Hey guys,
So, I recently had to transfer my HDD to a new Xbox (my old one finally died). I’m currently going through the annoyingly long process of re-downloading/authenticating my Rock Band DLC after doing a license transfer for this console.
When I bought my old console, the previous owner had some tracks already on the console that I guess he bought. So, I was able to play them on the old console on my own account. On the new console, I know I can’t re-download or re-license them unless I buy them again, on my account. That’s fine, but what I’m wondering is if there’s a way to identify which of the songs in my library are now un-playable. As far as I can tell, the only way to find out which ones will give a “Song unplayable – skipping” is to go through, one by one, and try to play them. That would be awful. But it sucks to have songs in my library which I can’t play, especially since I run a pub night.
Any thoughts? I think it’s only the Iron Maiden track pack that I won’t have a license for, but I worry that I’ll be running my pub night and someone will want to play something that’s unplayable. I just can’t think of a way to find out which songs I don’t have licenses for.
The one way i could suggest is to go through your purchases via xbox.com, that will help identify which you bought. And maybe compare to a list created fm your song cache?
Ok, turns out I don’t need to remove the non-licensed tracks. Once you restart and/or reinstall TU5, it automatically removed the tracks I didn’t have licenses for. I lost like 30 songs, but I can purchase them again, at least – with the exception of Don’t Stop Believing, which is already gone from the store (as of… yesterday). Sigh!
Let this be a warning to others! When you transfer licenses to a new Xbox, make sure you bought your tracks on the account you’re moving over or you’ll lose them.
You are about to leave Rhythm Gaming World and access the external songs DB. While no song or file sold for commercially available videogames is hosted there and only fan generated content is allowed, Rhythm Gaming World has no direct control over the database and no files are hosted here. Alright, we had to made you aware of this, now you can visit the database!
