That’s quite a lot of wild conjecture.

Another vote for probably going to buy it but, not 100%, it will depend on the specifics(instruments/set list/portability of old instruments)

Personally, I only play rock band for party’s/hang outs, not much solo playing. So having the playlist go down from 2500 odd songs(including tons of really good niche songs we play the hell out of thanks to you guys here) to 100ish or whatever ends up being the final number of disc/rb3 stuff available won’t be easy.(bought all my dlc on ps3)

Or having to switch systems and controllers mid party or back and forth cuz someone wants to play song A or song B just don’t see that going over well.

        Combination of 3 and 4. Mostly 4.

The problem is, I really had my hopes up for RB4, since I wanted a game that would let me go through RB2’s awesome tour mode with pro instruments. That would have sold it for me. I have so many great memories of playing the old tour mode, but for $400 I just can’t give up pro keys.

Nice! I will still keep my Xbox360 and play customs because I’ve spent $$$ on 2 consoles and dlc content for both. Plus all the guitars, drum sets and mics that I’ve purchased since 2007. Even a Fender Squire and Ion drum for pro charts. I’m not really into spending more $$$ on a new console and more dlc. I jumped ship originally from PS2 system to Xbox360 back when they came out with Judas Priest Screaming for Vengeance Album dlc and never looked back since. I devastated when I heard “NO MORE DLC for Rock Band” but then C3 customs made the sadness and sleepless nights go away If I ever decide to dump a wad on a new system and dlc, it will surely depend on RB4’s game play and especially the music and dlc. On RB releases thru the years I was at Walmart @12:01am to buy every release of RB when it was available. I think this year I will pass. That’s my .02 worth I’m in to stay so Rock On C3 Customs!!!

the difference between keys/pro guitar and harmonies is that the first require their own console specific peripherals, while harmonies just require having more than one microphone. i’d be surprised if they were dropped

            Rock Band 4 you say.

I’m as torn as I was after the new DLC-bombshell which made me realise that a new Rock Band title could wel be imminent.

For the genre and the franchise it’s good that there is a new iteration coming.

New material to play, possible improvements on the way the game is played, a bigger song limit, hopefully a new artstyle -Less RB3, more RB2 cartoony skinny people- and a new influx of people playing and rediscovering the value of a great multiplayer experience.

The fact that Harmonix plans to walk the extra miles to make legacy instruments and most of the former purchases playable, gives them massive goodwill points in my book, even if I decide to jump onto new instruments at some point, which is likely.

Just need to get over the reluctance of having to buy an Xbox, or PS4 for that matter.

As excited as I am for the possibilies of the new game, the understandable omission of pro-instruments notwithstanding, I lament the effect it might well have on the RB3 community.

On a personal level I was comfortable with the fact that Rock Band 3 was the definitive iteration of the franchise. I had grudgingly accepted its demise and then, a year later I stumbled upon this place which made

the game I loved even better and more importantly: very much alive for the forseeable future.

Nothing lasts forever, even though, like TrojanNemo pointed out, custom songs were present long before Rock Band and are not going away any time soon.

Still, with RB3 no longer being either the latest- or the definitive version, I fear energy for this game will drain from this community faster than it might have otherwise, despite an initial influx of interested new or returning players.

In a way that is a good and natural thing, but this place has a special quality that I doubt is very common or even rare:

A small but determined community of enthusiasts, with its forerunners being concerned with- and dedicated to delivering high quality and fun to other enthusiasts, with regard for the people who made the game possible in the first place and need to make a living of it.

It is of course common sense to do so, but I feel there is also a genuine moral standard present.

All this combined is on a selfish personal level something that I would hate to have to miss.

Without wanting to come across as being overly dramatic I feel that it might take a while to fully appreciate just how special the efforts and achievements made in this place are.

To cut this outsider’s rant short:

There was always going to be a new rhythm-party game to replace RB3 and I am glad it’s this one.

I will support it while at the same time my 360 is going nowhere.

I hope Rock Band 4 flourishes and that the C3-community, in whatever form/shape it needs to take, does the same.

            That, or option 2.

My dream scenario is for an RB2-style situation with the DLC. Where stuff that comes out for the new game still works on the previous game, just without a marginal feature or two (e.g. RB2 songs in RB1 that had missing HOPOs). Assuming the generational platform jump will make that impossible though.

It is pretty cool RB4 is coming out which proves the market is there for us wanna be rockers. However, C3 will still be my choice…where else can I get 14 Guns n Roses songs or a boat load of Led Zeppelin tunes? If only there were some Kid Rock songs…

In the end RB4 coming out will help push the existing programming technology forward, which could make it easier for non programmers like me to create and add songs to the C3 family which in turn will expand the C3 library for all of us. I finished mapping out my 1st song and now it is on to making into a playable song.

If had one wish, it is that they come out with a new generation of guitars that are stronger that what has already been released in the past. I beat the hell out of the strummer.

            Keep on Rocking C3 community!

It would be nice if they returned with keys and PRO instruments. I hope the setlist compensate the lack of these peripherals.

              #441421

I would love to see an option to use the same instruments on the same songs. I.E. Two people being able to use guitars or even drums if you have two sets. I believe that past full band Guitar Hero’s had this option. Just my two cents!

I want pro mode, including keys. No pro mode = no RB4 for me. RB4 as it is described now might as well be GH6 as it is a giant step backwards.

And if the new DLC will not support pro mode on RB3, then I won’t be purchasing any of that. (I’ve purchased over 600 songs from Harmonix, and don’t regret a single purchase.)

Thank Dog for C3! And long live RB3!

I doubt very much that they’ll be releasing more DLC for RB3, at this point.

Well, the RB4 announcement is actually how I learned that customs existed on this scale. I knew they were around but not working on an unmodded PS3, so I willfully ignored what wasn’t available to me.

Suffice it to say when I saw the C3 database I bought an Xbox that weekend. I paid for a lot of PS3 DLC that I would be sad to leave behind, but it was very obvious that Microsoft supported the platform better and I always regretted choosing poorly. With the news that RB4 supposedly will support old DLC, I probably won’t decide what platform to buy it on until I see a new RBN confirmed. The only sure thing is that I’ll be playing customs on this Xbox for a long time yet, and I can’t thank this community enough for breathing new life into the game.
