Behold! Super wordy hints for all but one song from this week because I haven’t been able to think of anything good but I will totally edit it in when I do!
- A rock-y track highlighting the joys of Schaudenfreude, we can only hope that bitter blog commentor Fred will recognize it.
- Though this song would attempt to pump up the “dangers” of drug use and came along when the counter-culture was in full force, it would nevertheless be the first Top 5 single for the pop rock act that spawned it.
- Featuring a tale of an undercover cop falling for a lounge songstress while on the job, the fact that this track differed from the band’s normal style caused it to be frequently misattributed on Napster NOT THAT I WOULD KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE OR ANYTHING.
- A cover of this song questioning the listener’s faith in the mystical/occult power of music was once used in a “hall of doors” chase sequence on — of all places — the Super Mario Bros. Super Show.
- Perhaps owing to the fact that it did not feature the titular instrument, this psychedelic track would be this artist’s last big single — though some of the session musicians behind this recording went on to be a pretty big deal in their own right.
- Any King of England might approve of this song — well, except for Henry the 8th.
- The strength of this psychedelic rock track carried it to the top of charts around the planet when it was released; it was no shock that a cover version released nearly twenty years later would be an even bigger hit, outperforming the original by a razor-thin margin (hitting number one in one more country).
- This vintage rock song, with initials matching the band’s own, subsequently would feature on a show with those initials. (Hint: It’s not Initial D.)
- This 60’s folk/rock act started off strong with a run of six top ten singles, but would see their only #1 come from this track — perhaps helped along by the fact that it was released during the titular season.
- A brief sidestep from this 60’s rock band’s long run of rock hits, this psychedelic pop track didn’t need much luck to make it to #1, becoming this band’s best-selling single.
These may be too specific or too obscure, but this week is one of my favourites even though it falls outside my staple authoring genres. Use that information as you will. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>

Thanks for the hints and as always I am stumped and don’t really have any guesses on these.

Yeah. Also, maybe “Summer in the city”, as well (their only #1).
Sounds awesome to me.

OH MY GOD. I THINK I JUST REALIZED WHAT THIS SONG IS.
If I’m right, I will be playing it over and over. What a beautiful feeling that will be.

February 20, 2014 at 3:37 am #414457Hurdy Gurdy Man! Awesome. Fingers crossed that it will be followed/accompanied by “Mellow Yellow” at some point.
February 20, 2014 at 5:16 pm #414474Oh boy, I LOVE ’60s rock! Looking forward to this one.
Also, I really hope questionmark is right and we get a bunch of Donovan.

“Summer in the City” wasn’t in the Mario Bros. Super Show, so unfortunately it probably isn’t that one.

I know. I was referring to another clue, which seems to suggest a second Lovin’ Spoonful song.
Edit: this one:

But I could be wrong…

There are 5 hinted songs that I’m pretty certain of and a couple that I’m relatively confident of, and any one of them would make for an exciting week for me. It seems like the kind of classic rock songs that will translate REALLY well to the game.
This is actually shaping up to be one of my favorite release weeks ever, customs or HMX. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
