Hi! So I got a vocal chart of a song I’m authoring and I guess when it was originally charted, it used notes above C5 and there isn’t anywhere to add it. It’s only present in one phrase. Would it adversely affect the chart if I were to bring down all the notes an octave to make room for the higher pitched note?

Yeah. That’s what everyone does. Pretty sure Bohemian Rhapsody and most Amberian Dawn songs had that treatment. I suggest you take the whole song down one octave for it to fit, or else everything would be inconsistent.

I’m not sure why Harmonix set the chartable vocal range the way they did. Honestly, plenty of male singers can hit higher than a C5, and just about every woman can quite easily. On the other hand, the low end of the chartable scale is inhumanly low. If you have to shift your whole chart by an octave, or even two, don’t sweat it.
