No luck, had to fall back to 2.2. Same problem with two other songs. Magma 2.2 works fine. All these songs were using a .proj file created with 2.2 and I didn’t think to try creating a new proj file from scratch to test (derp). I will try that on the next song, which also already has a 2.2-created .proj file.

Possibly connected somehow, I can no longer associate .proj files with magma.exe, no matter where I run magma from (desktop, C:). When I try, it just returns to the former window but doesn’t offer magma as a program to use.

I think I just figured it out :haw: Open up a couple of those songs that didn’t work and look at their songs.dta file. Do you see a song_id line in them? I just tested on my end and the new feature to add the instrument solos was missing one line of code that resulted in the final songs.dta not having a song_id line :v:

This works for me. Right click, open with, find other programs on this PC. Selected MagmaC3.exe and double clicking on .rbproj files opens them in Magma v3. Can also drag and drop .rbproj files onto the program.

You might be onto something – no song ID in the recent attempts that didn’t work, but it’s there in the one that did. And I did have the solo button selected. I did put a song through this past week that had no solo and I had no problem, which is why I was surprised to have the problem recur today using 3.0 with this next song. You might have figured it out. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

        v3.1
        FEATURES BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND
        - Option to create LIVE instead of CON files
        - Option to use 24-bit silence tracks by default
        - Ability to use 24-bit silence tracks by right-clicking on an audio track
        - Ability to use custom skins

        FIXES
        - Major bug where if the song had instrument solos the resulting songs.dta file would be missing the song_id line (and the song wouldn't show up in game then)
        - Bug where song version would be added to song ID regardless of selection in Options
        - Various other small bug fixes and adjustments

This release should address everything that was brought up to my attention. If you have issues, the best way to make sure I can fix it is to send me the project files and/or any other files I’ll need to replicate the issue on my end.

As far as the features brought back, that’s the extent of what I’m willing to bring back. Hopefully that satisfies the majority of you. Custom skins are supported, but none are included. There’s a thread somewhere on these forums with a few of them. Follow the instructions and/or ask for help there.

        Thank you!

Hm, it seems that the “song won’t show up ingame” problem still exists in v3.1.

I compiled two songs with v3.1 and Rock Band 3 detects them as “new content”, but they won’t show up in the songs setlist.

I compiled them again with v2.2 and now they are showing up.

Also, v3.1 doesn’t add versions to my CON file names (setting is enabled).

Looking at it on my cell the dta files look fine. Have you tried rebuilding the cache? I might need to look at the con file when I get home and see if something is wrong in the file structure. There is nothing changed in v3 or v3.1 that would affect things this way…

            #429767

I have no idea. I compiled them using 3.0. I re-downloaded 3.0 first then I checked this thread and read that others have the same problem.

Since the songs still won’t show up with 3.1 I simply used 2.2.

Could be something on my end.

That’s why I’m suggesting rebuilding the song cache. See if that works. If not pm me a link to the songs and I’ll take a look tonight.

Here’s a (crappy) tutorial on how to bypass the 1MB midi file limitation and add custom practice session names to your song.

I’m getting GDI+ error and the ambidextrous clicking is far more annoying than it’s actually helping. Plus, I can’t seem to get the nice clean theme from before and the default themes are really gross. How do I roll back?

                    I’m getting GDI+ error

That’s because something isn’t installed right. Make sure you have the latest .NET framework installed.

Plus, I can’t seem to get the nice clean theme from before

Default skin hasn’t been changed. It’s the same as it always has been. It may have something to do with the error you’re getting.

and the default themes are really gross.

                    Thanks.

                    How do I roll back?

Delete the folder that has the version you don’t like. Download the version you like and use that.
