptop to the midi controller. Nice to know that there may be some more options for tweaking…
I like those colored heads you printed. Are they fluorescent? I painted mine, but a bit sloppy and wish I could “do-over”
June 23, 2020 at 7:54 am #512293I managed to fix my own issue about missing snares too. It was as simple as reading the manual really, something I notoriously don’t ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” /> Even my 30e drumset has a setting for crosstalk cancellation, so I turned it down for the snare pad, and now all my snare hits register fine. Well except those when I actually make a playing mistake myself, obviously ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
June 24, 2020 at 1:51 am #512314is the midi pro adapter still in high in demand? i found a bunch
how are you guys liking your mesh drums?
i’m thinking about getting a mesh roland snare…thoughts?
been playing rubber for so long
June 26, 2020 at 4:36 pm #512344A quick follow up in case someone in need stumbles upon this…
My Alesis DM6 module did not have midi out, and I wanted to get away from using a laptop, so I found a Nitro module on Ebay. Turns out there is much to know about compatibility between the modules, the cabling, and the pads. So…lesson learned for me ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />
– I received the Alesis Surge Mesh over the weekend. As my drumming experience was only through Rock Band, I am surprised as to how much nicer the mesh pads are over the rubber pads. This is fun…
July 21, 2020 at 10:13 pm #512974you could probably find a used Yamaha dtxplorer kit for cheap. baffles the mind why anyone bought the ion drum set when you could get one of these cheap….
has all the midi notes for proper colours etc. this kit just isn’t programmable.
I’m new to all of this but you can use actual electronic drum kits to play RB3? (X360 for me) if so, how’s that possible? I owned an electronic drum kit a long time ago but I don’t remember it having a USB cable

You need a MIDI out, not USB, and you also need the MPA (MIDI Pro Adapter).

That is dope; I will have to look into that
August 1, 2020 at 7:51 am #513219Printed colored cymbal knobs and Tom cap covers
How much do I have to pay you for a set of those colored cymbal twist toppers, shipped to me in CO? That’s great…been wondering how I can color code my Strike set while playing Rock Band…wife has been playing and trying to learn drums a bit and it confuses the heck out of her having no colors on theme. I would actually want x2 blue ones though cause I have another smaller “blue” cymbal near by hi-hat for the annoying “open-hi-hat” strikes.
