In this dark day where legendary rock drummer Neil Peart has passed away (RIP to the legend), Im going to do my top 5 favorite drummers & you can also weigh in on yours as well!

My list will always be this. There are some fantastic drummers out there & I could go on & on gushing about my favorite drummers or even drum solos.
1. Ringo Starr – The Beatles
2. Tre Cool – Green Day
3. Roger Taylor – Queen
4. Neil Pearl – Rush
5. Graham Sierota – Echosmith
Just kinda pulled em from my favorite Bands I could think of.

I’d also like to give a shout out to Jason McGerr of Death Cab for Cutie and Travis Barker of blink-182. I only recently really got into both bands and having seen them live I’ve quickly grown quite an appreciation for them. Both are very talented.
I could make this list a lot longer as I can name many drummers I really like but I think between how they play, their technical ability, and just how much I like what they do leads to the top five here.
No particular order, but my favourite drummer is Stewart Copeland (The Police)
the other 4 I would add to my top 5 though
Jeff Porcaro (Toto)
Travis Barker (Blink 182 among many others, his best work imo is the drums on the first Aquabats album)
Keith Moon (The Who)
Chris Thatcher (Streetlight Manifesto)That said as a Drummer I have always had an extreme fascination with Niel Peart, it is a shame he has passed on. If it were a top 10, he would be in my list.

Funny how for an instrument I play a lot I haven’t really thought about my favorite maestros that much. Let’s see…
In no particular order:
John Bonham (Led Zeppelin). Even when he’s not belting out some solo no one can duplicate, his drums are fun to listen to. One of my favorite performances by him is on “D’yer Mak’er”. It’s such a simple drum pattern as Led Zeppelin songs go, but it still demands attention and steering wheel abuse. “Fool in the Rain” is also a joy to listen to, even if it’s significantly harder to play along with!
Phil Collins (Genesis and solo). He doesn’t really show a lot of technical prowess on the kit (at least not once Peter Gabriel left the group), but he is a wiz with electronic percussion, having created a whole new sonic palette for every song graced with his production, which includes a whole lot more than just Genesis and solo tunes. Howard Jones’s “No One Is to Blame”, Frida’s “I Know There’s Something Going On” and Philip Bailey’s “Easy Lover” are just some of the other tunes that have unique drums that still have that signature Collins touch. And none of that even gets to how he can sing and lead the band, too!
Ringo Starr (the Beatles). For absolutely no other reason than he’s Ringo freakin’ Starr. He sits behind the kit, does his job, makes it all work, and in the end is a legend for being in the right place at the right time and not letting it go to his head.
Gary Wallis (session and touring drummer for Pink Floyd et al). If only for this performance.
Charlie Adams (touring drummer for Yanni). If only for this performance. Really, say what you will about Yanni and his music, but the entire Acropolis concert is amazing, and Adams is a big reason why.
Honorable mentions go to this guy and this guy, and a moment of silent respect goes to Mr. Peart. Rest in Peace, good sir.
No special order, and my list is definitely not set in stone…
Stewart Copeland (The Police): clean sound, creative patterns, intricate hihats. Suggested custom “Murder by numbers”.
Brian Downey (Thin Lizzy): funky and metal at the same time, my favourite in all ‘hard’ bands. Suggested custom “Bad reputation”.
Rob Hirst (Midnight Oil): very intelligent use of different drums sets sounds, different style in every album. Suggested custom “The dead heart” (probably “Power and the passion” DLC is more interesting, unfortunately there are only 2 customs and both songs don’t have particularly interesting drums).
Ringo Starr (The Beatles): very clever and original in his simplicity. Suggested custom “It’s all too much”, but actually the real recommendation is to get the whole TBRB game (you can find it for less than 10 bucks nowadays), my favourites there are “The End” and “Ticket to Ride”.
Bill Bruford (Yes, King Crimson): for me the most balanced in the ‘prog’ area. Suggested custom “Long distance runaround / The fish”.

about time someone listed bonham ..no offense to peart bonham death changed music
trade your number 4 for vinnie paul same.
Never see Andy Parker from UFO on any list but highly under rated drummer.
+1 for Stewart Copeland, Buddy Rich, The Rev, Mike Portney and John Dolmayan(SOAD).
And of course the god himself my he finally have some peace.

Brann Dailor is severely underrated in my opinion.
