Well, folks, we’re finally here. The end of one chapter of one very, very long journey. Three and a half years after we figured out we could add harmonies to legacy tracks and after I committed to getting them done for every piece of legacy content, we’ve finally done it. As most of you know, this content was ‘done’ for Rock Band 4’s release (thanks in part to a summer powergrind I don’t want to ever revisit), but this time you’re getting it for Rock Band 3. I’ve gone through and redone the math and rechecked the credits and revisited the spreadsheet and spent the better part of eight or nine hours today double-checking my notes, and I mean, it’s still not done, but it’s done enough, dammit. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>This release includes the two hundred and twentyish not-yet-released legacy DLC and disc upgrades, as well as a couple of RBN upgrades (the Schick pack tracks) and a polishing pass for several hundred of the legacy tracks. It is, by far, the largest single RBHP release, though it has admittedly been several months in the making. This brings us to completion of the project’s original mission/goal, giving us a total of 1,092 legacy disc and DLC upgrades (and about 540 others). Many of you may remember the original RB:HP estimated end date was 12/25/15, before we ramped up authoring to try and beat RB4. Well, I figured that would make for a good date to release everything after all, though I opted to release it a day early in case people want to have it for tomorrow night or Friday morning. Hope nobody minds the ‘wait’. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>There are a handul of critical notes I want to mention with this release.- This is far from RBHP’s final release. In addition to ongoing polishing passes on these charts for RBHP and RB4, I will be looking to put out some other releases that were submitted to me. I may need to ask some folks to resubmit these to me sometime next year because I am sure I absolutely forgot about some and I am really, really sorry.
- I will be around this weekend if there are any major issues or things break with this release. Probably not tomorrow (beyond the morning) or Friday, though.
- The pro guitar/bass and pro keys tracks that had harmonies integrated have not yet been updated with revised or new charts, where applicable. I ran out of time. Sorry. I will be trying to get these done next week, but no promises.
- Videos for the other tracks will be forthcoming, though I can’t say to when. I’m currently reviewing all of the charts in RB4 for issues, and following that I’ll try and budget some time to record the RB3 videos.
With those notes out of the way, here is the (hopefully complete) list of new upgrades from this week (I am not listing all of the updated tracks because, no, but the spreadsheet has them all tagged):Lego Rock Band Harmony Upgrades* Razorlight – “Stumble and Fall” (espher)Rock Band DLC 2007 Harmony Upgrades* David Bowie – “Queen Bitch” (espher)Rock Band DLC 2008 Harmony Upgrades* Against Me – “Stop!” (espher)* Airbourne – “Runnin’ Wild” (farottone)* Avenged Sevenfold – “Afterlife” (pksage)* Avenged Sevenfold – “Critical Acclaim” (pksage)* Children of Bodom – “Are You Dead Yet?” (espher)* Coheed and Cambria – “Ten Speed (Of God’s Blood and Burial)” (Nyxyxylyth)* DevilDriver – “Clouds Over California” (espher)* Devo – “Girl U Want” (Nyxyxylyth)* Devo – “Through Being Cool” (Nyxyxylyth)* Disturbed – “Indestructible” (pksage)* Disturbed – “Inside the Fire” (pksage)* Disturbed – “Perfect Insanity” (pksage)* Dream Theater – “Constant Motion” (Drihscol)* Duran Duran – “Girls on Film” (farottone)* Duran Duran – “Rio” (farottone)* Evile – “Thrasher” (espher)* Finley – “Tutto è possibile” (pksage)* Iron Maiden – “The Number of the Beast” (espher)* James Gang – “Funk #49” (espher)* The Janitors – “Get Your Rock On” (farottone)* The Killers – “Smile Like You Mean It” (espher)* The Killers – “Spaceman” (espher)* Killswitch Engage – “My Curse” (non_zero)* Lamb of God – “Laid to Rest” (espher)* Machinehead – “Aesthetics of Hate” (espher)* Megadeth – “Sleepwalker” (Drihscol)* The Mother Hips – “Red Tandy” (Nyxyxylyth)* The Mother Hips – “Time-Sick Son of a Grizzly Bear” (Nyxyxylyth)* Nine Inch Nails – “March of the Pigs” (pksage)* Oasis – “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” (espher)* Platero y Tú – “Hay Poco Rock N Roll” (espher)* Rush – “Limelight (Original Version)” (Drihscol)* Scars on Broadway – “They Say” (espher)* Screaming Trees – “Nearly Lost You” (espher)* Silversun Pickups – “Melatonin” (GreenPanda12)* Silversun Pickups – “Well Thought Out Twinkles” (GreenPanda12)* Snow Patrol – “Take Back the City” (thomeval)* Soundgarden – “Jesus Christ Pose” (Nyxyxylyth)* Soundgarden – “Pretty Noose” (espher)* Squeeze – “Tempted” (espher)* Stained – “This Is It” (espher)* Testament – “Electric Crown” (espher)* Thenewno2 – “Yomp” (espher)* Tokio Hotel – “Ready, Set, Go!” (farottone)Rock Band DLC 2009 Harmony Upgrades* 30 Seconds to Mars – “Kings and Queens” (espher)* 30 Seconds to Mars – “This is War” (espher)* AFI – “Beautiful Thieves” (farottone)* AFI – “End Transmission” (farottone)* AFI – “Love Like Winter” (farottone)* AFI – “Medicate” (farottone)* AFI – “The Leaving Song Pt. Interest in the project was small at the onset, but over the course of these three and a half years, activity has picked up. Files relating to the project (tools, instructions, and packages) have seen over 13,000 downloads, which is a small number but pretty big for this project (I estimate there were roughly 150 regular, unique users, so I’ll take that). A little over 200 people decided it would be a good idea to have me fill up their Notifications window on Twitter with 30 posts at a time whenever I put videos together. The RBHP YouTube channel has 535 subscribers and its roughly 1,000 videos have been viewed nearly 200,000 times (another week and it should clear that target). The reaction to legacy harmonies in RB4 far exceeded my expectations, with it seemingly being the second most well received piece of news in the initial reveal behind DLC carrying forward. The interest was there and it made the grind a lot easier to stomach, so thank you for that and for your support as a community over the years.First and foremost, I would like to thank two people without whom this project wouldn’t even be possible. I would like to extent my thanks to pikminguts92 as he was the one that stumbled upon the method to do this and first shared it with a video of Anthrax’s “Metal Thrashing Mad” on a Facebook customs community that predated C3 by a couple of years, and without him finding it this project likely wouldn’t have got off the ground – I certainly didn’t have the know-how to experiment and figure it out, and I likely wouldn’t have pursued it further on my own. I would also like to thank trojannemo, whose many tools helped eliminate some of the tedium of this entire project, and who has graciously hosted the files for the project from quite early on; furthermore, he was also one of the first people to give me feedback and encouragement when I jumped into customs authoring, and expressed confidence in my vocal charting ability, making me think this was even feasible to begin with.I’d like to extend my gratitude to Harmonix for a) making a great franchise that I have played for many years, bringing harmonies over from The Beatles: Rock Band into Rock Band 3, and c) not ever issuing a C&D. Their willingness to engage the community over the years has been fantastic, and it’s borne fruit for them and for the community at large through initiatives, like that whole RBN thing that was pretty great. Here’s to much more of Rock Band 4.I would also like to thank the chart contributors to the project, as of this writing. Harmonies in varying amounts were provided to this project by CyclopsDragon, DorkmasterFlek, Drihscol, GreenPanda12, Lowlander, MarsPhoenix, Mr. Underhill, Nightmare Lyra, non_zero, Oddbrother, and toopskittles. Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrades in varying amounts were provided to this project by AddyMilldike, columbo777, pikminguts92, and xEpiDeMiiKxx. Keys and Pro Keys upgrades were provided to this project by CyclopsDragon, DVDSmith, H3ADShOt3, Linos Melendi, MarsPhoenix, mazegeek, sageamagoo, and titiln. Pro Drums upgrades were provided to this project by CyclopsDragon, GreenPanda12, Lowlander, Sideshow, steve25469, and toopskittles. Assorted other variants and fixes were provided to the project by DorkmasterFlek, GreenPanda12, LoopyChew, and Oddbrother. I want to thank you all for your contributions and for putting up with me throughout the project, and I hope you at least understand why I was so paranoid about quality and timelines and admittedly acted like a dick through most of this thing!I want to mention two other people who were regular contributors and contributed in a ways extending a little beyond just charting, as well. thomeval provided a wealth of quality harmony upgrades and was a major contributor of the vocal tonic info for most charts, but he also provided one of the three misheard lyric variants, refined the packager application to make it not-hot-garbage, and also created some other tools and resources to help with automation and record-keeping – a major contributor on the backend in ways that aren’t noticed by the population at large. Furthermore, StackOverflow0x contributed a selection of harmonies and keys upgrades to the project, and was (is) the person behind the Wii port and almost all of the Wii-related C3 customs and RBHP stuff.I want to give a brief tip of my hat to the folks that were also working on RBHP’s PS3 presence, though I’m honestly not sure how far along it got or how reliable it was. Whether we had a working product or not, in the end, I would like to thank Blackened, Dahnlee, grubextrapolate, and hamburgerjung for all of their involvement – if I missed anyone else, know that my thanks extends to you as well. Finally, I want to express my thanks to the other C3 Admins, who put up with a lot over the course of the last two and a half years of this project. I flaked on my C3 responsibilities more often than not to work on these, and even though I was one of the catalysts for C3 being a thing, my involvement ended up being nowhere near what I wanted it to be, and I started to drift away over time. Still, the team didn’t begrudge me that one iota, and they put up with a lot of my bitching and complaining in private about everything going wrong all the time (mostly my fault), and all three of them contributed towards the project’s contents, especially during the final grind where they pumped in huge time on top of the crazy hours they were putting into C3 towards the end of the traditional C3 release cycle. I don’t think I can empathically state enough that the effort and cost (both in time and money) these guys put into C3 was mammoth, and I don’t think I can convey how grateful I am that they were still willing to go above and beyond to help me out. farottone, Nyxyxylyth, and (most importantly for sekrit reasons) pksage – I couldn’t have gotten this far without your support. Thanks again, gents. With all that out of the way, we now reach the ‘end’ of the main part of a project that took up some 103 GB of hard drive space, consisted of some 34,000 files, burned through some 3 crappy USB sticks, probably killed one of my hard drives, generated countless thousands of expletives, resulted in at least a hundred tech support e-mail exchanges and confused surely even more end users, consumed well in excess of 1,500 hours (of my time – never mind the many hours everyone else spent on top of that!), and was still totally worth it.Thanks again, and hey, Merry Christmas, or Happy Holidays, or whatever. I’m gonna go pour myself a drink.“Throw it away // Forget yesterday // We’ll make the great escape // We won’t hear a word they say // They don’t know us anyway // Watch it burn // Let it die // Cause we are finally free tonight” – Boys Like Girls, ““
December 24, 2015 at 4:39 am #461161That was a whole lot of writing. And it was beautiful. I read everything while imagining your soothing Canadian voice in my head.
I’m glad to have contributed to this project in the small ways I did. I’m ashamed to say I never really took advantage of it myself but I’m very glad it made it into RB4. Which goes to show Iw ) was right after all back in 2012 when I complimented your first two customs!
Thanks dude. Now go get a few drinks!

December 24, 2015 at 4:44 am #461162It’s been a pleasure working with you sir!!
Your feedback throughout my attempts of charting the upgrades have made me the author I am today and I can’t thank you enough!!
I would love to work with you again in the future!!
Thanks a million man!!
December 24, 2015 at 1:09 pm #461174Thanks alot! While i’m not a good enough author to contribute, I love the RBHP and it has changed how we play Rock Band, both in RB3 and 4, these upgrades breathed new life into songs that would be skipped over before, and it’s amazing to see such dedication to the franchise to not only upgrade a handful of “demanded” songs, but to do the entire catalog.
Thanks alot for your effort, it’s greatly appreciated.
(P.S, Is it fine to make a video explaining how I install the RBHP? Figured it would be helpful with people with my setup (two hard drives).)
December 24, 2015 at 2:01 pm #461178I’m so proud to have been an infinitesimally small part in this. I still remember you saying how long it would take to do the whole lot and how distant and kind of an utopia that was. And yet you made it happen.
There is a metric ton of thanks in your post but you got it all wrong, mate: it’s the rest of the Rock Band community that needs to thank you, not the other way around. You have been the “open” face of C3, the one thing that makes us say without a shadow of a doubt that our customs world has given, and not taken. For that alone you deserve all the thanks we can give.
On top of that you are one of the nicest persons I know and I’m so happy to have shared this C3 experience with you. We got together to make an impact and you ended up getting your work in Rock Band 4: mission accomplished. To set a lofty goal and surpass it: that is excellence and that is what you did. What a journey you took us all on. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
December 24, 2015 at 2:57 pm #461181Thanks for the kind words, gents. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>

Be my guest!
December 24, 2015 at 4:47 pm #461185A tremendous accomplishment. Thanks espher and thanks everyone involved. It’s great to finally see this completed.
December 24, 2015 at 6:03 pm #461189Nice gift, espher. Thank you for all your work! Now take a break! You deserve it and I’m sure you need it!
Thank you to all the contributors as well.
At some point (and I mean later), we can still work on other upgrades like keys and such, right?(Question already answered; I are reader, honest I do!) I still have some on my agenda, once I figure out how to effectively integrate them.December 24, 2015 at 11:28 pm #461196Herculean effort!
Thanks again for your dedication to this project. Even if full-on customs were never possible, RBHP brought RB3 back to life for me and the missus.
December 25, 2015 at 12:45 am #461200Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? SAY IT AIN’T SO
IT’S FINALLY HERE!
Will there be a new releases batch?
December 25, 2015 at 5:51 am #461204Will there be a new releases batch?
No, because it would be like 500-600 songs worth and I am not preparing that archive. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
December 26, 2015 at 3:20 am #461226Is anyone having problems with select songs missing harmonies?
So far I’ve noticed.
Critical Acclaim – Harmonies aren’t included in the Keys upgrade.
Scream – Harmonies aren’t included in the pro drum fix.
Seize The Day – Can’t spot the mistake for this, although, songs.dta states “vocal parts 2” whereas the .mid has a third harmony part in, I assume the game would just ignore this though rather than marking it as solo vocals only?
HIM Pack 01 (used Sorting fix to change them from HIM to H.I.M to match Killing Loneliness)Scream and Seize The Day are from the Avenged Sevenfold Track pack, not single downloads.

There are a handul of critical notes I want to mention with this release.
- The pro guitar/bass and pro keys tracks that had harmonies integrated have not yet been updated with revised or new charts, where applicable. I ran out of time. Sorry. I will be trying to get these done next week, but no promises.
Seize the Day would just mean that the game icon shows two mics but the game has and loads three (the rock meter icon would correctly show three and it would otherwise work fine). I’ll take a look at it.
December 26, 2015 at 12:30 pm #461232Ah, missed that line in the OP since I was doing it while half asleep at 4 or so am.
Not sure what is up with seize the day then, I had a look at the DTA and put it side by side with a upgrade I know worked but couldn’t spot anything immediately different that stood out.
December 26, 2015 at 2:58 pm #461235It looks fine to me, as well. I couldn’t say.
