September 12, 2014 at 5:06 am #429046My update will also include more Yes and some other surprises.Looking forward to it. I just finished “Tempus Fungit” and it was all fuckered up for the tempo map. Thinks I got it though. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
September 12, 2014 at 2:40 pm #429067For those of you that downloaded “12 Step Suite” 1X or 2X give this V2 a shot. I got an updated tempo map from Bsbloom and then I added my updated drum chart to the project. Looked at it in Reaper at various sections from beginning to end and then tested in game for about 10 minutes and it sure looks synced up to me.ConV2:

What to be expected this weekend? The rest of the previously charted King Crimson and Yes songs found in the drum project sections at frets on fire. I know its a overdose from these bands lately but I feel obligated to finish all their material that is available. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
Tried this version (the 1x pedal version) on expert guitar; it goes out of sync the same time as the last one, during that “chunky chord part” when it changes (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bK0BSg75uEM#t=492)
The audio also still leads the notes by about .25 seconds or so after the 1 or 2 minutes of intro. But it’s getting better with each version, I do appreciate all this work you guys are doing!
September 13, 2014 at 12:10 am #429101Thanks for the feedback Iammax. I already received yet another revised tempo map so I’m hoping this next version will be the final. I’ll have it up this weekend with some new songs.

There will never be enough KC and Yes in rock band dude
September 14, 2014 at 7:58 pm #429198This update consists of the remaining King Crimson and Yes songs I could round up on the Frets on Fire forums. Mostly the bands 80’s and 90’s material.
Lizard was one of the earliest prog songs in which a whole side of a record was used for one song. Two known songs came before it, which were “In Held Twas In I” and “Ars Longa Vita Brevis”. The first part guest vocals Jon Anderson of Yes. Charted by Narutostarwars123456 and converted to RB3 by me. I made some minor changes not shown in the preview video. Thinking about adding some flam hits not depicted in the chart in the future but as for now this is pretty much untouched by me.

The songs from Beat focus mainly on the Beat Generation of poetic art. This song specifically refers to a Beat poetry magazine. Charted by narutostarwars123456 and converted by me. Probably the most difficult King Crimson song on drums IMO.

Using studio techinques, Adrian Belew’s voice was severely deepened to give the sound of a blues singer, in a humorous manner. Charted by narutostarwars123456 and converted by me. The song also features guitar and bass charting not shown in the video preview.

After the commercial and critical flop of “Tormato”, the lead singer and keyboardist of Yes quit the band. Does anybody remember “Video Killed the Radio Star” by The Buggles? Well after the success of that song, Yes decided to get the lead singer and keyboardist on board for their next album “Drama”. This album would be the one and only lineup featuring members of The Buggles. The results is a new wave sound and the start of the 80’s incarnation of Yes. “Does It Really Happen?” is charted by narutostarwars123456 and converted by me.

After working with Tempus Fugit, this has to be one of my favorite songs by Yes. Its just incredible catchy and fun to play. My pick for the week. Charted by Italianstal1ion and converted by me.

“Our Song” comes from Yes’s most commercially successful album 90125. This album features “Owner of a Lonely Heart”. This also marks the return of original Yes singer Jon Anderson. Charted by Italianstal1ion and converted by me.

Like several of the songs that was the debacle of Union, Lift Me Up was directly recorded from Rabin’s demo. So most likely, he is the only musician on this song, yet it’s a “Yes” song. Currently, its the band’s last highest-charting single. This is also a reunion album with the original early 70’s lineup of the band. Charted by Narutostarwars123456 and converted by me.

Me and Bsbloom are confident that this is the most synced version of the song yet. Should be noted that for the 1X version I did some cleanup on snare rolls and drum fills that were oddly spaced on previous versions. Enjoy!

For my next update I plan on doing a punk rock centric pack of songs. Later gators!
September 15, 2014 at 6:31 pm #429241Played the newest version (1x bass pedal version, I played expert guitar), I think you guys have got it this time. No apparent problems. Amazing work guys, I’m sure that was a lot of stuff to do!
Incidentally I wonder if anyone can beat my X guitar score. 2,382,572. 95%. 1,272 streak.
The only issue I would point out right now is that I really don’t think the chorus of The Root of All Evil should have strumming lanes on those “fast” bits, but that’s just my opinion… it’s not very fast and it’s at a regular tempo. But I know I’m just being difficult now

Those strumming lanes are very easy to remove but I”m pretty sure they were intentionally put in by the author so I just let them be. Very glad to hear the sync is ok now. I’m still very happy that 2 instruments were able to be put into one custom being that the song is almost an hour long. Truly epic!
September 16, 2014 at 12:30 am #429254Being the person who charted it, I can tell you that the strum lanes on the chorus of The Root Of All Evil were intentional. And I put them there because it seemed as if the strumming came pretty irregularly. It’s probably the wah-wah that makes it seem that way.

September 16, 2014 at 9:37 pm #429313Regarding the 12 Step Suite:
I know it would take a lot of work, but it would be nice if someone recharted all the sections of the song that have triplets. Most (if not all) of the sections with them are actually three 16th notes followed by space instead of using a triplet snap, making the Guitar chart difficult to read at times, specifically the first solo in “Root of All Evil” (which I believe has the keys charted here, but I digress). This also causes the forcing/unforcing of hopos to become inconsistent/awkward. Additionally, the chart becomes wonky during parts where the time signature or tempo changes, but I’m sure there’s only so much that can be done in that regard. There’s definitely a measure in The Glass Prison that’s out of sync, but it sorts itself out by the next measure. There are also some inconsistencies within the songs regarding note trail length and hopo forcing, but these are just minor. Since I don’t play drums I have no idea how good the charting is for that so yeah.
Overall it’s an amazing chart and I’m glad that this monster is finally playable in some way. There’s not much that I would change regarding the charting. It would just be really nice to see it in its full potential. Full Band any time soon? ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
Also,
Incidentally I wonder if anyone can beat my X guitar score. 2,382,572. 95%. 1,272 streak.2,646,333. 98% . 1843 Note Streak, on my sightread.
September 16, 2014 at 9:49 pm #429315Yeah I did notice that issue with spacing of triplets also, but I didn’t want to push it >__>
September 16, 2014 at 10:19 pm #429319If Bsbloom is motivated to adhere to these triplet issues then I’m all for updating it but since I hardly play guitar and mostly drums, I would rather a person who is more accustomed to guitar charting to deal with it. Also, it may be possible to add one more instrument because so far the midi file is 700k out of 1mb but most likely not. Full band would be out of the question for sure.
