Got one! I took advantage of target’s 275$ sale, plus buy 2 get 1 free games and am now a Wii U owner! I even subsequently got a free digital game with MK8, so I’m feeling pretty thrifty.

Just got a Wii U on Craigslist for $75, is the gamepad needed to play? It’s only $75 because it doesn’t come with a gamepad but I have Wiimotes, going to try and get Mario Kart 8 by next weekend so I can join the melee!
Gamepad is not needed but the console will be a little more annoying to navigate/set up without it…The lady I’m buying it from said she will make sure it’s all set so I won’t need the gamepad right away, I plan on getting one but they seem to be a little hard to find.

Nintendo doesn’t officially ‘sell’ them individually atm because they don’t offer support for two. I think you can order a replacement for a ‘broken’/’stolen’ one, though I don’t know what you’d need to provide. Wiimote might be fine for now.
