Hello. I’ve been charting for a couple of months now and it has all been well. Today I had a friend go through my files to help me with something and now for some reason Reaper crashes every time I open an .rpp of a custom. I’m thinking he must have deleted something necessary for it to work, but I checked that I have all the necessary plug-ins and whatnot and everything is there. Is there something I’m doing wrong? Thanks

I would suggest to try to re-install REAPER.

Is the backup file still there ? It would have an .rpp-bak I think.

If not, let this be your first lesson in making redundant backups every time you sit down to author. Sounds like a pain (it’s not really its just changing your behaviour), and then this can never happen again. Good luck.

I guess I wasn’t clear; Reaper crashes every time I open ANY custom. So it’s not the files themselves I don’t think, but something with Reaper

Which is why you should reinstall it.

Reinstalling didn’t work; is there a way of extracting the MIDI from an .rpp file so I could import it?

There isn’t, no. You could try creating a portable REAPER installation, to see if that makes any difference.

I kinda think the answer would be easier to find at the actual support forums at reaper.fm since its not so much an issue with authoring a custom.
