Will Deleting and Restoring My Song Cache Remove Harmony Upgrades?

    As Title.

Just cleaned up y song library, but Setlist Manager is still picking up some “empty” songs. It’s a pretty petty thing but I just find it easier to track any actual missing songs when the setlist manager and the game are synced.

I’m pretty sure deleting and rebuilding the song cache will fix this, but I am worried it will also remove the RBHP upgrades I have just added.

All of my songs plus RBHP data is on my 360 Harddrive.

I’m not ballsy enough to try it haha, don’t fancy messing about with the harmony upgrades again.

If anyone could weigh in it would be much appreciated.

I believe it will remove all of the upgrades that were given to your songs via the “dummy file” method. If you plan on frequently deleting the cache, you can use the upgrade bundler and bundle your songs that way. That method essentially bakes them into the con file, so you won’t have to use the RBHP method that way.

Ahh yeh I haven’t looked into upgrade bundling, thanks.

I don’t necessarily plan on deleting my song cache haha, just use it to fix certain issues that arise.

I will look into that thanks – I have all of RB1, RB2 and LRB exported – as well as numerous RB1/2 era DLC tracks that require upgrades.

Will all of those songs be upgradeable in this manner? I think that RB1 at least has it’s songlist in an entire file. I’m assuming one must move the DLC tracks (CON Files) onto a USB, onto a PC and then that’s where you “bake” harmony upgrades. But how would it work if the disc export is one huge file? Sorry if it’s a silly question. Thanks for your help man <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />

No problem, this is the right place to ask questions. If you really want to bundle the songs by hand, be warned that if you have a couple hundred songs that are able to be upgraded, it is going to take a few hours. I only did it because I had trouble getting the RBHP to work and I was frequently deleting my cache to try and fix other issues at the time. You’ll need to use the “Quick Pack Editor” in C3ConTools and then drag the export file into it. Then just click “de-pack” and it will separate the pack into individual con files. Then just download the RBHP master pack from the spread sheet, open the upgrade bundler, and then drag the Con into the left window and the midi + songs.dta files into the right window and click “bundle.” Make sure that if you want the key upgrades for the few songs that have it that you use that midi and songs.dta instead.

Ahh so they count as a pack.

Yeh I have time and patience, and about a couple hundred that need it. Fortunately all my upgrades are already organised into my RBHP folder (the “input” one). Also, I have a pretty functional multiscreen desktop (not bragging) and can usually establish a pretty good workflow, it’s made the more menial, tedious and repetitive tasks involving customs a doddle.

I think for me the time investment will be worth it too, because I plan on getting some more really old DLC (I have a wishlist of sorts) and it would be easier to buy some songs here and there and then add each upgrade individually, rather than doing the whole dummy method just for a couple of songs.

Anyway thanks man, I’ll check that out sometime this week <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

Keep in mind adding upgrades like that will break the songs for TU5 play

Yeh I figured as much, that’s fine for me but thanks for the heads up ;d

Ok so I’m gonna give it a go tonight, I was going to start with the Lego Rockband Songs but I can’t find the export pack file for Lego Rockband – Yes I have all of the songs exported, I play them all the time. I will start on my RB1 & RB2 in the meantime, if anyone could shed any light on the LEGO Export’s file name or whereabouts then I’d be grateful <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />

EDIT: NVM Found it “LRB Export Pack” (I ALWAYS do this!)

          #472526

Last question hopefully, is it necessary to re-pack the songs into the LRB Export pack and if so how do I do that? Thanks again I will make cookies for everyone.

Also is the upgrades.dta used at all for this process?

          #472539

I will refer you to http://customscreators.com/index.php?/topic/14039-upgrade-for-both-pro-guitar-and-keys-how/

Not precisely your question, but hopefully that gives you plenty of information.

In this method, all RBHP files for each applicable song are used.

          #472544

I read that post and found out that songs must go in the RB3 folder on the 360 harddrive, so I decided to test with all lego export bundled upgrades that I’d done, and only some worked. Can anyone tell me what happened there? Did I botch some upgrades? Basically I copied all the new bundled files onto the USB, but when I browsed the USB from the Xbox only 17 of the 45-song LEGO export showed. I copied them to the harddrive anyway, and found that in the game they all functioned but again I only had 17 songs listed from LEGO Rockband.

Thank you guys so much for you help with this – if I get many more problems with it I might just default back to using the dummy method, and instead simply bundle any new old (pre-RB3 era) DLC I end up buying. Also I noticed that using bundled CONs in place of the export packs can slightly increase the load time of all the songs.

EDIT: some more info, they work in the visualiser and I’ve tried re-copying them but still no cigar. I will try re-bundling some and see if it helps.

EDIT: Rebundling didn’t work – the songs in question are from the LEGO Export (nvm I can’t add images??)

Some are even just plain extracted (they didn’t have upgrade files i.e. no harmony in the song) and they still weren’t visible from the xbox file browser. Properly stumped.

Installing Rock Band to your hard drive will fix that increased loading time. And are you deleting your cache when you bundle songs? The game needs to create a new cache so it knows that the songs have new parts added to them. If this isn’t the issue then I’ll walk you through it tonight when I’m home.

            #472574

Ah right I just deleted my installation because I was running out of space – it’s no biggie I think I’d probably rather have the space (I’ve only got an old 360 with like a 60gb harddrive).

Yeh it rebuilt the cache, but only 17 songs of the LEGO Rockband pack showed – they all had their functioning harmony parts however. Like I could understand if none showed, or all showed and they were broken or something – but seriously, only 17? there doesn’t appear to be anything significant or different about them – at this point I’d be happy to realise it is something simple being overlooked and I’m just being stupid <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />

            To outline what I did:

            – Moved the LEGO export file from the 360 to the PC

            – Unpacked the export file into a folder on the desktop

            – Opened up a windows explorer window for the RBHP upgrades and the unpacked CONs, and opened the upgrade bundler

            – Proceeded to upgrade every CON (drag CON to the left, upgrade files [song.dta + song_plus.mid] to the right – new “song (bundled)” file created – finish clean up – click reset – rinse & repeat)

            – Moved the new “song (bundled)” CONs into a new folder

copied them onto the USB into the RB3 folder (not the RB1 folder, where the export file is usually found), I read in the post Whizzer linked that this was acceptable – even if so, it wouldn’t explain why some actually worked.

At this point bear in mind all 45 CONs were visible, and listed, in windows explorer (e.g. All American Rejects – Swing Swing (bundled))

They also all open in the CON editor/visualiser etc.

            – Plugged the USB into the Xbox

            – Browsed the USB on the Xbox, and noticed only 17 of the 45 CONs I had JUST added were visible (in the Xbox File Explorer)

            – Copied onto the harddrive anyway, just to find that indeed only 17 showed in RB3 – but they all had functioning harmonies

            Some Notes:

Some songs unpacked didn’t even need upgrades, yet they won’t show (e.g Vampire Weekend – A-Punk)

There was no ID issues/conflicts/other problems highlighted by the upgrade bundler when bundling.

I rebundled some of the problem files – no cigar.

Possibly a faulty USB, haven’t tested yet, I will try with a new one later today. Although I’d assume it would simply cease to function instead of discriminating against random songs. Mind you, at this point I’m ready to try/believe anything <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />

Thanks again for helping me with this bizarre issue man, sorry it’s been a right chew on :’)

EDIT: Found this whereby someone was having issues with customs not appearing – for me customs work fine (ironically) and it’s official DLC that’s not appearing but I will try and glean a solution from it.

In C3ConTools when you open one of the bundled song files, is it marked as a Con file or a Live file?
