Thank you Funk Meister! That put a smile on my face. See ya Saturday!!!
If the guess for ‘East Bound and Down’ IS correct, I’ll wager that the smile on your face will pale in comparison to mine….I GUARANTEE! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
Gleason was absolutely BRILLIANT in this role. And the entire line in this dialog regarding “NO WAY”………PRICELESS!
It had me and my old man laughing for days on end. Thanks for sharing the laugh with me sam! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />

September 10, 2016 at 4:00 pm #474721Hey there Rockers,
The weekend has finally returned to the Funhouse. We have an excellent week ready for you peeps with some great tracks. Once again, this week is a very mixed bag of tricks. We have 3 songs that were country songs that got a large appeal with the whole pop culture world. You will probably recognize all three, as will will your parents and probably grandparents. They are timeless songs and very fun to play and sing. Also this week, we have a super-fun tune by Heart. Straight On is very fun to play, you will dig it!! We also have some more challenging songs from the metal and experimental categories. On top of that, we have 2 bonus songs: One of my favorite bands with a great song from one of my favorite albums of all time and one by one of Sy’s favorite bands. All-in-all, this week is dynamite! Let’s reveal these bad lads and get to the rocking!!

Release Notes
This week, the country songs were my picks. These songs were always favorites of mine and this seemed like an awesome week to bring them to Rock Band. They should be a hoot!
East Bound and Down is a classic from Smokey and the Bandit. This song had a wide appeal do to the popularity of the film and the catchy goodness that the song carries to your ears. The guitar follows the banjo and has a tough solo, good luck with it.
Elvira is a huge country crossover hit. This song is fun to sing. Try not to hurt yourself with the oom-papa-mow-mows. This song is fun and will be a crowd favorite at your Rock Band parties.
Driving My Life Away was a huge crossover hit for Eddie Rabbitt. It paved the way for I Love a Rainy Night (also in the Funhouse catalogue) to be a huge smash hit. This one is also super-fun to play.
Straight On is a great Heart song. It is fun to play and just plain awesome. When I tested it I was having a riot, We hope you do as well.
Black Widow is a strong metal rocker for those who want a heavy challenge. This song won’t disappoint for the challenge.
I had never heard Maximum the Hormone, it is chaotic experimental metal core. My brain is still reeling from doing this chart. Chaos is the only word that describes that sound to me.
For bonus songs this week, Highly Suspicious is an awesome song that I had done a conversion of before. This time it is all started from scratch and is full band with complete harmonies. You may have noticed a lot of harmonies this week, the ever evolving and awesome talents of Sy are expanding to harmonies for select songs. This dude is just fucking amazing!!!
Avenger is a great metal band with a timeless metal sound. NOTJ is a great tune, if you dig metal give it a play, you won’t be sorry!
This week we had another great round of hints with 4 “Big Brains” doing the work.
Bansheeflyer (3)
CmdrXym (2)
Dahnlee (1)
Ditg (1)
This week the scoring was a little wack. There were a couple I couldn’t tell who was first. I gave credit to both. In the future please don’t edit your posted answers to add other answers to other hints, that makes it very hard for us to deal with accurately. So please take it easy on my overworked brain. Thank you!
Also, I made a boo-boo and scrambled a few numbers in the Maximum the Hormone clue, so that one was tainted and the answer given was correct for the clue I gave, only the clue was faulty. So, credit was given to that one as well.
Great job on the hints and thank you to those who played along. We love it and have a good time with it every single week.
Also thank you for the fun posts in the thread. That kind of thing is much appreciated. You Peeps Rock!!!!
We will return next week with another batch of tunes and trivia. Have a bangin’ weekend!! See ya soon!!
Remember to Rock Out… Life is Short
September 10, 2016 at 4:10 pm #474722If I had a dime for every time the Funhouse released boring content…
I’d have ZERO DIMES!
September 10, 2016 at 4:24 pm #474723Thank you for charting Black Widow. It is rare that someone chooses to chart a CoB song from an early album, let alone Hatebreeder, which I think is their finest hour.
September 10, 2016 at 4:27 pm #474724Huge thank you for Straight On! One of my favorite Heart songs, and seems to be an often overlooked hit by them. Can’t wait to play it!
Stupid Saturday shifts!
September 10, 2016 at 4:33 pm #474725I’m switchin’ up my thank you this weekend and puttin’ it in song…
Nunchuck and Sy this is for you. Sing this along with the opening track of Smokey and the Bandit. The tune is called “The Legend” by Jerry Reed.
Ya’ heard about the legend of Jesse James
and John Henry, just to mention some names
Well there’s some Custom writin’ legends on the Net today…
Nunchuck and Sygenysis make ’em fun to play
Every RB player knows their names,
You’d swear they got the mojo for the gems that they lay
They pick, chart and rock all these killer songs,
Ya’ pop ’em in your Xbox, now you playin’ along…
September 10, 2016 at 4:44 pm #474727THANK YOU GUYS for Maximum The Hormone!!!
I’m a big fan of those guys, and it’s great to see them get some love over here ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
Also digging Straight On and Highly Suspicious; as much as What About Love? is a a good song, RB kinda dropped the ball not putting this song in there somewhere.
September 10, 2016 at 5:02 pm #474728I think I might’ve gone a little overboard on the harms this week. I’m not perfect at harmonies at all, but I felt that each song this week we did them on was necessary, or at least doable.
It was also really hard to find a CoB song that wasn’t done full band yet (at least to my knowledge), but I’ve been listening to them a lot, lately, and I think Black Widow is a solid song by them. It doesn’t have the greatest solo, but is still enjoyable to play and listen to. Vocals on it are unpitched, since the growling style of the first couple CoB albums doesn’t translate as well into pitched vox.
I really wanted to tackle Highly Suspicious after hearing it, and knowing that Nunchuck helped with a custom for it, especially finding out the lead vocal line wasn’t pitched. This one has full harms, and I think the solo is charted well, even though the drum parts should be identical. Awesome song.
N.O.T.J. is from a lesser known NWOBHM band called Avenger that we’ve done another song for, and it’s probably the most epic song off the entire album it’s from. It’s slower than the rest, but still has some impressive guitar work at the solo. The drum beat and bassline are awesome, too, but the lengthy guitar solo is the real highlight.
Straight On is one that we jumped on as soon as we saw the Heart song we got for DLC was What About Love, and it’s a kick ass hard rock song, with great vocals more than anything, and a sweet breakdown at the end.
Elvira didn’t feel right with the oom papas and lead line being the lone vocal track, so we did the harms on it, split up to include as much of them as possible, so harm 3 alternates between the highest and lowest singers, which might be weird to play, but I could only really hear one or the other in the mix.
Drivin’ My Life Away is amazing, and I had completely forgotten the song existed. It’s a fantastic song that I could listen to on repeat for hours, I’m very glad that Nunchuck picked it.
East Bound and Down I had never heard before we did it, but it’s a great song, too. Very catchy, very fun. Guitar should be pretty tricky, since the riffs the banjo plays are very fast, and the guitar solo itself is surprisingly lengthy and tricky, too.
All around a very fun and pro-vocalists release, we hope you guys enjoy!
September 10, 2016 at 7:48 pm #474731I mean…all of the Funhouse weeks are great, but this one is super great. Love the country-esque choices this week. Two more to cross off of my song request list ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Can’t wait to play “Eastbound and Down”, “Elvira”, “Drivin’ My Life Away”, and “Straight On”.
Thanks very much!

September 10, 2016 at 11:14 pm #474741Thank you so much for “Black Widow” & The maximum the hormone song. These songs are right up my street. There’s something for everyone in you’re list of songs this week. Good stuff.
