I was pretty sure when we were chatting on ScoreHero we went over this CON thing and you said you had no problems providing us a CON file to host when it was ready to go (released separately etc). I don’t give a damn what you do with your own site/project, but we release CONs, and can only speak for myself when I say I have zero interest in pirating a song (especially if it’s one I won’t be keeping) just so I can build a CON for your release.
Feel free to host it temporarily and delete it once it’s on our hosting/released, and to not make reference to it on your own mats, but we’re providing CONs for many reasons, one of which is that RB3Maker is too hard for some people to figure out (or they’re too lazy, whatever, they just don’t want to bother with it).
If you’re worried about protecting yourself from the warez police when you try to get into the industry, you probably shouldn’t be “in the scene” at all, frankly. ScoreHero’s CYA policy about CONs just minimizes their risk at getting a C&D from a record label — RB3Maker files are likely just as bad from a legal perspective, if lower profile.
I know I’d love for us to support RB3Maker files in our releases as well, eventually, but hell, the only place where that matters is ScoreHero and that place has been dead since DLC stopped and they blew up the Rapture thread, so… “meh”.
May 23, 2013 at 9:46 pm #400017If someone else wants to use the rb3maker.zips to make a CON for a release, so be it. I am no longer risking my ass just so people can avert the few clicks it would take to use a rb3maker.zip, unless it’s one of those three scenarios when it would take more than a few. At the very least, I’m not hosting the files. I’ll make a temporary CON for playtesting, but it’s not going in my spreadsheet and someone else would have to host it after release.i’ll say what my too-polite-colleagues will be too polite to say, and i’ll say it bluntly so there is absolutely no chance of miscommunication.
if you want to play in our sandbox, you have to play by our rules. we need a CON for the release, and a RBA file for the recording.
if you can’t provide us with those two, then you need to consider taking your songs elsewhere.

The nebulous part of that post is “for playtesting”, since it doesn’t confirm you intended to have the final release go out the door as a CON file. My take was that we’d have to build a CON for release off your final RB3Maker zip.
If you get us a CON, we’ll host it (as we have for every other release), but you need to get us a CON (and, as mentioned, the RBA for video recording). ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
May 24, 2013 at 3:10 pm #400046Got it. The anime song already in playtesting can’t be found on iTunes, so you don’t have to worry about that CON disappearing.
June 10, 2013 at 10:14 pm #401090Greetings all, I need some opinions.
With my new 3rd shift job, I no longer have the large amount of time I used to have to work on customs. I just can’t devote the time it takes to do all the things required to complete a song, at least not within a reasonable time frame. So I have a couple of ideas, and I need some community opinions on which option I should go with:
1. Do nothing different, and continue to release songs at the snail pace of one or two a month.
2. Put all of my current projects on hold, then only start new projects with community support.
3. Enlist a person/people to do some of the time consuming things like reductions, Pro Keys, etc.
4. Skip sleeping.
I hate to make it seem so serious, but I simply can’t contribute as much to C3 as I would like with my current circumstances.
June 10, 2013 at 10:20 pm #401091Release songs when you can, when they’re good and finished. If you can get help from interested parties, that’s fine, but don’t burn out working on them and don’t half-ass it: find that nice middle ground.

That’s not really a snail pace, one or two songs a month is a fair pace. Plus, what espher said.
