So I finally appear to have filled up my 32 GB memory stick. If I remember right, that’s the largest that the Xbox recognizes. So can I format a 2nd USB stick and have both plugged in simultaneously? Do they both have to have TU4? Is there a better way to go about this?
I use an Xbox slim model so getting to the hard drive isn’t the most ideal solution.
January 24, 2014 at 12:03 am #412804I have always just used the hard drive. If you’re willing to go without ever going on TU5 (once you mix the files, it’s a huge pain to separate them), then that’s what I would recommend. You don’t have to “get at” the hard drive. Just move the files from the flash drive over, and then just use the flash drive for transfer.
If you want to stick to flash drives, there is theoretically no problem with multiple drives. The Xbox seems them all as one big drive. Just make sure you have TU4 and your profile and all that non-song stuff on only ONE drive.
January 24, 2014 at 12:30 am #412806It’s strange. My computer sees the drive as almost full and Party Buffalo doesn’t seem to want to load any new files yet the 360 see the drive as having 20 GB of space left.
I would just use the H/D but I want to be able to play online still which is why I keep the customs on a stick and official DLC and disc songs on the h/d.
January 24, 2014 at 1:55 am #412810My computer sees the drive as almost full.Windows can’t read the format, and it misdiagnoses the amount of memory left. It’s not you, it’s Windows.
Party Buffalo doesn’t seem to want to load any new filesSome of us experience a similar problem. Party Buffalo can cram up to 256 files per folder.
You probably have ~256 individual CON files, which would explain why it won’t load any new files.
Your solution would be to package a bunch of the CONs with LeFluffie to free up some slots.
January 24, 2014 at 1:59 am #412811Party Buffalo can cram up to 256 files per folder.Just yesterday I said that wasn’t true in a different thread. And here we are again. I have 330 files in my RB3 folder.
January 24, 2014 at 3:45 am #412814I have had that issue — but it isn’t exactly the way described above.
For me, if I try to use Party Buffalo to add more than 256 files at a time…it won’t. It will just stop there. This was only a problem when I initially got into customs (in August or so? What a glorious day) and I went on downloading spree, putting hundreds and hundreds of C3 customs on.
The solution that I eventually stumbled on (with some forums help) was to keep my main usb in the system and use a second one to add smaller batches at a time (from the memory management part of the 360.
Just thought I’d elucidate for anyone who has experienced this VERY REAL issue.
This was done on my mac, fwiw

Have you tried jusing Horizon just once to transfer a few files over the 256 threshold and then going back to using Party Buffalo?
January 24, 2014 at 1:51 pm #412828Windows can’t read the format, and it misdiagnoses the amount of memory left. It’s not you, it’s Windows.Technically, the Xbox writes a bunch of placeholder files that ‘take up’ data, which Windows sees, but yeah, it can’t “read” that format.
January 24, 2014 at 3:37 pm #412839USB sticks plugged… Well, you can’t connect 3 micks at the same time anymore, it becomes way less fun with friends then.

January 24, 2014 at 4:14 pm #412846So I guess I’m lost as to what to do next. Maybe I just need to reformat the USB stick (I assume I’d loose all my previous progress and scores) and start over. Kind of frustrating.
Thanks for the input

Hmmm, I don’t remember specifically, but I know I generally had less luck on Horizon than on PB. Also, I don’t know what I was thinking — this wasn’t originally on my mac, but on a borrowed PC. It is only recently that I discovered a working drive explorer for the Mac.
January 25, 2014 at 12:15 am #412865So I checked this evening and there is plenty of space on the thumb stick as well as 450+ files that PB sees. I tried again to inject 1 new file and it says it’s there until I close the drive and reopen it. Then it’s not there.

Have you tried Horizon now?
January 25, 2014 at 1:13 am #412867One time I deleted files from my memory stick using Party Buffalo, and BAM! my stick was toast and reported as full. I searched around these forums and some others had reported similar things, and the recommendation was to *NEVER* delete using Party Buffalo, but to only delete on the console with the file management tools there. I reformatted the stick and follow that protocol and haven’t had a problem since.
I’ve also run into a problem with “256 files in a folder” with Party Buffalo, so I keep it to 250 per folder.
