I also am not a country fan but Jerry Reed, Oak Ridge Boys, and Eddie Rabbit are a few of the ones I actually like. Thanks! Any chance for Statler Brothers – Counting flowers on the wall – (was in pulp fiction)?
September 12, 2016 at 2:48 am #474818I mean…all of the Funhouse weeks are great, but this one is super great. Love the country-esque choices this week. Two more to cross off of my song request list ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Can’t wait to play “Eastbound and Down”, “Elvira”, “Drivin’ My Life Away”, and “Straight On”.
Thanks very much!

September 12, 2016 at 9:13 pm #474852Hey there Rockers,
It is Monday and time for all you music sleuths to get another chance to show off your “Big Brains”. We have another great week for you. In fact, my 3 picks are 3 songs that I have wanted for a while, and I love all 3 Sy picked, so it should be stellar. Well that is enough for the hype, let’s get to the clues.Hint for Song #1
To start this all off, we have a song by a funk superstar that we worked on prior to the Funhouse. This song was featured in the film Friday. Although this song barely missed Billboard Top 40 (It was Number 41), it did have a solid #3 on the Billboard R&B chart. Despite this artist’s drug-fueled crimes, he is remembered for his great songs, this definitely one of them.Hint for Song #2
Next up, we have a song that I have been wanting for a very long time. This bluesy track is so explicit it was banned from radio, stifling its popularity a bit. However, it became a staple at weddings and strip clubs. This sight-impaired artist is one of the Blues/Rock/R&B greats. He had great success in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. This song was originally intended to be part of an artist 3 pack that would have featured a big song from this artist in the 60’s and 70’s as well.Hint for Song #3
For our third song this week, we have a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artist that actually lived in the city I live in. The song is a R&B classic that topped both the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B charts. The song was used in the film Pulp Fiction. Actually, the song has appeared in many movies and TV shows. United States President Barack Obama performed a brief phrase of the song during an appearance at a fund raiser.Hint for Song #4
In the clean-up spot, we have the very first hit by a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer. It is so far back it was before the artist’s first stage name change, but to be fair it became popular in America after his first stage name change. The song first appeared on his second album, that was not released in US. If Australians hadn’t loved this song, the rest of the world may have not known this talented musician, actor and painter. The fact that it did well in Australia got the artist another album that was released in America and this song became the first single from that 3rd album.Hint for Song #5
In the #5 position, we have a nu-metal band whose musician/director founder is a sibling to another musician/director. This song is their most well known song and they always play it last at their shows. The song has appeared in many video games including Tony Hawk Pro Skater franchise and WWE Smackdown! Vs. Raw. The song has also appeared in the film Little Nicky.Hint for Song #6
Our final offering this week is by a prog rock supergroup. It is the second track on this band’s fourth studio album. It was from the band’s first album with a new singer/bass player, the first album with a new guitarist and also the last with the founding drummer and guitarist until a reunion of the originally line-up more than a decade later. We had a great week last week. Let’s see how many “Big Brains” we will have this week.
