No I don’t mean from the band FUN.
I am having a tough time charting for guitar. I have been through the authoring docs and found the guitar chart diagrams to be very helpful. I don’t play that instrument very much, more of a Vox/Bass kinda guy.
Would anyone reading these words please tell me your favourite two or three guitar charts, ones that you know are lots of fun to play, ones that you look forward to playing, ones that you think are just perfect or maybe examples of fun guitar solos. If it puts a smile on your face while you’re rocking it, then let me know.
I will then study these examples and use them try to make my charts a bit better.
I am looking for specific examples of chord progression up and down the 5 lane keys, repeating patterns of two and three note chords. Of the dozen guitar charts I’ve worked on, it already feels like I’m repeating the same things too much.
Thanks for your help!

November 21, 2016 at 8:51 pm #477925Two of my favourite Solos to play are both from the band Dream Theater. Both songs being Octavarium and The Dance of Eternity:
https://youtu.be/BHJiN3WENv4?t=2m54s– The dance of Eternity (no solo marker, but it starts after the orange sustain note)
https://youtu.be/9T3d5MKw4sE?t=16m16sOctavarium (the video starts a bit earlier than the solo, because that part is fun to play and i thought you might want to see that as well.)
hope this helps

I still love Love Spreads.
Edit: YYZ is especially great too, on both bass and guitar.

Whizzer – any charts at all would be appreciated, source really doesn’t matter.

November 22, 2016 at 12:09 am #477945Two that come to mind right away are “Rainbow in the Dark” by Dio (RB3) and “Chameleon Carnival” by Andromeda (RBN). Ozzy Osbourne’s songs are usually really fun as well and I think one of the best examples for hard rock guitar charting is “Let Me Hear You Scream”. If you have Green Day Rock Band or the export, “Jesus of Suburbia” is a great song to use as a study guide since it covers several different formats (in the Green Day style but still diverse enough to be a good example).
Also not to toot my own horn but the ZZ Top songs I did are really fun on guitar.
November 23, 2016 at 4:59 pm #478014How about Metallica converts? One, and Unforgiven (I and III) have great guitar charts.
November 24, 2016 at 2:14 am #478032Most fun guitar chart? Hands down it’s Megadeth’s Poison was the Cure.
Really, the entire Rust in Peace album is the most fun I’ve ever had on expert guitar.
Special mention to the Rodrigo y Gabriella RBN songs, as well.
