One that just caught my ear was a cover of Steppenwolf – Born to be Wild done by ACDC. I have had the file a long time but thought it was just labeled wrong. They do a good job on it

 

Hm. Didn’t know AC/DC covered that song. Might have to listen to it.

My friend’s stepmom is this quiet, stern-looking woman about your age. She looks like one of those generic by-the-books librarian (pardon the pun), so needless to say it was very surprising walking in one day to her reading a book listening to Godsmack. My mom always comments on how it’s neat that young people like me enjoy classic rock and I guess I feel the same way when I see the more seasoned listening to modern heavy stuff.

 

Disturbed – The Sound of Silence

 

I’m not sure how I feel about this cover. I like it but it’s just…weird. It sounds way too much like a typical disturbed song which is nothing what Simon & Garfunkel sound like.

 

I started listening to Jane’s Addiction’s Strays album again after taking a hiatus from listening to it too much while playing World of Tanks. Man, that album is so good.

For the past month I have been listening to The Birthday Massacre. I highly recommend them if you like the sound of bands like Nightwish. Today however I have found a new genre, electro swing. So I managed to discover Eric Prydz’s “Call on Me” which I heard many times throughout the mid-2000s and learned the whole song is a sample from “Valerie” by Steve Winwood. I’m really liking both songs and would at least like to see the Steve Winwood version here on C3. If I wasn’t so busy with other works I’d chart it myself.

Crazy to see someone posting about Goodnight Nurse here! Such a great bunch of Kiwi’s. I have been listening to a lot of Paul Dempsey lately, in anticipation of him finally releasing his second solo album next month.

I’ve been listening to “Gord’s Gold” by Gordon Lightfoot. My dad would play his records all the time when I was a kid, so I sort of got sick of it after a while. Thank Nunchuck and Sygenysis for getting me back into him. I hope they release more songs of his someday.
