Hi all,
we finally managed to make our eDrums work with the PS3 and now we’ve started playing Pro Drums on all our favorite customs
We’re no real drummers though, and our first task is to learn how to best setup the positions of all the elements. Naturally I’ve already watched many YT tutorials on how to setup both acoustic and electronic drums to get an idea, but I would like to hear from YOU what is your preferred setup specifically for the game.
For instance, the most common placement for the cymbals is crash on the left and ride on the right. But we all know that in RB crash green gems appear on the right, and ride gems appear on the center-right. Do you switch them in order to follow the gems visually without getting confused? We tried switching the cables and everything was immediately easier, but still when I see blue gems my instinct is to reach to the center-right as with the basic RB drums, so I am wondering if I should also physically move the ride to the right (but left from the crash). However, doing so would seriously jeopardize hitting those open hi-hats on blue…
Or do you just forget about reading gems in real time, learn the notes by memory, and play your eDrums with a more standard setup? ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
Feel free to mention all your preferences for the other elements as well! The cymbals issue was the most obvious for us, but we’re also still experimenting with everything’s position, height and angle…
January 17, 2020 at 11:41 am #509265I have 2 crashes in the middle and ride on the right. Takes few songs to get used to have it reversed than on screen but it’s not a big problem.
Classic snare between legs, hihat on the left with your personal height. On the right side of hh pedal i have 2nd bass pedal (had lots of adjusting position so it doesnt mess up my hh posiion)
Toms you have to adjust to your personal preferences. Some like them flat, some at an angle. I have bit angled. 1st tom above snare, 2nd more-less above bass pedal, 3rd tom flat on the right, and bit above and behind it i have my ride.

Almost the same but the snare aren’t between legs. it is a bit at the left of the left leg

Snare on the left side of legs ?

Yeah not a lot because it is sttill above it since I don’T use Real drums charts for Phase shift so I don’T hurt myself while playing ahah. IF you check out my thread with my FC adventure, you’ll see that I’m familiarised with that ahah and it is at this same forum section ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
January 17, 2020 at 2:31 pm #509270My personal setup:
Pads:
– Snare between the legs proper
– Yellow Tom is directly above (and slightly to the left) of the snare. This lets you hit the Yt easily with your left hand when necessary, and allows hitting patterns like RYBK correctly.
– Green Tom is setup as a floor tom proper (aprox. the same height as the snare off on the right)
– Blue Tom in between Yellow and Green where you’d expect
Cymbals:
1) Hi-hat “Yellow” on the left
2) Small “Blue” cymbal right next to the hi-hat (for open-hat accents basically)
3) Green “Crash” on left above the two hats
4) Ride “Blue” on the right
5) Green “Crash” on the right by the Ride
6) “Yellow” extra on the right side towards the ride
– I basically have three ‘Y’ 2-to-1 adapters in place for each cymbal, so that I can use two cymbals for each color. I have a plan in the future to add a third yellow crash on the left for YG Double Crashes (currently, I just hit the hi-hat).
– The Yellow hat that I have off towards the right is due charting a bunch of Rush songs where Peart alternates between a closed, extra hi-hat on the right side of his kit, and a ride cymbals. In game, it’s basically alternating B and Y cymbals gems. For the same reason I put a Blue on the left by my hat… it’s so I don’t have to go all the way across my kit when doing open hat accents or this alternating pattern. Technically I could just do this pattern over on the hats… but I had the extra cymbal from an old kit and like the realism to play the same way I would on a true kit.
January 17, 2020 at 6:21 pm #509277At it’s most expansive, mine was configured like this…
From left to right.
The first three cymbals (two piezo pizza pans, CY-, rubber pads (PD- and snare/alt-snare (PD-85/BT-1) are the ‘electronic’ portion of the kit. These triggers, along with the chick pedal (FD- below them and the kick (KD- on the right, control a relatively ancient TD-6V brain.
Next up, the main kit drives a TD-20X and TD-30 and is comprised of a hi-hat (VH-12), crash (CY-13R), china (CY-13R), and gong (CY-.
At the centre are the double-kick (KD-140), snare (PD-125XS), and above that the familiar RB layout for the toms (PD-105 x 2, PD-125 x 2).
Above that, the cymbals are ride (CY-12R/C), bell (CY-5), hi-hat (VH-13), open hat (CY-, ride (CY-15R), crash (CY-13R), tambourine (CY-5), crash (CY-14C), and splash (CY-5).
The last three are percussion, cowbell (PD-, bongo (PDX-, and block (BT-1).

You, sir, are the Neil Peart of Rockband drumming…
January 18, 2020 at 12:12 am #509286I thought I was overkill with four toms and five cymbals… I know better now ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

isn’t that a bit overkill?

this is pretty much my setup too
February 4, 2020 at 7:50 pm #509536isn’t that a bit overkill?
And you call yourself “hardcoredrummer”?
March 21, 2020 at 8:14 pm #510359Not as crazy as Dash’s but this is my new setup.
March 22, 2020 at 9:35 am #510372Awesome! Did you guys also setup something for triggering blue notes with the open hihat?
