I’ve been using dummy .dta files to manipulate the song library, before I let the game read my actual DLC files. This lets me change artist titles and some other details, so I can have my library sorting exactly the way I want it to.
Anyway I’m loading up about 16 separate dummy con files, which is annoying because I have to delete them all (to actually play the songs) and then inject them all over again if I need to change something else and rebuild the cache.
So my question: is there any reason I can’t just dump every edited song .dta into a single running .dta file (in Notepad), then make one master dummy con out of that? I was under the impression that there were some song compatibility issues, so to be safe I’ve been doing .dta “packs” for different categories. So I have an RB2 export file, RB2 DLC, RB1 export, RBN 2.0, etc.
I notice some slight differences in how .dtas from different “eras” label things (like “MASTER 1” in some files and “MASTER TRUE” in others), maybe that could cause an issue?
You can do them all in the same file. This is exactly what RB:HP does — merge all the single song files into one master songs.dta and and one master upgrades.dta before bundling them.
Cool, I tried this and it worked without any tricks! Different labels didn’t cause any problems. Thanks for the response. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
