Are the charting conventions in this game similar to RB/GH? I’m curious as to whether it would be worth the effort to convert these, or if the game is different enough that you’d basically be starting from scratch. There’s a MuteMath song on there that I’d really like to have in RB. Plus they inexplicably got Eric Clapton tracks.

Power Gig also uses midi files and are similar enough to RB3. Vocals require the most work but drums and guitar are pretty straight forward. Their multitrack stems are encrypted though.

I already have the midi files extracted so if anyone wants to take a shot, here they are for grabs. But please post a reply if you intend to release through C3.

Is there Beer by Reel Big Fish in that file? I’m not at my computer so I can’t check, but Wikipedia says its DLC, and I would convert it and fix it up in a heartbeat.

Nope. Just the 70 on-disc songs. If I could get my hands on the raw DLC file then I could easily get that to you.

I hope it’s floating around on the Internet somewhere. I’ve wanted to chart that song for an extremely long time, but there’s a lot of problems I run into when I attempt to chart it.

Sorry to bring up such an old thread but did anyone download the midi files that PikminGuts posted and give any of these conversions a try? I stumbled upon this thread, then looked at the setlist for this game and saw a few songs I would love to play in Rock Band. If anyone was successful, would you be able to post any sort of guide or at least a few tips/clues/hints on what all is involved in converting these MIDI’s to playable RB3 songs? If nobody had any success/gave it a try I may just see what the MIDIs look like opening for the first time in Reaper. Thanks in advance!

PS. I have a custom of You’re Going Down by Sick Puppies. I wonder if whoever made that used any of the charts from this game as I noticed it’s in this setlist.

Maybe we can press-gang someone into learning everything there is to know about Power Gig, then making them figure out how to adjust audio levels so we can record the master tracks. :clint:

The latest EOF 1.8 betas can import Power Gig MIDIs (except for the 2 string “real” guitar tracks, which aren’t worth the effort), if you don’t mind the MIDIs having been converted to real timing and back, it should be pretty straightforward to port them to Rock Band. Bluzer had started a project to port them to FoFiX/Phase Shift, but I’m not sure where he’s at with it.

The only problem I can see rising (no pun intended) is that there are no bass charts in the game, meaning that those are going to have to be manually separated from the backing tracks, though with the early Guitar Hero conversions I’ve seen this shouldn’t be a big issue unless the backing track is really active like in “Layla” by Derek and the Dominoes.

              Funny you should say that…

Anyways, the idea I think is to grab the charts, no? Filtering the bass chart is easy if it’s not mixed in the same stem with drums, then you run the problem of getting the drum kicks in the same stem and blowing out someone’s speaker when they use overdrive (or so i’ve been told).

The reason I used Layla as an example was because it’s a song I know’s in the game and has a major keys part. Also I was listening to it at the time. But hey, if this is a hint of an upcoming C3 releases, I hope it’s right.

Didn’t know that about the bass. I don’t think they’re on the same stem though, since the game did have separated drum charts. If there’s a good way to extract all the stems though, it might put this crap game to use. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
