Clue 4 is driving me nuts. The only fests I can think of named after bands is Up The Hammers which is a phrase the band Manilla Road uses, and Frost and Fire which is a Cirith Ungol album. Neither band played at the first one though.
….Ozzfest (Ozzy Osbourne), Knotfest (Slipknot), Cruefest (Motley Crue)….still having issues figuring out the clue though…Knotfest seems to be a close match, being speed/power metal band. Was at first thinking Ozzy and Zakk Wilde, since he played Odin guitars, but they weren’t power/speed metal….and Ozzy played with Black Sabbath at the Ozzfest festivals.
June 28, 2016 at 10:49 pm #471238Hint 4 is more about the Live DVD itself, rather than the festival, which I admittedly can’t find too much information about, either. If it helps, the band isn’t new to customs.

If this is Manilla Road, there is a good chance at it being custom of the year. If it’s Flaming Metal Systems, best custom ever. I know Manilla Road had their own festival and they have the live DVD from the Mysterium release. Flaming Metal Systems is on the set, so I’m telling myself there’s a chance. Don’t throw it away!

I hope it’s Manilla Road too. They are my favorite band.

I’d love for us to do some more Manilla Road, but you don’t know how close you are to the artist. I should also mention that there’s a different version of the song already in the DB.
EDIT: The song also originally featured a guest performance from a related band’s member who isn’t present on the version in the DB, or the live version we’re doing.
EDIT: EDIT: The song is featured in a 6 million+ view video, and is well known for its amazing level of crowd interaction, that surprised the band, too.
EDIT: EDIT: EDIT: The song shares its name with another song we’ve done, and we’ve done a song by the artist as well, who received a C3 release, as well.
EDIT: EDIT: EDIT: EDIT: The festival the band was featured in was self-titled, but there’s no information onllne about it, so that might explain why it was so confusing, hopefully this overload of bonus hints helps.

Thank you. It is moments like this that make all those hours of charting and all that goes along with maintaining this level for this long worth while. It gets tough sometimes, then we see comments like these and it gives us that extra bit in our tanks. These messages are a big part of the reason we are celebrating 500 customs in our thread this week. This week’s release is gonna be sweet!!!!
See ya Saturday!

One of the community managers and the main tournament organizer over at SpinShare. Also somewhat decent at charting for RB3 I think.

July 2, 2016 at 5:03 pm #471441Hey there Rockers,
Welcome to the party! Grab yourself a cold drink and get ready to rock!!!
Here is a little story…
Back before the Funhouse, Sy and I starting working together on customs. We both could contribute the skills that we would need to make some really great stuff. We have many similar musical interests and also like many things the other did not yet hear. Together, we had what it took to make a bad-ass team. Sy has mad charting skills. I swear, the dude amazes me all the time! This week, he did pitched vocals for all 6 of our weekly release songs. I like to write, and love this game, so I read everything I could find and worked very hard to learn to do reductions and all the RB3 workings. Between his mad musical abilities and my know how of the creating RB3 customs from expert charts, we had it going on. Next, we needed to organize. We came up with the Funhouse. We had a simple goal in mind we wanted out of this venture: to add some awesome songs to the game in a regular fashion that peeps could count on, like C3 had managed to do so well. We wanted to innovate and bring all the peeps a fun thread to check out. After a while, we decided we wanted to do promotions and push where an “other customs thread” could rise to. Today, here we stand. If you came here today and never had one of our songs, you could download 500 songs. You would have quite a fun and diverse library, just from those songs.
That, my friends is Bad Ass!!
Today we celebrate and rock!! Let’s get to it!

July 2, 2016 at 5:38 pm #471444Nice stuff.
Funny story about “Life During Wartime”. Back when 93.7 The Arrow still existed in Houston, the morning show had a contest where an opera singer would come in and sing lyrics to a well-known classic rock song, but set to some opera or musical tune. “Life During Wartime” got the treatment one day, and if I recall correctly, it was set to the tune of “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina”. People had to call in and guess the song, but naturally this was complicated by the fact the phrase “life during wartime” doesn’t actually appear anywhere in the song. After several wrong guesses, one guy called in and proudly started singing, “This ain’t no party! This ain’t no disco! This ain’t no fooling around!” The hosts then asked, “Yes, but what’s the name of the song?” Crickets…
Anyway, thanks for another great batch of songs, especially that one and the vocal upgrade from the Colonel! Much loved and appreciated!
July 2, 2016 at 6:53 pm #471446Thank you for everything, but a special thank you for Life During Wartime. I was disappointed when this was not included with the pack from HMX.
