I never knew how important online play is important for some of you. On the survery months ago that was what I put at the bottom lol. I never played online and if I did would probably get kicked for not playing on expert.

All but confirmed that online anything is not in. The absence of leaderboards would make so little sense to me that I’m still questioning my judgment here but there isn’t a single mention of “online” anywhere, in contrast with previous iterations of the game that featured online play and/or leadeboards on the back of cases or press releases. The big new thing, which is the “RPG” aspect, is relegated to 2 lines of copy: either they are still working on exactly what will be in that feature or it sounds a bit lackluster.
June 15, 2015 at 12:27 pm #448032Was just about to post that link, heh.
I guess we have a date and a price confirmed… gonna be like CAD$300, ouch.
No online just seems like such a crazy omission at launch nowadays, and a weird thing to patch in, but I suppose they want to hit Black Friday/Holiday 2015.
June 15, 2015 at 12:46 pm #448033This ‘event’ is becoming less compelling with each reveal.

Is it so expensive that just having a server recording scores can’t be done? And if leaderboards ARE in and they are not mentioning them, maybe simple quickplay online is in too and no metion of online mode only applies to the career mode.
June 15, 2015 at 1:02 pm #448035Pre-order Bonus – Amazon ExclusivePre-order the Rock Band 4 Band-In-A-Box or the Rock Band 4 Fender Stratocaster Guitar Software Bundle for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One and get a Song Pack of 34 downloadable tracks playable in Rock Band 4. Customers who pre-order from Amazon.com will get 4 exclusive tracks: • Alabama Shakes “Don’t Wanna Fight†• Breaking Benjamin “Failure†• Death From Above 1979 “Trainwreck 1979†• The Pretty Reckless “Follow Me Down.†Code will be emailed within 2 business days after your order ships. Offer limited to items shipped and sold by Amazon.com. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time.
Worth noting. Whether the “34” is a typo and should just be “4”, or there’s an RB2 ‘bonus’ pack of 30 songs + 4 more “unique” to Amazon is tbd.

If it’s 34 songs, where does it say they’re new? Maybe it’s a breaking in pack for people who don’t have all the already released songs…
June 15, 2015 at 2:20 pm #448043“Work the Crowd. New Stage Presence gameplay allows players to work the crowd into a frenzy by flaunting their charisma and working together with their bandmates for in-game rewards and real-time audience reactions.”
This is the pre-song “Hello, Cleveland!” and “voting” thing that they showed in the demo, yes?
I never play online, so that feature doesn’t mean much to me, personally…but wow…I don’t see how you can release a game nowadays that doesn’t feature some kind of online play or leaderboard component.
June 15, 2015 at 2:40 pm #448044What makes me think is that no leaderboards would be just, I don’t know, meaningless? Is it so expensive that just having a server recording scores can’t be done?I don’t see why it would be. I’m sure they could even just rent a server for a couple hundred bucks a month that would be powerful enough for tracking scores.
Also, the new stock drum kit doesn’t include cymbals and I don’t even see any mention about cymbal attachments. It doesn’t bode well for the fate of pro drums.

It doesn’t bode well for the fate of pro drums. It’s been mentioned more than once now that cymbals are in, they’re improved from prior version, and just like prior version, they’re added on at an extra premium. I just hope I can get them on day 1, don’t want to play without them.
June 15, 2015 at 2:47 pm #448047Welp, put me in the “not buying” camp. $250 is too much ($200 or less was my breaking point), I HATE the fact that there is going to be retailer exclusive songs though it won’t be that big of a deal if they are also available as DLC, and the lack of features just makes me not be able to justify putting away RB3, my 360 and all of the amazing custom songs we have here!

That is interesting. Like farottone mentions, maybe the 34 songs are already existing songs and the 4 songs are retailer exclusive new songs. Maybe they will do it like 34 of the most popular DLC songs out there now you get kinda like Rock Band Track Pack Vol 1 and 2.
June 15, 2015 at 2:50 pm #448049Welp, put me in the “not buying” camp. $300 is too much ($250 or less was my breaking point)Both Amazon and Toys R Us show price is $250 with free shipping in the U.S. for the box kit. $130 for the guitar + game bundle.
Maybe they will do it like 34 of the most popular DLC songs out there now you get kinda like Rock Band Track Pack Vol 1 and 2.I really hope it turns out to be “credit towards 30 dlc songs from the store of your choosing” rather than a list of specific songs.

While I’m not optimistic (not much of what’s been unveiled re: RB4 has made me optimistic), “credit towards 30 dlc songs from the store of your choosing”…$60 worth of credit that you can use however you like in the store would be a pretty good carrot, IMO.

Herp derp. I meant $250 is too much and that $200 was my breaking point. Will edit my original post. Sorry for the confusion…
One thing that is interesting though is they are saying $130 for game + guitar bundle whereas you could pre-order the PAX exclusive game + guitar bundle for $100. I wonder what the extra $30 is for?
