Really want to play the song “Race for the Prize” by the Flaming Lips, it’s one of their best songs, and topical, really surprised it hasn’t been charted yet.

I downloaded Reaper and found a nice midi of it really easily but don’t think I have the musical understanding to chart a song myself.

      Thanks!

I listened to the song a bit and am not a big fan, but what instruments are you having trouble with?

No instruments in particular, but I’ve never charted a song before and haven’t found a simple step by step guide.

First thing I would say is that it is not very simple. Start by downloading all of the required software then start with the video posted in the pinned authoring post by pksage https://www.twitch.tv/videos/49724270 (I started with this video). It will take you a couple hours just to get familiar with the software. Farrotone’s C3 guide also helped me. https://dl.c3universe.com/53cec8d2f2465 This wiki also is very important http://docs.c3universe.com/rbndocs/index.php?title=Main_Page

After getting familiar with software tempo mapping is required, then you will be able to chart. In my opinion, charting is the easiest part of the process. Once you finish charting you will have to convert through Magma and that’s where I got stuck because it will tell you of any errors in your chart and you will have to fix them. I’ve been working on two songs for over a month now and still have not released them. I would say I’ve spent about 80 hours of work so far for the two songs and it will probably be more as I have not been able to play test them yet. I learned that it takes lots of dedication to chart songs in the beginning because it is a slow process at first. Also you have to have a basic knowledge of how drums and guitars work in real life. As far as vocals and pro keys, it’s hard for me to explain how I can teach you to learn it because I have perfect pitch; trial and error note by note might have to be the way to go. It might be a good idea to just do a couple instruments at first then release the song. Maybe we can help each other in this process together.
