That’s true, I have all the current gen systems so it wasn’t a concern. I also no longer play with an e-kit and even though I have 11 guitars and 2 drumsets that I’m keeping, I want all-new instruments too.

So it’s just a matter of pressing a button for me.

Is this free style guitar feature something that can be turned off or not used? what if I want to play the real Solo?

        #448105

The “xbone backwards compatibility” announcement has pushed me a bit towards getting one just for RB4, but freestyle guitar solos are pushing me away.

GK pointed out in our chat that they have already shown gameplay of a solo being played, so it’s more than probably just optional.

            Thanks. I hope so.

            Thanks. I hope so.

Yes it’s optional. Confirmed by Harmonix publicist on NeoGAF and confirmed as an option in the IGN article about it.

Well, anyone want to join me on the Pre-Ordered on Day 1 Club?

              I just joined.

I have to admit there seems to be something for everyone in the way of RB4 disappointments. No more keys, no more pro instruments save drums, a big question mark on whether e-kits will still work, and now no more online play… that’s an awful lot of risk right there, almost as much as ditching legacy instruments altogether and forcing players into a new way of playing pretend-guitar.

But, I still love Harmonix, warts and all, and even if keys are dead and drums are being threatened with amputation, there are still the new songs and the new vocal features to look forward to, for me at least. So, I’m buyin’.

Maybe I’ll even buy an XBox One to go with this new game once it ships.

Well, anyone want to join me on the Pre-Ordered on Day 1 Club? Seems to be mighty lonely here. We have t-shirts. Someone will bring cookies, I’m sure.

I’m in. I’ll bring the booze… We’re probably gonna need it.

Anyone have the Best Buy Gamer’s Club membership? With it you can buy the bundle for $200. I don’t have it, but if I get it ($30 for 2 years) then the bundle still comes out $229.99 + tax…so I guess I’m getting that membership. I hope Best Buy then carries the instruments so I can buy them all at 20% off :v:

And… the 30 bonus tracks turn out to be… well… pretty cool if you’re into Harmonix bands. Lots and lots of repeats, though.

Semi-related: GH/RB games from Xbox 360 probably won’t get ported any time soon.

Because this solution is a software-only emulation, titles that require a hardware accessory are not part of this feature.

By the time you add tax in I’m almost already back at $250 so meh. It would really only help if you already had it but having to pay vs no tax on Amazon (in my state anyway) kinda offsets it.

For me it works out to $244 after tax and I can pick up in person at Best Buy, which I much prefer to shipping in any way…so it works for me

And if it applies to accessories, it’s worth it since I I want to buy at least one more guitar, 2 additional mics and a cymbal kit.

The divergence from traditional Rock Band franchise is becoming more extreme, like how the new Guitar Hero is radically different from what that franchise had become.
