August 1, 2013 at 11:44 pm #403829Again, too busy to contribute, but can I put in a vote for Jerry Springer? Ever since we got One Week with Blitz I’ve wanted the Yankovic version in the game. Wouldn’t be too hard to convert from One Week I’d imagine.
I was thinking about it. Just like the other songs I’ve converted, all you need to do is re do the tempo map, find notes that don’t match and chart vocals.
August 2, 2013 at 3:55 pm #403885Ok so I’ve made a list for a potential “Weird Al” Yankovic pack
– Eat It (drummerockband)
– Albuquerque (vocals: pksage, drums: drummerockband, guitar/bass: ?)
– Polka Power! (pksage)
– Dare to Be Stupid (?)
– White and Nerdy (drummerockband)
– Another One Rides the Bus (drummerockband)
– Gump (drummerockband)
– Hardware Store (OrangeHarrison?)
FtV releases
– I’ll Sue Ya (drummerockband)
– Amish Paradise (TrojanNemo?)
August 2, 2013 at 5:22 pm #403893We absolutely need The Saga Begins; nerds eat that shit up. I’ll convert it myself from American Pie if I have to. Also, Nemo is trying to get out of the charting biz, so someone else may want to volunteer to FtV his song.
August 2, 2013 at 6:57 pm #403909As I’ve said, I have a guitar chart already made for Albuquerque, so if you could sign me up for guitar/bass. Unless someone else wants the glory, of course

August 9, 2013 at 1:09 am #404304Did we want to schedule this for October 18, or just let it hang out until whenever and release it when we’ve got enough songs?
August 9, 2013 at 1:28 am #404305I’m not quite sure yet. What do you think?
August 17, 2013 at 3:22 am #404693I’m down for this. I’m already charting Trigger Happy when PKsage brought to my attention this project, so I guess I’ll throw that song in. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
As much as future-me will hate past-me for doing this, I volunteer for vocals on Albuquerque. Assuming we’re doing it as a collab, anyway. If you need any help, I can chart the harmony parts for you. I already have every single (non spoken) vocal part of that song sketched because it’s been on my dream list for over a year.
I’m not sure what we want to do with Albuquerque yet, so we’ll see. I think espher is going to do a FtV of Hardware Store so we probably won’t need that chart. Thanks though.I likely will not be FtVing it as Orange Harrison’s port is pretty far along (farther than mine is now anyway), but he should hopefully have it r2o for this timeline.
OH — thoughts?
Last I heard we kind of had an impasse about which of the 5+ vocal parts should be charted at a time. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” /> My vocal part is completely polished and done though, but it still runs on your guitar and (really cool looking) venue chart, so I would only ever consider releasing it as a collab.

You’ve got the all-clear to do it, honestly. iirc as I mentioned in the PMs I can always make an “alternate” harmony chart to suit my own desire for more variation on the HARMs part, which would run off yours just as well. Might even be able to do it RB:HP upgrade style!
August 17, 2013 at 4:52 am #404702Oh ok, in that case, I’ll get the rest of it all finished and C3-standard in time for the pack.
But I still insist you get joint credit because I’d never have gotten around to it If you didn’t already have a base out. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_emot-3.gif” />
Also if it’s “All three singers singing different parts” you want, Trigger Happy has a good deal of that.

August 17, 2013 at 12:42 pm #404718Glad to have you on board, OrangeHarrison! As far as my progress goes, “Another One Rides the Bus” just needs to finish vocals.
August 19, 2013 at 5:26 am #404775So since multiple are authoring songs by the same artist, there’s probably going to be a few songs that are from the same album. To make sure the album art is consistent, I’ve gone ahead and made art for all Al’s full studio discography, and we can all draw from this pool so that we don’t get that infuriating “slightly different album art when scrolling through songs” effect.
Besides the consistency factor, these covers are more or less Harmonix quality (black level corrected, no publisher labels, etc.) and have been resized manually (this actually makes a huge difference when converting to the xbox format). Just drop the bmp into your magma project.

=============
On the subject of consistency, me and TN were discussing earlier what exactly should go in the artist field for Weird Al songs. I’ve seen a couple different ways to go about it, so we should agree on a standard so the songs don’t appear all over the place. TrojanNemo and I agreed that his name should be written exactly as “Weird Al” Yankovic, quotation marks included, as that’s the proper punctuation of his name, and the HMX standard seems to have shifted to using exact punctuation by the time RB3 came out (compare “HIM pack 01” to “Killing Loneliness” by H.I.M.)
August 19, 2013 at 1:34 pm #404782Agreed on the precise syntax of the name, I wouldn’t have accepted anything else.
OH, when you say you have the Albuquerque vocals “sketched”, what exactly does that mean? Any MIDI notes laid down at all? If so, you’ve got way more of a foundation than I do.
September 8, 2013 at 1:43 pm #405814Back to pksage’s original question which was “Do we want to schedule this pack for October 18th?” Since that’s the closest to Al’s birthday. I would say I’m fine with that. I had a lot of time yesterday to get some things done. I started vocals on “Eat It” yesterday and I’m more than halfway done. After that I just need to fix the guitar solo and then I might as well throw a link in this thread to see if its good enough for playtesting. After I’m done “Eat It”, I should finish “Another One Rides the Bus” which shouldn’t take too long to finish. And then if its alright with every one I could probably fix up “I’ll Sue Ya” for a FtV release. How’s everyone else coming along?
