The amount of butt hurt in this topic is incredible. RB3 represents plastic instrument games at the absolute pinnacle of their success(glut) and the fact that RB4 is a much more tailored and focused experience should not come as a surprise to anyone. Actually almost none of what they announced should come as a surprise to anyone.
March 5, 2015 at 4:11 pm #439806No reason for us to be worried about the possible “death” of customs. Since this next game is going to be self-published by Harmonix, there might not be any actions taken to prevent customs. As long as it stays non-profit and HMX still gets their DLC sales, there’s nothing telling them to stop customs from being made.
March 5, 2015 at 4:13 pm #439807i wonder if we could find a way to port all the customs to the new game too cos alot of hard work from people has been put into those tis a shame if we cant find a way to port them over
March 5, 2015 at 4:14 pm #439809It might seem unimportant to some, but I really want to know if these two features are back
1: Seeing your score on the song select screen
and more importantly
2: Score Duel/Pro Faceoff
March 5, 2015 at 4:15 pm #439810I liked keys. I can understand why they’re doing anyway with them and pro guitar though.
But harmonies? They have to keep them, right?
If the “career mode” was a legit realistic simulation of a budding rockstar, that could be interesting.
March 5, 2015 at 4:20 pm #439812Even though I hardly ever played keys, I’m disappointed that it’s being removed. Now that I’ve gotten used to it being included, a lot of songs will really feel like something’s missing (particularly many prog rock songs).
Still going to get this anyway, hopefully if it’s successful they’ll consider re-adding them in the future in a way that meshes better with the “band experience” than in RB3.

From what I hear, there is mounting evidence that Harmonies are sticking around.

That would be awesome. It might even convince to buy the game even if the setlist was lackluster.
Which of the “hundreds” of existing DLC will be available at launch will be a huge factor for me, too.
Also, I love your avatar.
March 5, 2015 at 4:27 pm #439815Honestly I’m hoping our good friend Bluzer will rip the new files from RB4 so I can convert them to a RB3 Con, and then add keys and harmonies if I wanted to. Similar to converting GH songs. If this was done, would this be frowned upon and considered posting “official” content and be pulled like when people post official DLC?
March 5, 2015 at 4:30 pm #439816I don’t see why they couldn’t have kept non-pro keys.
I imagine they are dropping pro keys becuase it’s too much work, but I doubt non pro keys takes any more work than non pro guitar/bass
March 5, 2015 at 4:33 pm #439818I liked keys. I can understand why they’re doing anyway with them and pro guitar though. Is the removal of keys/pro keys in RB4 similar to the conundrum C3 has with whether to author keys on certain songs and the difficulties that keys being present in a song present? Just curious why everyone understands why they are removing keys.
March 5, 2015 at 4:35 pm #439819I’m hoping for improved instruments. The strumbar good be much better.
Tracklist is very important and I would like to see beautiful characters.
Customs on Xbox one would be great cuz I still have a 360 only for rockband

From my understanding, C3’s issue with authoring keys on some songs was that the instrument was buried in the mix and inaudible. If HMX still requires the stems to songs in order to author them, they likely wouldn’t have nearly as much trouble in that regard.
More probable that they didn’t see as many people playing keys so they decided to save time, money, and effort in that area.

I wonder if they might consider a plastic guitar with an actual string, like the Mustang. It would look pretty odd unless they used 6 strings, though, and probably very unlikely ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

God I hope not.

Similar, yes. Basically, the more charts that the team has to author, the less quality content they can put out each week.
Back when RB2 was new, they were putting out huge packs and albums frequently. When RB3 came out with keys and pro instruments, even after only authoring Pro Guitar/Bass on certain songs, the quantity of songs became lower and lower as the weeks went on, and sometimes the charts suffered as a result.
