Depression is a waste of time. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> Give it a kick in the shin and go back to living well asap. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
If only it were that easy. *Sigh*
But I do agree, I’ve dealt with depression for years. It wastes so much time and it sucks.
Mine has gotten worse time to time, like now, it has definitely hit a peak, and although I’ve tried to do a certain action recently, I’m here posting this, and I’m happy I was found before it was too late.
You WILL be fine. I say that to myself often, and it helps more than you can imagine.
Don’t try to fight it, that just makes it worse. What you need to do is manipulate it, use the bad emotions it gives you and get them out in a harmless way.
What I do, is work out and let it all out with punches, right into a punching bag, so no harm to anybody or myself, and it all comes right out. It can work with a lot of different hobbies, not just exercise.
I also write, even if it’s a story that will never go public or a video game idea that will never become a reality, you put your emotion into those characters, and the depression just leaves you for a little while.
So I don’t know if any of this means anything to you, but just know that there is at least one person that is right there with you.
I can’t be the only one, I’m sure there are others here that deal with this as well. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
February 24, 2016 at 6:14 pm #464053Thank you all for the kind words and advice – I’m very touched ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> not that we didn’t already know it, but what a great community this is ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> xxx
February 24, 2016 at 8:38 pm #464063I suffer from depression as well, and am quite familiar with the fact that sometimes your own actions and best intentions can’t overcome brain chemistry that is always working to undermine your efforts. It’s a real thing.
That said, I want to say again how your full album custom of Nine Black Alps is the single most mind-blowing contribution that I’ve found on an already wonderful community. Just the fact that it exists amazes me, and the fact that is was so lovingly crafted fills me with joy.
Thanks for bringing the magic.
Keep on trying. It’s all we can do, sometimes, even when it seems impossible.
February 24, 2016 at 9:18 pm #464064I’m not sure what brought me to this thread honestly, but I’m glad I came across it because I also suffer from depression and can relate with everything everybody else has been saying as well.
I know chances are you’ve heard all this a million times, but I also know from personal experience that it still helps to hear it. So, just try to remember that even when things seem completely hopeless, there are still people out there who care deeply about you and are rooting for you. Keep trying to make your dreams come true, and don’t let anybody tell you they can’t. Also even though I personally haven’t acquired any of your customs, thank you so much for your contributions. This community is amazing (as you yourself mentioned a couple of posts up) and obviously you have been a huge contributor to it!
Keep your chin up and remember that things will get better. I hope they get better for you soon!
February 26, 2016 at 9:30 am #464133So, for those of you who are interested, I have a bit of an update. As some of you know, I’ve been training how to be a teacher since September and have had no time for making customs.
Unfortunately, my course has not been going well at all. I failed one of my school placements and went into a bit of a negative spiral, and ended up being signed off with depression a few weeks ago, for the time being at least.
For a whole host of reasons, this completely sucks, and the last few weeks and months have been really, really tough. But there is a silver lining to this cloud – I have some time at the moment to do some customs again. I’m really out of practice seeing as I haven’t done any since around August (apart from a brief drum stint for the End of Days) but as of this afternoon I have resumed ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> I’m planning a pack at the moment and will hopefully get some customs up and released in the next few days. This is all subject to change depending on how rusty I end up being with it, but fingers crossed ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Firstly sorry to hear things are tough at the moment mate but keep the faith and try to remain positive! It’s great that you still commit time to customs it’s hugely appreciated and I’ll always be in debt to you for tuned to a different station it’s just fuckin awesome to play and purely for that I’m truly grateful! Glad to see you back

That’s very kind of you to say – I loved doing the Nine Black Alps songs. They were mainly for myself to enjoy, I wasn’t expecting them to be the most popular, so it’s great to know others have enjoyed them too ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

Thank you – as awful as it is, in a weird way it’s good to know I’m not alone on this board! Thanks for the kind words and all the best to you.
Ps any hints to this in progress pack?

Thanks for your kind words too ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
It’s a multi-artist themed pack. It will have at least 3 songs but maybe many more than that depending on how I get on. I don’t want to give away too much yet, but here are some hints on the theme:
1) All the songs have featured in a popular series of video games.
2) There are 2 customs I have previously released that would be eligible to fit into this pack. Also, a lot of Harmonix-released songs would fit in as well.
February 27, 2016 at 11:31 am #464163Gran Turismo 3 pack maybe? (Just a Day and Buck Rogers was on the soundtrack, along with Are You Gonna Go My Way, Stone Free, Kickstart My Heart and She Sells Sanctuary for the Harmonix clue…)
February 29, 2016 at 6:19 pm #464294I’ve hit a little bit of a wall with this pack, but 4 songs are ready, so I’ll be playtesting them this evening and sharing them soon. Here are some hints for the pack and the individual songs ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Hints for new pack
All the songs have featured in a popular series of video games.
There are 2 customs I have previously released that would be eligible to fit into this pack. One of them is a song by Nine Black Alps. Also, a lot of Harmonix-released songs would fit in as well.
Song 1 was part of a double A-side which reached number 1 in the UK. It was this singer’s second solo number 1, who had previously had seven number 1 singles as part of another act. This song was released on the video game before it was released in its own right.
Song 2 is from this university-town band’s debut album. It was the last single released from that album, but it did not fly in the charts, although its title was apt considering the year it was released.
Song 3 is by an Australian band, despite the Scandinavian nature of their name. This song was released as the third single from their fourth album.
Song 4 is by another Australian band. Their name is taken from a family in a series of popular films. This song is the first track on their first, and thus far only, album.
Happy guessing!
This pack will also see me finally reach the milestone of 100 customs – I didn’t quite get there last summer. Thanks to everyone who’s downloaded and enjoyed my customs, and here’s to 100 more… eventually! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
February 29, 2016 at 9:01 pm #464307I played this video game series a lot back in the day but I can’t figure out your hints. Maybe I have to play them to refresh my memory! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
February 29, 2016 at 11:04 pm #464316I’m so very bad at the hints game. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” />
February 29, 2016 at 11:20 pm #464317Song 4 is by another Australian band. Their name is taken from a family in a series of popular films. This song is the first track on their first, and thus far only, album.
I was thinking Mammal – Smash the Pinata, Australian, only had one album but I don’t this was the first track on that album and really doesn’t link with the family in series of popular films, but hey I’ve starting the guessing even though I’m wrong haha ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> welcome back buddy!
