March 6, 2015 at 1:45 am #439934Wanna buy my Squier?
If you are in South Florida, PM me. Otherwise, I don’t think I wanna pay shipping charges on that monstrosity.
March 6, 2015 at 1:50 am #439935One more point and questions about the “piracy” thing. I’ll be buying RB4 for the PS4, making the songs for the 360 to fit in with the rest of my customs. I bought over 2000+ DLC for PS3, and found other methods for 360. HMX has over 3000 dollars of my money. I support them buy buying content, and doing my own method of multi platform exporting so to speak.I don’t see how exporting from 1 game to abother is “piracy”. Kinda like how we all bought the Beatles Rock Band and used custom export for RB3. I’ll be buying RB4, and doing a custom export to rock band 3. I don’t see how that’s any different. If this is not a place to discuss it id like to know who I can discuss it with because the Beatles thing is pretty much the same in my opinion.
I don’t know, maybe it was:
Once the files are ripped I will absolutely be doing RB3 versions of RB4 songs at some point.Which, I mean, has the strong implication that you will not be a) ripping your own files and keeping them to yourself.
Or maybe it was:
Most of the community here I’m sure knows where else you can go for such customs since they aren’t allowed here.Which, I mean, hints that you’re talking about sites sharing the type of content that is not allowed here, which pretty much means we’re talking about distributing HMX content, because that’s what is verboten.
Now, perhaps those assumptions were unfair, but then in your defense of your position you feed me the following gem:
I bought over 2000+ DLC for PS3, and found other methods for 360. HMX has over 3000 dollars of my money. I support them buy buying content, and doing my own method of multi platform exporting so to speak.Which, I don’t know, I’m trying to think really hard about all of the methods for getting official content onto your 360, and I’m coming up with a couple of options. Some certainly are legit, and I’m willing to give you the benefit of the doubt here (you may have converted content yourself, for example, or simply repurchased them).
You can do whatever you want to do in the privacy of your own home, at your own risk, but these forums are not your own home. Consider this a warning shot before I start abusing my red name muscle and decide to start treating it as Rule #4. Yes, I’m thought policing it.
The TB:RB export is an exception case for a number of reasons (some of which nemo mentions), and its handling/positioning in C3 differs from most tracks for those reasons among others. We had a long discussion about that project prior to launching C3. There is no such exception in place and there will be no such discussion for content from a mainline sequel being “backported” to a previous iteration.
Edit:
To make this clear for anyone else who may see this wall of text and have their eyes glaze over:
Discussions about porting hypothetical future Rock Band 4 content to a previous iteration of the engine are not permitted, and will be treated the same way we treat any other discussions about piracy of HMX content (implied or otherwise) — consider it off limits, full stop. If you have an issue with this, contact me via PM, but know ahead of time that this is not a ‘flexible’ rule.
March 6, 2015 at 3:42 am #439940Hmm, since I can’t talk about exporting RB4 to 3.. I’ll talk about porting RB4 into Guitar Hero 1! And then porting RB1 to DJ Hero 2! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” /> And Rock Revolution to Power Gig! Like seriously, why hasn’t anyone ported RB3 songs to RB2? Hmm? I WANT TO PLAY REHAB IN RB2 DAMNIT! *shot* All this talk about reverse porting new songs to older engines is like running a steamroller over a brand new chair so it feels more broken in. That way the new chair can have keys and pro-guitar while I sit on the smooshed lump of debris feeling uncomfortable. While the guy next to me sits in his new chair that is perfectly functional and will get broken in, even without keys and pro-guitar. (hooray for bad analogies)
Of course I’m kidding.
I think what the higher ups are saying is “Hey, it’s against the rules to talk about doing that kind of stuff here. Maybe take the discussion where that stuff is okay, instead of going on incessantly about it where it’s against the rules.” What they aren’t saying is “Please go die in a fire because we hate you, evil alien mutant!” ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
I mean, I hope we do find a way for C3 to continue making customs that we can play in both RB3 and 4, well after 4 is established. If Harmonix releases official DLC of the song, we can hopefully remove it from the library here. That way we all win, keep HMX happy, and hope someone off-forum “explores the new guitar hero game enough” to play in RB4. *cough* ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
You don’t get to make that determination for me ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />Yeah, that’s my job! Nemo, go chart the entire Xanadu OST, after the next round of bugfixes for the C3 tools and Player. This I COMMAND!
Back on topic though:
I am pumped at having new hardware. I’m still rocking out with a RB1 guitar and mic, RB2 with triple cymbal kit drums, and the RB3 keyboard, on PS3. (I’m speshal ) I was fortunate enough to get a RB3 guitar for playing customs on the 360. Finding any instruments out here for anything that isn’t Ps2 GH2 is impossible. Having more responsive equipment, with new features, all in a bundle with the game is a god send for lil’ ol’ me.
As for keys and pro-guitar, well I’m one of the optimistic few that hopes maybe they could be patched in later for legacy songs. Not new songs, just legacy songs. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
This is going to sound silly, but I hope for DLC that we might get some songs that were exclusive to one platform or another to both PS4 and XBone. Especially the older RBN tracks that are forever stuck to 360. I know HMX won’t, but if they could use the RBHP mids to upgrade the old songs, I’d need a new change of pants.
My biggest point of contention at the moment though is not knowing how the new systems are going to know you already have a specific song, and let you download it for free. Does it scan your Live/PSN account downloads to see if you bought it or something? Or do we all write harmonix lists of our DLC so they know to mail us keys or something?
Lastly, I’m looking forwards to seeing what new songs we get as official on-disc set-list.
My biggest hope though is that PS4 and XBone get equal development, unlike 720p/480p RB3 with no song cache file on PS3/Wii. Dat loading time.
March 6, 2015 at 3:53 am #439941I’ll talk about porting RB4 into Guitar Hero 1!lol Reminds me of back in the day making custom Guitar Hero 2 disks and putting Rock Band 1 songs in with the customs so I wouldn’t have to switch disk for my dream setlist. I owned both games so no harm was done but looking back I wonder why.
Also sound like I’m getting a PS4 within the year.
March 6, 2015 at 4:10 am #439943If anyone is wanting to buy new MIDI Pro Adapters, this is a great deal from someone that appears to have excellent reputation. I can’t help but think that with this announcement and the upcoming GH announcement, new interest in peripherals will drive the price up again. So I just grabbed two MPAs for my collection. That is a killer deal. If I didn’t already have 4 or 5 MPAs, I might buy some more spares.
March 6, 2015 at 4:24 am #439944Well, for someone who plays pro keys extensively in RB3, I’m very bummed that it’s not in RB4, though I’m not really surprised at all. Pro mode was something that many were excited for when it was announced for RB3, but I think for a lot of people grew stale quickly, ESPECIALLY pro guitar. Probably (unfortunately) the smart business move by Harmonix. Though I still hope they’ll bring at least pro keys back. I’m surprised and glad to see so many people commenting on the removal of an instrument that I didn’t think too many people cared about to begin with.
Depending on prices of consoles, instruments, etc., I’ll probably end up buying RB4 but I’m not sure. I don’t want to judge the quality of the game yet because, according to HMX, there will be a ton of new features added to the game. I have no idea what they’ll do but I don’t want to assume it’s a second RB2 just because there are no pro instruments. I’m really just waiting to see what they have in store for us; it’s probably not the best idea to start forming opinions of a game on literally the day it was announced.
If keys show up in RB4, insta-buy. Otherwise, I’ll still probably play RB3 primarily and maybe have RB4 to play.
March 6, 2015 at 4:48 am #439945Guitar Straps are probably going to be DLC, want Guitar Straps pay $10

you say it!!!!!!
March 6, 2015 at 5:05 am #439948My biggest hope though is that PS4 and XBone get equal development, unlike 720p/480p RB3 with no song cache file on PS3/Wii. Dat loading time.Hey, Wii got song caches. The game was just never updated past the stock disc version. Both versions should be the same this time around.
March 6, 2015 at 5:35 am #439953Is anyone else a little disappointed with the instruments they showed? Are these really going to be the exact same drums and guitar models 5 years later? I’m sure they’ll be updated in minor ways (I remember them saying the guitar tilt sensor will be more intuitive [yay i guess?]). But I’m kind of disappointed they didn’t make an effort to do a little bit of redesign while they had the chance.
March 6, 2015 at 6:00 am #439954It would be amazing if they’d launch a new and better drums kit with double bass pedal by default.
AND FOR GOD’S SAKE, breakneck speed has to be similar to hyperspeed (off,1, 2, 3, 4 and 5). Playing drums in expert with no breakneck speed is too slow, while playin’ with breakneck speed is too f******* fast.
March 6, 2015 at 6:44 am #439957No pro, no buy.
(Oh yeah, drummers are fortunate…)
Looks like I will stay focused on Rocksmith and Phase Shift.
March 6, 2015 at 8:27 am #439958Is anyone else a little disappointed with the instruments they showed? Are these really going to be the exact same drums and guitar models 5 years later? But I’m kind of disappointed they didn’t make an effort to do a little bit of redesign while they had the chance. That’s footage of them replaying RB3 for research purposes. They’re using old instruments because, y’know, they haven’t made the new ones yet.
Edit: Ah, the images on the Mad Catz site. Actually, I like ’em. So long as they’re of a better build quality than the original instruments, I’m in.
March 6, 2015 at 11:58 am #439964I’m one of those folks who switched from Xbox 360 to Playstation 4 for this gen. It’s going to be interesting to see whether it’s more cost effective to buy the RB4 instrument package plus an extra guitar for bass or just bite the bullet and get an Xbox One to use the old instruments. That’s what I’m doing, tbh. I’ve already started making deals to put that money toward an XB1.
March 6, 2015 at 1:33 pm #439971Anybody know if you can still use an electronic drum kit with rb4?
