Hello all, I am new to the site and would love to get some opinions.
I am a PS3 guy that has supported Harmonix over the years and have many imports and purchased much DLC. I have around 1050 songs in my library. I have Ions and many different guitars. I have never owned an Xbox but was always intrigued by the customs. Now that I have found you guys and have seen some of the customs, I am dying to take the plunge.
What would be the easiest way for me?
Should I buy an Xbox and new instruments just for customs? (expensive?)
Looks like customs for PS3 is difficult? Could I have an all-in-one library this way?
I have 3 PS3’s (2 slim, 1 fat) but my fat PS3 has a bad disk drive.

I once switched from PS3 to Xbox: boy did my bank account take a hit. Best solution is to hack your PS3 and use customs there I suppose.
OK if i don’t want to get into the whole PS3 jailbreak thing, is there a certain xbox console I should get? I am willing to do the xbox for customs only route and pick up a couple guitars and Ion brain controller. Seems from what i have been reading that it will be easier for me maybe. I have no confidence in soldering a PS3.

Even a lowly 4GB 360 is more than adequate. I recently bought one of these at Costco for only $99.
Added a 32GB 3.0 USB drive ($20), and use it as a customs exclusive console.
The hardest part will be finding the EA version of RB3. Sure wish I could find another copy.

There are many RB3 EA discs available on Ebay, they are usually in the 30 to 40 dollar range, some are cheaper. Just be sure to check with the seller that it has the white guitar pick with EA in the middle before purchasing. Sometimes they post a generic picture of the RB3 EA disc when it is actually a Mad Catz version.
Also check the local sites that allow you to buy & sell items, I bought a Xbox 360 slim for 50 bucks recently.
Don’t know how you guys can do it with so little storage. Between exports, dlc and customs I’m at about 90gb.

Look for Xbox compatible USB sticks: it’s not that some other sticks won’t work, it’s that some sticks will be slower and will cause problems.

Do the people selling guitars on eBay think they are made of gold? I actually prefer the GH guitars and there are plenty on there but wow, expensive. I already have 9 of them for PS3. I may get tagged as a hoarder soon.
Getting closer, just waiting on UPS now! Hopefully jamming this coming weekend. Picked up a brand new black friday 4GB console, 1 used EA disc, 2 used guitars, and 2 new 32GB sticks. Already have several hundred songs downloaded to PC also.
Having trouble locating an ION brain module for Xbox though. Not really wanting to drop 99+ bucks on this right now, searching for used if anyone knows of one.

I was finally able to get a taste of customs this weekend. My CPU at home has VistaSP1 and will not update to SP2 so I was unable to use ConTools to build some packs. So I manually added about 50 songs and tried those.
Now I am building packs on CPU at work. Do I need to do anything with Song Cache? I deleted all the files on USB through the xbox but left TU4 and Cache alone.
Is that going to be ok? Or do I delete that also?
