Ok then. I just found option 3 because I was leery of updating but it fixed the other 3 songs. You Really Got Me still skipping but Van Halen is still there and working. I’ll take it. Again, if anyone knows of a good way to decrypt an edat, please let me know.

I’m of the opinion that the VH song having the exact same name as the Kinks version is preventing the library from displaying both.

With the RPP files and audio, this could be confirmed by rebuilding in Magma using a different name for either song.

Outside of that, I’m out of ideas on how to get both ‘You Really Got Me’ versions to work on PS3

I followed Trojanemo’s advice and changed everything (files folder & dta data) to “kinksgotme” and both songs display fine in game. Still a skipping song issue with Kinks but that’s another problem. Try it, Gep.

I’ll give it another go. I pretty much did the same thing, in reverse by renaming the Vh version and DTA.

Guys… the problem with the song You really got me by Kinks share the exact same name as Van Halen song with same name.. If you had it in your song list you probably messed both songs, as you didn’t pay attention when copying it on your ps3 when it asked you to overwrite files and folders.

        #440239

We are aware of that of course. That’s what brought it to our attention.

Well, I think viperi is hinting at something else.

I saw mention that after “fixing” the values for The Kinks song, the VH song was still broken. That would be because when copying the song files for The Kinks song, the song files for VH were damaged/overwritten.

So the point would be to fix the DTA values for The Kinks song, then copy both the VH and The Kinks song back to the PS3.

I pretty much did this already.

Kinks was working, VH was not.

I removed the VH folder and DTA entry in the songs.DTA file, so VH was completely gone.

On my PC, I renamed the VH folder to “youreallygotmevh”.

I also changed the entry in its DTA to match before doing the merge.

After merging, I sent the new folder and DTA over to the PS3.

I have a separate folder for VH and Kinks now, and 2 discrete entries in the DTA.

My song list has the correct count but it is displaying one less than it should.

            “showing 2498 of 2499”.

VH does not show up, so that’s the missing song.

I’m going to remove BOTH songs tonight and start from scratch.

            To confirm:

To make these songs “unique” to RB3, all you should have to do is rename the folder and fix the folder path in the song.dta file, correct?

The filenames being the same should not matter, correct?

As already mentioned before, you need to change

              1) the shortname of the song – this would be (youreallygotme or ‘youreallygotme’ at the top of the dta

              2) the song path – this would be in the songs/youreallygotme/youreallygotme line

              3) the song ID – make sure they’re different from one another

              4) the folder name where all the song files are

              5) all the files inside that folder and the /gen/ folder – make sure you keep the existing naming convention, _keep must stay in youreallygotme_keep.png_ps3, it’s mid.edat, not just .mid or just .edat, etc.

Well I have fixed version of the song if anyone need it send me pm. I fixed the song by unpacking the con file, then I renamed all the files including songs dta from Kinks song “youreallygotme” into “youreallygm” then I packed it all into con file and used encryption type 2 10 seconds. Works like charm.

I believe step 1 is the one that burned me.

I did all the other steps, but thought there was only ONE change to the DTA (the path).

Thanks to all of you to follow up the issue I mentioned above.

Now, after finishing my vacations, I will try to solve the problem with you and update the database with two working songs.

I renamed all folders and files like Nemo told us but hadn’t any success like some of you (Gep, djmike) described as well.

                  @ Viperi

Just to make it clear, did you find a solution for both songs (VH and Kinks) working fine at the same time in the game without skipping song issue?

If so, please tell me what you did exactly. How and with what tool did you unpack and repack the CON file?

@hamburgerjung, as a datapoint, viperi’s solution worked for me.

Yeah, thanks for reply, but tell me please what tool you used for unpacking and repacking the con file. :shobon:

                        There’s only one tool you should be using <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
